AS FOR ALTS I think the lack of Mr. L is an injustice!
It would have been a harmless addition for the second-generation units, and the Spotpass / Paralogue characters who have no non-Morgan children. That those characters have more possible relationships teased between them than the first-generation units makes everything even worse. Tiki/Say'ri and Severa/Kjelle will always be canon in my heart.

I fully support this. I need to excise usurper Bowser Jr. and put in the true heir Ludwig.
That's not Bowser Jr, but yes, that theme would be great.

As cool as I'm sure Bowser Jr.'s alternate colours could have been, I really like the Koopalings and this is pretty much the only way they were ever going to be playable, unless we ended up with a ridiculous Mario Kart 8 like scenario.
If anything, Baby Bowser is only one getting screwed in this situation, haha.

As I brought up earlier, I'd love to see a Ninten alt for Ness in the same vein as Olimar & Alph. It'd be a model swap with the announcer callout and everything. That cool bandana should be required. I think it'd be a nice love letter to the often forgotten first Mother title.
Because, let's face it, if Mother ever gets another full rep it'll probably be the Masked Man
or Lucas.
The fact they were able to replicate Nicholson's facial expression so accurately is nothing short of amazing, lol

I decided to make a list of short opinions for the newcomers. Posting this might even get the thread back on track, who knows.
Bowser Jr.: Initially negative, I like him a bit more now that the other 7 Koopalings are likely alternates and his playstyle looks interesting
Dark Pit: Why (and this is coming from someone who had KIU as 2012 GOTY)
Duck Hunt: Since we haven't actually seen any gameplay they could go anywhere but I did laugh when I saw them in
Greninja: Pleasantly surprised, looks fun to play. Will probably use as a "secondary main"
Little Mac: GOAT
Lucina: OK, shame about Marth being nerfed so she might not be as good as she could have been
Mega Man: About time, playstyle might be a bit off-putting (considering there aren't many dedicated zoning characters in Smash)
Mii Fighters: No idea which one to use for my Mii. Probably Gunner
Pac-Man: Saw this coming a mile off. Not really a fan of Namco so some of his references might go over my head and he's apparently quite slow/sluggish so that's a bit disappointing
Palutena: Default setup is a bit generic but her custom moves are pretty cool. If there isn't a secret taunt for the Kid Icarus stage to replace Snake's CODECs I will be extremely disappointed
Robin: Is apparently very good. Might look into him/her
Rosalina & Luma: Don't have much of an opinion about Rosalina but puppet characters are fine
Shulk: Stance dancing is cool and looks practical to use often. Is fast, hits hard and has long range so I'm probably gonna pick him up at some stage
Villager: Tree looks a bit unwieldy to use. Bizarre character overall
Wii Fit Trainer: I get the feeling a lot of people are going to play her incorrectly by spamming Praise the Sun and launching projectiles

As other people mentioned, Daisy being a proper Peach alt would have been nice, but at least she's still a color.
Others I'd like to see:
- Protoman on Megaman
- Copy Megaman(from Megaman 1) on Megaman(like this)
- Princess Hilda on Zelda
- Ms. Pac-Man on Pac-Man
- Funky Kong on Donkey Kong
- Impa on Sheik
- Isabelle on Villager (too bad she's a trophy)
- Raichu on Pikachu
A few of these deserve to be full characters(clone or whatever) but a lot of them will never ever be worth their own roster slot. Alt costumes that change voiceover lines are a great way to fit in basically minimum effort bonus characters.
Copy Megaman is one I haven't seen anyone else suggest, but he was given a unique design in Powered Up with the triangle on his forehead and the purple scarf, combine that with his constant wicked grin and he'd be a really fun alt.
