Games you remember, names you don't

I hope one of you guys remembers the game I'm about to describe.

It is a playstation one game. It's a 2d cartoony platform game where you play as a little boy.

What I remember most is the opening sequence where the boy climbs up his treehouse, which turns into some yellow submarine-looking time machine or something, and is transported to where the game takes place.

I was never able to complete the game as it was a rental from a mom and pop video store.

PC platformer from the mid 90's. (Or maybe the Amiga....... possibly PS1)

You where some blond military cartoon dude.

Gameplay was 2D but you could move between different the background and foreground at times.

NOT Duke Nukem.

Game I'm thinking of was for the PS2, you were like part of an elite space marine group and you had to go to some compound/space ship(can't remember) with a bunch of your buddies. When you got there you found out there was some kind of virus/ghost thing that turned everyone into zombies I think. Your squad mates got infected too I think and were boss battles.

Heart of Darkness

The game starred a pink-haired Tarzan-like character who fought pigs. He had all these suits that powered him up in many ways a la Mario. It was a charming game, really.
You should buy this on PSN immediatly....played it for the first time recently and i was really fun and charming as hell

For the new page, since I'm really interested to see if someone can track it down:

Okay, so I've got a more recent one. I think it was released within the last couple of years but I've forgotten what it was called. I've never actually played it but it always looked interesting, as a result I'm going off memorized screenshots so I might be inaccurate.

It's an indie game, and one that I think might follow the "learning the rules is part of the puzzle" approach similar to that of Starseed Pilgrim. I think it took place in a glitchy looking (maybe black and white) world, and I vaguely remember seeing terminals scattered around that you could use to "hack" the world to do what you wanted.

The art was pretty simple. Pretty much straight 2d art from the 1980's, with heavy use of glitching effects similar to those from old tile loading errors.

Pretty sure the game had a side view camera, not top down. Can't remember if it was a side scroller or used a flip-screen, but I think it was maybe the latter.

Heart of Darkness

I just did a youtube search of it, and my gosh, I'm in tears for finally being reunited with the one game I've never completed.

And in seeing the opening again, I've forgotten a lot of it. hahahaha

Thank you so much for helping me out in figuring out the name of the game. :)

About 10 years ago (maybe even more) I played this game on friend's old PC. My memory is really foggy but I remember it was 2D top-down shooter, starring a guy fighting with dinosaurs. I think first level (maybe the only one, if this game was only about surviving as long as you can) took place on some desert (or other planet?). It could be freeware. Sorry for very vague description, but that's all I can remember, so I won't be angry if no one will know what I'm talking about :)

Maybe The Thing or Extermination? I'm thinking maybe more the latter of the two.

Run Like Hell

or maybe

Martian Gothic Unification for PS1

Posting this again. Anyone know what the music at the very start of this video is from? I know I've heard it before and it's bothering me. I messaged the guy who made the video, but haven't gotten a response.

Sounds kind of Xenobladey, but I don't think it's actually Xenoblade. Something else by Yoko Shimomura?

I vaguely remember reading a "Weirdest game ever" style article in a magazine about a retro Japanese game that had kids ringing a hotline (Nintendo's I assume) in tears because they couldn't work out that they had a to press a button 200 times to beat a part of this game. Apparently it was full of stupid abstract things like that because the developer hated... everything I suppose.
There may have been a picture of a fairground roundabout next to the article but for all I know that was for another game.

Yeah it's a long shot but does anybody have any ideas?

Takeshi no Chosenjo. There's a fun episode of Gamecenter CX about this.

Doesn't seem like anyone managed to figure it out, but after google searching random keywords I managed to find the game I was after. Fjords.

