Anyone having issues with people getting booted from fireteams at random? On the Xbox One here with a fireteam of just friends.

I think people are coming in expecting a Halo style adventure and getting a Diablo loot fest with a paper thin story holding it together.

Curious to see what my experience is like.

Without a real story holding it together I will find it hard to give a shit about anything I'm doing. :(

During the Beta everyone said that content was cut and that the full game with have more context for what the player is doing. Now I find out that the beginning of the game is exactly the same.

Paper thin.

I feel like we should get more XP for killing enemies of higher levels than we are. I don't like that I get the same amount for killing a level 2 enemy and a level 8 enemy if I'm level 5...

It's weird. The bulk of experience you'll get in the game is either going to come as a bonus for completing a mission, or from turning in quests. For what it's worth you do get more of an experience bonus for taking on harder difficulty levels that are more than likely above your level.

I don't like it either :I but I can understand why it is the way it is. Take on hard missions with a good team and you can level up faster here than you could in the beta. At least that's been my experience.

Anyway, yeah I agree. It sucks. They probably should have designed the game a different way. Giving you the increased exp for individual kills + harder difficulty levels, though would have your level skyrocketing to the cap SUPER quick.

Taking pictures on Twitter.

I spent the last five minutes repairing the top of the box: https://twitter.com/Dax01/status/509416715961131008

I feel your pain Dax

I am in the U.S.
Yea, surprised to hear it's everywhere. Was yours packed the same way? No brown paper on the bottom?

It was packed well. The outer box hasn't got a scratch on it. The main Destiny box though, as you can see, is ripped. It does seem like it's the same no matter where in the world you are.

I cannot find a primary weapon worth a shit to save my life (literally). Still stuck with the uncommon vanguard auto which is absolute poop. Where is my Cydonia???????

WHY ARE THERE NO ENGRAMS DROPPING ANYWHERE ANYMORE?! WHERE IS MY CASH MONEY?!!?! I DON'T WANT ANY MORE CACTUS PLS THX.

Soloing hard seems like a waste of time, not that much more xp, stuff takes ages to kill, the risk of dying is much greater and I still get a shitty white item for completing the quest. This is early on.
I guess if the challenge isn't appeal to you in itself then *shrug* There's little penalty for dying (although right now I'm on a Bounty to kill 100 enemies without dying- such a good if heartbreaking "quest" idea). Stuff shouldn't really take ages to kill though. Headshots count for a lot.

Man, everyone has their Fireteam set to closed. I was hoping catching matches with randoms would be like Borderlands. I'm never going to get to play with anyone. :/

Easily the most disappointing thing for me. What a wasted opportunity!

Got that Cydonia my first time through Earth strike

Had the game since morning. Haven't had a chance to play yet. Putting the kids to bed now and should get a few hours in.

I'll be playing on PS4.
PSN: Buzza_

Does anyone else think green item upgrades are more rare now than in the beta? Currently level 7 with a ton of white crap

When they say rare, they actually mean rare now. Most times when I open a loot chest (which also doesn't appear as often as before), I get spin metal and glimmer :/

I think it's because there's a little bit more of a story here than there is in Borderlands, which is ostensibly just a bunch of fart jokes. I think people are probably just doing things solo at first to experience what little narrative there is without a bunch of people talking over the dialogue or having mic echo blast so loud they can't here the audio.

Usually if you just play with your party open plenty of people should just drop in assuming, that your friends list is large enough. If it's not, that's what we're here for!

Well I played it for a few hours tonight, just about finished earth. As a long time halo fan felt kinda odd playing a game on playstation from Bungie, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm almost level 6 and I'm amazed at my ability to stay alive, had my nephew it fits of laughter having loads of mobs etc trying to chase me and kill me as I ran around and jumped. It's fun, the story is a bit thin so far but it's fun and I'm happy with my purchase.

ATTENTION FELLOW WESTCOASTGAF MEMBERS:

As we all sit here and watch the damn Europeans play, we can do nothing but try and focus on work. So, let's all hook up tonight and kill things! Add me on PSN. Will be home by 5pm PST and installing the game by 5:01pm.

I'm talking free roam/exploring/story mode coop here. Not a big PVP guy but I love going over every nook and cranny looking for secrets. I'm old as fuck (41) so no energy drink squeals or ADD from me. If I commit to a fight I stay until the bitter end!

Added you. Repping oldGAF (37) East coast but my playtimes are weird. Strictly PvE for the most part (Unless I see something sexy from Iron Banner)

I was expecting a combination of both which is essentially what Borderlands is too me. My friend beat the story missions and he says its all the same which really sucks.

For you guys that have studied and theorycrafted the skill list to death, which class looks to be the most OP'ed and/or necessary?

Most OP is probably going to be bladedancer, I think. They're basically just straight up DPS.

Most necessary is probably going to be a sunsinger warlock/denfender titan in equal parts. One handles cooldowns, the other can buff the party. Probably leaning slightly towards titan, not so much because of the skill trees themselves but just because there's probably going to be fewer titan players than warlocks.

I got a rare encoded engram. Does anyone know if their level is set when you pick them up or when you ID them?

I can't figure it out. If I'm a lower level and I kill someone who is a higher level because I fight a great battle I get really nothing for it. There is really no incentive to fight higher level enemies in Patrol.

Hahahah, oh man.

OT2 already and it's only Day 1. Thank God no one took up my $5 bet yesterday.

I wouldn't have given anyone anything, anyway.

I understand where people are coming from with the story complaints but I really don't agree with the idea that it harms the game. Having some bombastic six-hour Halo-style campaign would be completely out of place in a game like this, to me. I really like that you're given lore rather than out-and-out narrative. Like the more you go through areas and see what sort of enemies are there, you're getting an idea about what happened to the place (alongside the admittedly blunt exposition from your Ghost). I'm really enjoying the way that the game hints at what's going on in its lore, and I think it's a good way of making the story of the game be about the state of the universe in general rather than the exploits of one individual.
