I know it's hard to judge the entirety of the game this early -- I'm just getting a "it's pretty good I guess" vibe, which there's nothing wrong with, but with such a huge backlog it makes me want to downgrade my collector's edition and just wait on a sale :)

Well based solely on the 35 hours I've played across the Alpha, Beta and now final version I would 100% recommend getting it now. The collectors edition is also pretty sweet and well worth the price given the additional content.

Waiting for the UPS man to get this shit to my house. Amazon is messaging me that it has shipped over and over i thought I bought 20 copies by accident.

Updated impressions.

Sort of one third done with the Moon, just hit level 9.

My complaint regarding the free roam stuff was somewhat alleviated with the public events. These are pretty cool, but not that frequent. I just feel the open multiplayer is missing something, but I can't put my finger on it.

World still feels dead and lifeless, which is super sad, seeng everything looks absolutely incredible. I just wish there was more stuff to pick up, more stuff to do besides shooting respawning enemies or scouting. Some form of hunting mechanic, more gathering (professions?), crafting, wildlife - something to make the world feel more dense and alive.

Combat is still great, and it's pretty much saving the game for me right now. Super fun.

My copy is finally out for delivery. I purposely didn't take today off since I was afraid the servers might die, but work is gonna drag ass today.

Also good lord OT2 already? Can't wait to renake my guardian and actually have things about the game to post. Hopefully I see some DGAF people out there tonight.

I'm kinda disappointed that the areas that were blocked off in the alpha and beta (Kings' Watch and Jovian Complex) are still blocked off. I wonder what the deal is with those.

Also disappointed that you can't get back to the area with all the rusted cars, when you could in the alpha.
Lame. Do the levels have more exploration than the beta?

Ughhhh I have the beta emblem for playing during the moon mission but not the one where you play anytime during the beta...

Anyone got the same issue?

That's too bad.

What a sham, the vangaurd pre order weapons are so useless. They can't even be upgraded, and at level 7 I found better weapons from loot and enemies.

So much for pre order bonus.

I know I suck at FPS games but damn they made this harder than beta. I actually just died twice on the level 4 mission I'm doing at level 3. I never died in beta or alpha at all. o.o

Thank God, this is the best news I've heard about this game in ages, beta was way too easy.

Played last night from 2am - 4am CT. Got through character creation and the first story mission. Then I started getting kicked out of the game due to server issues (I'm on PS4). I was able to get through the first three story missions and do some patrolling before I got sick of having to log back into the game after every kick.

Those expected issues aside, I really had a lot of fun. I've been involved since the alpha and have to say I really dig this game. I hear people complaining about the content and all that but I just don't see that problem. There are tons of things to do and the raids and co-op missions are, in my opinion, very re-playable.

What class did everyone end up going with? I was a Warlock for the alpha and beta but decided to go Hunter for my main. I was able to unlock the golden gun before going to bed last night and find it to be the strongest yet toughest super to master. As soon as I hit it, I start running around like a mad man looking for something to shoot. I think I need to work on my timing and patience. Art imitating life as it were.

Lastly, I noticed some flicker/aliasing in the cut scenes that I don't think I remember seeing in the beta. Anyone else see that or was I just having a 3am hallucination?

Add me on PSN if you want someone to play with. My PSN is GKW212

How's the free-roam element to the game? I've been most excited to experience something where you can kind of go anywhere to do missions, upgrade and play as you please, maybe a little like Mass Effect. Is that a big part of the game?

In the end, that is a decision all up to you, my good man/lady. But with a game as coop focused as Destiny the best time to play is when all your fellow DGafers are at your side^^ And let's be honest here... unless you are a hockey fan what are you going to get hyped for this September^^?

Well the dead and lifeless worlds thing is kinda built into the storyline. The zones are not big enough to support a ton more players either so that's not really an option to make them more lively.

Game is only hard if you're trying to play through the story first then do the other stuff. It's designed in a way you're mixing it up. You're not gonna be properly geared if you just run through the story.

Replay older missions on hard, play a few rounds in the crucible, explore or whatever. Then continue the story once you get better gear.

And killed my hype again -_-

Has anyone tried the Destiny Sony Gold Headset profile yet?

Mine is out for delivery at the moment. Everything I've heard about the (regular) Gold Headset is that it's amazing. I don't think the Destiny one is any different, except for the color and the *special* sound profile.

So played for a bit now and whilst its pretty enjoyable the single player missions haven't exactly been that remarkable at the moment but it does help a lot if you play with other people The game does look pretty fantastic and the score really helps elevate the game, so hopefully the missions get a tad more exciting the further I get into the game.
Multiplayer is pretty fun at the moment, Control is by far the best of the multiplayer modes for me so far.

I've uninstalled and installed the Vanguard Armory thing like 6 times now. Done multiple complete shutdowns, nothing is giving me this stuff.

So... My copy arrived like 5 hours ago, it's still wrapped and now I'm just sitting here, waiting for more impressions. I enjoyed the BETA more or less, but now my hype level is 0. And that's not necessary a bad thing, I just don't feel any urge to try it out right now.

I don't know... I need mah reviews. Of course I understand why they are not out yet, but it's the first time this is happening... The game is out, but no reviews anywhere. My backlog is so huge that the game has to be GOTY material or I'll return it, that's the issue.

Just keep the impressions coming.

I dont understand how they have so few options for making your guardian .... not enough hair styles for African American characters... no beards... come on did the budget money run out

well i made it to the hub area. only had like 15 minutes to start it up this morning. it doesn't feel as closed off this time around for some reason. so i'll play it!

Wait this doesn't have crating? Then what's the point in breaking apart great you don't want?

glimmer and higher level gear will break down into items, which are needed to purchase future gear.

Yeah I can jump to the moon at lv. 4 lol. It was basically immediately available. Which is odd considering Earth story feeds into the moon story so if you just jumped right to it ... wouldn't make too much sense.

Lots of post but few impressions. C'mon guys! :P. I need to know if this is GOTY material or not.

Combat is really satisfying but it's really familiar. If you're looking for a futuristic/science-fiction/fantasy arsenal you're not going to get it here. I mean they 'look' it, but it's all the usual stuff you'd see elsewhere. The higher end perks/modifications you unlock through use will add some to that, but from what I've seen they are mostly just faster reload / more punch as your mag runs dry.

If you don't like running around and shooting shit you're not going to like this game. The missions aren't that varied and the game world is inhabited by things whose only function is to get shot in the face / glowy bits. This isn't meant as a knock, it just is. We've all played/seen enough games to know what the deal is with this. I'm enjoying it enough that I don't even mind the loot drops not being all that interesting so far.

Biggest annoyance for me so far is navigating the game to get to mission areas. Tower > LOADING > Orbit > LOADING > Mission. AGH.

Wolfenstein is still my GOTY so far.

Has there been any word on how much support the game is getting for free, or can we expect most anything added to the game to be behind dlc pay walls?

Usually, critics need a week for a review to be done.

Weird that the games image when pinned to home is that of the boxart, but in the recent games icons it uses the origial traveler artwork. This being on Xbox.

I still preferred their original art for the cover.