I'm searching a game I played years ago.
  • I'm almost sure it was a ps1 game. But maybe it was a ps2 game.
  • I played it at 2005 or before.
  • The main character was like a bug, it could shoot small electric bolts (I dont' remember if that was its main weapon).
  • I think it was a platformer.
  • There was a wild west level, where there were enemies who were cowboys, maybe they could shoot you, and cactuses.
  • There was also a lava level, and you were riding the lava with a flat rock, I think.
Can you be more descriptive. You're description don't give much to go on

I also have a game which I don't remember the title of. It might be too little information or hard to find but I thought I give it a try.
-PC game
-Freeware as far as I remember (which probably makes it insanely hard to find)
-A ball/marble game where you have to navigate through levels (which were kinda big IIRC) to the end in a fast manner
-Atleast 10 years+ old (must've played it around the early 2000's)
-It had kinda vibrant colors in its levels (I think they were made of unicolored blocks for the most part)
-I think it had a number in the title (but might not be the case so I'm open to titles without numbers)

Thanks for any help!

my boss was asking for help remembering a game. Top down shooter from early 90s, probably on the Genesis. Said you played as like a punk rocker and you'd recruit other NPC charterers to go out and fight with you. Ring any bells?

Zapper: One Wicked Cricket (PS2/Xbox/GC/PC). It's got to be.

Lots of candidates here! Are we talking 3D (like Super Monkey Ball), isometric (like Marble Madness) or top-down (like Oxyd)? Or something else?

Good luck everyone.

Apple II (gs?). 80s sometime. One of my teachers was friends with someone who made this game. Maybe it was freewared around?

It has a hybrid top-down/isometric view where you control this little white ball-looking guy with legs who basically has to push things around and avoid enemies. One hit one kill.

Each level has a name and the farthest I got was the level titled "heaven and hell" where there were actually two exits to the level. There was an easy path to one exit and another filled with enemies. If you took the easy path the next level was fire and you just kept dying until you lost all your lives.

It had colored graphics, a lot of reds and oranges I think.

Marble Blast would be my guess - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marble_Blast_Gold

Posting this for my GAF-lurking buddy as I'm unfortunately at a loss:

Said buddy said:
Basically, you were an animal control officer trying to catch some monster-like creature with a weird name. You'd get reports of neighborhood sightings, and you could choose to investigate, set up traps, etc. E.g., "Help! I think I just saw a [insert creature's name here] in my back yard!" I never did catch one of 'em.
Apple II / Oregon Trail era. Anyone?

Was gonna ask about this game, but I did a little Googling and found it.. played this on an old Tandy PC back when I was four or five. (My brother had set it up for me.)

Behold... Drakkhen (never could find it before because I thought it was spelled Drakan, which only brings up that other game.

Eggerland?

Top down view ala Commando, Neo-geo like graphics and octogonal sticks you could turn like oven buttons, 2 players, first level is a jungle. Mercs, Commando, Mercenaries in the title probably. Any ideas?

Just a quick guess but maybe Ikari Warriors? Probably not but figured I'd offer just in case.

It's been bothering me for years:

  • Game from late 90s, early 2000 (I remember playing Knights and Merchants around that time and the first Age of Wonders but might have already played Ground Control too...)
  • An RTS
  • On PC, obviously
  • In space
  • 2D
  • Your base is a space station, that you can add modules to expand it
  • The units can circle in space or land on asteroids
  • Later on you can attach engines to the space station, turning it into a flying fortress

Ok, when I was a lil kid, I had this sorta demo cartidge for the sega genesis that had several game demos(atleast I remember them being demos) in one, one of them was a race car game, a specific kind infact like the F1 kinda speedster race cars thats popular in europe, I remember it being 3Dish like with polygons and such, and remember you can go into a pitstop to fix your car up, which I did everytime cause I just loved doing it for some reason

No, the graphics were way better than that. I bit cartoony ala Metal Slug. The setting was mostly something like the Vietnam war or something.
The biggest draw was the octagonal sticks, you could move in 8 directions AND ALSO turn the stick in 8 positions to shoot in a different direction you were walking.

Caliber .50?
