Nintendo Direct for Kirby Air Riders - 19th August (6am PT // 9am PT // 2pm UK)

Id like to be proven wrong and we'll see.....but it's a bit puzzling to release Switch 2 with a new Mario Kart, and then go all ham with a Kirby Kart title a few months later. DK Bananza is amazing, but Switch 2 needs a variety of 1st party titles, not many in the same genre.

Very strange time to release air riders 🤔

A xenoblade or animal crossing would be better to flesh out the line up. Reminds of when they released New Super Mario 2 and Wii U close to each other.

Or when they released 3 Mario RPGs within a year of each other (super mario rpg, paper mario thousand year door, and mario & luigi brothership). Nice to have em, but holy crap, do some variety. They plan their releases so strategically sometimes by spreading things out so much sometimes, and then they just pile on somethings all at once.

Well looks like another game that startred on switch 1 and was changed to switch 2, graphically i think mario kart and new sonic racing game look better. Didnt like on the gamecube and thought it was overrated and so far not seeing anything to make me go out and buy this

The game look very fun but I'm not actually liking the direct itself, it just information overload which makes the viewer more confused.

Given the choice I'd take Kid Icarus Uprising 2 over Air Riders any day of the week.
Kid Icarus Uprising was fucking AWSOME! It's one of my favourite Nintendo game.

what is the reason not to do another Kid Ikarus, something different, and do this when MKW is so much grander. Hopefully sales will showcase that to Nintendo. Waste of time.

Of course, cause it's gonna cost 70$

Never played the original...

but if you said this WAS the original I would believe you

Also - why is this coming so close to Mario Kart World? Seems like budget Kirby Kart

Scarcity of new ideas? Milk the Mario Kart moo till it's alive?

So...is that their big holiday release? If so, lol what? Also, I totally expected them to say "and Kirby Air Ride for gamecube is on Gamecube Switch online", but nope.

I'm interested in this game but this was not a good direct to show off the game especially compare to amazing Donkey Kong Bananza direct.

So this is their November game huh?

If it's priced decently (but who am I kidding...?) I'll pick it up for City Trial alone, that looked great. If it's full price I think I'll just stick with Mario Kart.

I love Kirby Air Ride and I'm probably going to pick this up. That said, this Direct was about twice as long as it needed to be. Sakurai is one of my favorite developers but some of these tiny gameplay details and options and things (like how granular he got with the Stadium choices in City Trial) really aren't necessary to go over in a game's preview.

I like the big lineup of characters, the adjustments to the racing gameplay, and what I've heard of the music. The visuals are well-animated but pretty simple. Otherwise it's a fairly modest upgrade if I'm being honest--no real major hook outside of playing as other Kirby characters. But KAR is a pretty novel racer in the first place so sometimes it's nice just to get an update. I dunno, felt weirdly safe for a Sakurai project overall.

Not for me, and I don't know who that was at the end.
Looked like the swordsman version of Dark Matter from the end of Kirby's Dream Land 2.
