Lots of post but few impressions. C'mon guys! :P. I need to know if this is GOTY material or not.

It's not really the MMO people thought it would be. There isn't enough social features to make it a MMO. Yes. You can play with others and do PvP and dungeons but just mingling with others is a difficult task if you don't have a headset. This is more of a hurdle due to the controller.

The content is bare bones in that you don't do a lot. The story missions are repetitive and very unimaginative.

I did like some parts of the PvP but it was generally all the same and you don't see diversity in characters at all this may be because you die way too fast for there to be any chance to show diversity.

I'm kinda disappointed that the areas that were blocked off in the alpha and beta (Kings' Watch and Jovian Complex) are still blocked off. I wonder what the deal is with those.

Also disappointed that you can't get back to the area with all the rusted cars, when you could in the alpha.

So PSN hasn't burnt down into a fiery grave yet? Seems like an incredibly smooth launch so far going by this thread!

I assume the real stress test will be this afternoon and early night.

Still peeved that Amazon won't be delivering my Ghost Edition until tomorrow. Went ahead and reserved a regular copy at Best Buy so I can play tonight. If anyone wants to wait until later in the week and buy a one day used copy for $50, let me know.

So this was weird..

Last night after one of my friends caught me up on levels we did a mission and the first strike. Afterwards we went back to the tower to sort our loot and whatnot and then ran to find each other to see what we'd picked to look like and..

We were both male exo's.. shock right? No but seriously.. we had both picked the splatter across the face in red. We had both picked black for our base colour and to top it off, we'd both picked the same ear-like side pieces to our heads AND picked gold for the colour :|

It was seriously spooky. The only thing we didn't match on was the helmet itself.

So now we are back on the "it's not an MMO" thing? Really?

Hnng, picking my copy up in just a bit, the excitement.

Feel free to add me on PSN (if you're in EU, preferably): CptPierate

Can someone explain how the "skill trees" work in the game? I'm kind of confused/afraid to "spend" my XP on unlocking early abilities/passive things, but am not even sure if it works that way.

If I have an ability that is unlockable, and I unlock it, will it remove progress to unlocking another ability/is the experience progress for all skill nodes shared?

Is there a respec option anywhere in the game in case I decide I want to change my build?

Do not worry^^ You unlock skills on a set path; you do not have to spend anything and there is no penalty for switching. Quite the contrary, I would recommend trying out the different skills to find the build right for you^^

The outer casing of my Ghost Edition is busted. Seems pretty common, and I'm pretty bummed about it.

Hoping Amazon will reimburse me somehow.

OMG I forgot about telling ups about the hornets living under my front door.

Ups guy is gonna die

haha

my ghosts are 'out for delivery'

still waiting...

Really disappointed to hear the game has terrible mission design :(, and it makes me question why this game needs the constant online connection if it's not as big or as deep as a MMO, when Diablo on consoles is just fine without a connection. Feels from what people are saying, they didn't take the constant online capabilities to the max.

got my SE copy from work and just got home. they had 3 white ps4 bundles and supposedly some LE copies. went standard since I basically got it for 35% off.

absolutely exhausted though so gonna take a good nap before booting it up

those waiting on UPS for delivery, hopefully i'll be awake by the time some of you get yours

we should team up. PSN: Hoosier07

100% GOTY so far. Possibly GOTG or dare I say it GOAT.

I'll pass judgement once I reach the level cap and finish off the story missions.

I know it's hard to judge the entirety of the game this early -- I'm just getting a "it's pretty good I guess" vibe, which there's nothing wrong with, but with such a huge backlog it makes me want to downgrade my collector's edition and just wait on a sale :)

Some of the later fights during story missions can get very hairy at times. Feels very halo-like at those points.

Ai is surprisingly good in those instances as well. I've tried to flank them numerous times onlyrics to realize they flanked me first.

Having tons of fun.

So...

If didn't like Alpha....wont like Destiny.

If you loved th Alpha...like I...you'll love final release.

That's probably fair. I'm sure there are a few cases where people were on the fence or had a bad experience not playing with a good group or something like that.

I'm still surprised people expected the mission design to be great. We saw from the beta that the missions are basically this. Go to a place, have dinklage do something, defeat wave, end mission.

So still on the fence and waiting for reviews to decide if I want to buy this or not. I played some of the PS4 Alpha and had some fun with it.

Am I right to assume that the game basically has solid shooter mechanics while providing pretty boring cliche MMO fetch-quests? For people who've played on PC the past decade, is there anything compelling gameplay-wise that sets Destiny apart besides its shooting?

Once you have installed the game on the PS4 can you then delete the BETA version?

I did read that if you played the BETA & then the full game something transfers over, i think it was the emblems maybe, anyone know, i don't want to mes anything up or miss out by deleting the BETA.

So far, I feel like I'm retreading the Beta. But I'm confident the game will really open up a bit once I get to a higher level(I'm at rank 8).

Missions could use much more variation.

Weapons don't look unique enough so far(again, maybe the game will open up).
Keep us tuned into the opening up updates.

Just hit level 13 and Venus. Loving the PvE while playing with a group of gaffers (didn't play the alpha or beta).PvP seems like good casual fun but it hasn't got the polish of Halo or even some of the COD games so I don't think it will grab me for too long. Hopefully the end game raids will give it some legs for me.

My copy is out for delivery, but UPS probably won't show up for another 8 hours or so. Oh well, at least I get to read this thread. Keep the impressions coming, GAF.

You can safely delete the beta. The stuff you get in the full game for having played the beta comes from your bnet account. Nothing to do with the fact that you have destiny on your PS4.

Reminds me of Cabin in the Woods, where the dirt bike smashes against the invisible wall. This thread is bringing me down a bit. I was really excited after how well the Beta played, so I'll just hope for the best when I get to play later today.
