As somebody who is awful at online shooters (BF4, Halo, CoD etc...), should I even bother with PvP? I don't not being the best, but I also don't enjoy being so bad it's frustrating. At least in BF4 there are other tasks that help the team and make a k/d ratio less relevant.

To be honest, so am I. I have fun with online shooters because I get to play them with my brothers, but my COD Ghost character is at 0.4 KDR right now^^ But in Destiny I ended the beta at 1.09. My advice is play around with the PvE and Strikes, find a group you like, and make a good character build and strategy you love. Then give PvP a try. Maybe you will find your Niche, maybe not, but it is worth a shot^^

So uhh why was this super hyped again?

I mean it's good and polished but it's hardly earth shattering, missions have been shit to tedious thus far hoping it picks up.

I hope this post doesn't get buried, but i'm looking for some answers.

Obviously everyone on my friends list is playing Destiny, but I am afraid of joining their games incase it messes up my own progress. Do you just jump in / out of friends games then back into your own? Or will my progress just jump to where they're in the game?

Game is pretty boring me just on my own playing..
Just hop in their games, you can catch up on yours at a later time

Now it should work. I hope.

EDIT: Yes. So good.

Stayed up way too late/early playing this dang game. Almost level 8 and I'm done with the stuff you could do in the beta, including the first moon mission. Been playing the missions on hard and that might be the way to play.

Would you mind adding me also? My bungie id is Bunta.

I can't add you. You need to apply in the clan thread. I only helped the other guy because he was pending. Please follow the instructions int he Clan Thread OP. Thanks!

You can jump back and forth just fine, but you will only be able to play stuff you have already unlocked.

Played a bit on the PS3 version this morning (while waiting for the digital upgrade to go into effect.*SIGH*) I'm actually surprised at how well it runs. No, it doesn't look anywhere near as good as the PS4 version does, but it runs at a stable framerate without any dips that I saw (at least in the first level). It seems pretty solid and will work for me until they enable the digital upgrade.

If the full game is just boring enemy wave missions like the beta, followed by the off bullet sponge boss then ill be really disappointed.
It seems such an odd game at the moment. Like a really polished turd. It's a good foundation for something far superior.

As for people comparing it to Halo ... any such comparison wouldn't benefit Destiny. It doesn't have the content or variety to compete. I hope the crucible is improved on the Beta as that also fell way short of their older efforts with Halo

I know I suck at FPS games but damn they made this harder than beta. I actually just died twice on the level 4 mission I'm doing at level 3. I never died in beta or alpha at all. o.o

They really did. I can't quite put my finger on it. I reached Level 7 in about 2hrs so it's not that they made leveling slow, it's like they just made enemies tougher and weapons weaker.

Also aiming doesn't feel as snappy. I felt like in the alpha/beta my shots always were headshots. I guess they had aim assist on for those. Movement also feels slower to me.

Overall I'm definitely not enjoying the combat as much which is disappointing. Never during the beta did I feel the need to avoid fights when solo, or run away. I died once during a normal mission and almost died a few other instances, and that typically only happened during the Strike mission.

Ah shit, my internet keeps dipping in and out. I keep getting kicked out, missed out on a gaffers invitation. Will see if it works later tonight.

Does anyone know where you can get those two shaders from the codes that were posted earlier? Postmistress and Special Orders didn't have them.

Been playing on Normal and it becomes super overwhelming at times. Can't imagine this on Hard. And I'm a FPS fan.

Fired it up for the first time, installed some quick update, and now ive been in this loading screen for like 3 minutes.... this isn't normal is it?

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but it seems that turning in bounties levels everything, not just your character. I turned in three bounties with fresh gear, and I unlocked two new attachements for my Sniper Rifle and the bonuses for some of my Armor.

When choosing a mission, you have a chance to change the difficult setting as well.

I found it much more enjoyable playing on hard. Did the first mission on the moon like that.

Got my LE delivered to work. Digging the postcards, everything feels slick and fancy. Too bad I work 10 hours today and 16 hours tomorrow. :( C'mon Thursday..

Do not play the game by yourself. Absolutely do not do this- it will ruin the experience. Wait until you have some people to play with and then dive in.

Is this game worth buying just for single player? Among my friends I'm the only one who owns a XB1 and whenever we guys meet we always play offline split screen on the 360. This not having offline split screen sucks even further for me...

This makes me excited. On the beta I was just plowing through the missions. Is the AI tweaked or did they just make the enemies hit harder?

Cannot wait to get home and play it... 6 more hours of waiting...

Early impressions, I should've played the alpha so much. I might as well be playing it now still looking forward to getting past that and onto new stuff.

Also, if "hold square to deploy host", defend area missions keep coming up this game will become a chore fast.

Surprised PSN hash't exploded yet either

It's a great way to level up gear. :)

Common to quite a few but worth reminding to GAF just in case.

Toughen up, soldier. We want want any sissies in this army. You'll die and you'll like it.

I think I'm going to pick this up, but I only know a couple people who are buying it. Are a lot of people from D GAF playing together? I'd hate to buy it and then have no one to play with.

Can someone explain how the "skill trees" work in the game? I'm kind of confused/afraid to "spend" my XP on unlocking early abilities/passive things, but am not even sure if it works that way.

If I have an ability that is unlockable, and I unlock it, will it remove progress to unlocking another ability/is the experience progress for all skill nodes shared?

Is there a respec option anywhere in the game in case I decide I want to change my build?

So far, I feel like I'm retreading the Beta. But I'm confident the game will really open up a bit once I get to a higher level(I'm at rank 8).

Missions could use much more variation.

Weapons don't look unique enough so far(again, maybe the game will open up).

Game is only hard if you're trying to play through the story first then do the other stuff. It's designed in a way you're mixing it up. You're not gonna be properly geared if you just run through the story.

Replay older missions on hard, play a few rounds in the crucible, explore or whatever. Then continue the story once you get better gear.

Hmmmm... I am a certified Destiny Fanboy and even I would tell you that Destiny with out buddies is only like 1/4 a game (look at all the negative post: 90% from folks who played by themselves rushing through the story). Find a battle buddy... or rent the game and if you like it find buddies on Gaf to play with you.
