Destiny |OT2| The Last Guardians

I made an impulse buy today of a PS4/Destiny bundle. I hate spending huge amounts of money but I thought now was the right time (lots of deals on ps4 at the moment and i can only presume these will cease as the run up to xmas begins).

Have a day off on Thursday so i'm hoping that it arrives then and I can spend the day getting into this.

There is no embargo. Everyone started playing it just yesterday. Any site worth it's salt will not post reviews till later this week. Or Monday.

On a related note, I wonder if reviewers will beat the raid before posting a final score. It sounds like the raid is where they are really pushing the FPS genre. Would be incomplete to review the game without finishing the raid.

You're essentially underleveled in those areas and the game is telling you to fuck right off.

Not if your weapon doesn't do enough damage. I ran down there while at level 4 with a random level 2 with me. Shot a few times and saw the damage come back as 'Immune' to I turned around and pointed to the exit. Luckily the random realized what my pointing meant and we ran away.
 
I am reading the guide (cant play till friday) you guys know about this orb system, sounds awesome and is probably the key for the raid mode.

Basically enemies you kill and how well you kill them generates orbs that refill supers but you cant pick them up, only teamates can. So generating orbs so your teamates can keep using supers can be a huge strategy.
 
Oh lord it's done loading. I'm going in never to come back folks. Don't expect to see any posts from me for a good while today LOL. Maybe during loading screens aha.

Pretty much. I tried to throw a grenade and it told me they were immune. I ran back like a girl cuz i knew they were gonna be relentless.

They roll at the level you are when you decrypt them. I saved the reward from one of the first missions and decrypted it at level 6; I got level 6 leg armor.

Ah man, wish I knew that. I decrypted everything right away. Early missions are easy and I could have done them without any extra armor. Should have waited. Oh well. Thanks for the info.

Same here. I got my copy 9 hours ago... I've been reading impressions the whole day lol... just waiting for the reviews, knowing that there won't be any... anytime soon. The impressions seem to be pretty mixed and that's the issue. Single player and story suck? That doesn't sound too hot, imo.

And I'm not saying that if Destiny ends up getting high metascore I'll automatically like it (or vice versa), but still... It's the first time this (game is out, no reviews) is happening for me and tbh, I need my placebo. Metacritic 80? I'll return it, I have massive backlog to clear. 90 and GOTY material? Let's do this. I don't know why I'm admitting that. Guess I'm an idiot. :S

Yeah I think it's safe to say that you should ignore any review before the raids go live as that's allegedly a bulk of the game as I understand it.

The Raid Redemption?
 
The patrol missions on the moon are a lot more fun than the Old Russia ones. Also found a lot more loot chests - it was actually hard for me to stop playing in true loot game fashion...

10/11 hours straight today. Stopping now. Love it.
 
Man this work day is to fucking slow (and I have a meeting tomorrow that's out of town, so not going to get much game in tonight either ughhhhh).

Well I'm off in about 90 minutes. Any gaffers want to team up from the start?

IIRC those orbs are dropped when you kill enemies with your super and yes it is a great strategy in PVP also if you are able to chain supers with your teamates. Im sure this will be key in the raid. I cant wait to play it.

how and where do I do that? Mine is downloaded but I can't find where to renew/set as primary whatever whatever, i think i messed something up months ago when i downloaded warthunder off the EU stores

Pretty sure you can run everything with just one friend. Join up together and then have whoever is leader close off the party. Basically go into the character menu and then bump over to the left menu where the friends list is. That's where all the party menu options are.
 
I just found this cool crater on the moon. Looked pretty empty, but still interesting, and I was excited to check it out. I hop in and am immediately faced with a "Turn Back!" message. The sense of exploration in this game is smoke and mirrors.
 
Having a lot of fun with it. PvP was a bit overwhelming since I was matched up with 13s and 14s when I was level 5 or 6. Every encounter was a struggle but then my other matches went better. The world is very good looking though and I'm digging the music.

Somewhat off-topic but is anyone having issues trying to upload share videos from PS4? Keep getting "Please Wait..." followed by an error. I'm guessing PSN is just doing it's best to stay alive right now. I wanted to put up some Destiny videos.
 
Excited to get off work at 7 to play, but I have to say that my hype for the game is at an all time low, from impressions that touch upon the worries I had with the game.

Yeah it's not really open world per se. It's more like a very, very large dungeon with smaller dungeons segmented inside it. It's.... weird.

I went in hoping for something that would scratch my PSO itch and boy does it ever. That sense of things being cordoned, off while simultaneously hinting at a larger world doesn't personally bother me as I kind of expected it, but I could definitely see where some would find it furiously irritating.

Looks like the boxes were not designed to stack and withstand pressure a certain way... and they got stacked that way...
 
Just got my retail limited edition! I redeemed the codes for the extra stuff but there was no 'download' button. How do I download it? I'm sure others have asked but this thread moves fast.
