You can tell Luke Smith designed this game. Even Reach they loved giving small rewards for a lot of work. Loot is so rare in this game, and Bungie expects you too grind n' grind. He loved MMOs and obviously Destiny took a lot of that. I like the Borderlands model more -- where you're just always bombarded with stuff.

Shooting mechanics are a lot of fun though and so far I have only played solo.

Okay, hold on, this post might get lost in the sea of new players but...

Is it true that people have already beaten the game? I thought it would last longer because of the online stuff around it, been checking around and people claim that the game is very short and that you only need to be around Lv.17 to beat it.

If so, I'm kinda bummed, I thought the online portion of this would be a good way to keep the game fresh or whatever. I have been quite out of the loop about this game, but I was kinda interested about it, beating it in a few hours and not having a reason to come back would be a dealbreaker.

Holy shit I just realized there are no real reviews on this game yet. Bungie is straight up giving the press the middle finger and just saying screw off we don't need your marketing channels, our games will sell without it..

They were given the game early, but the servers JUST went live, so the reviewers are playing with us. IGN, GameSpot, and Gametrailers have all said look for a review between Friday and next Tuesday. With Rais not going live until Tuesday I think they may wait to publish.

Anyone any ideas about the sound problem? There are no options to change sound levels so that means I have to change the volume in the PS4 settings, when I lower the volume it also lowers voice volume. WTF is there literally no sound options in game to change effects/music/voice levels? If I want to chat with people I can't bloody hear them cause the effects drown out their voice (using audio technica headphones).

Just had my best ever Crucible match. 20 kills, 6.whatever K/D Ratio. Lawd.

I'm in love all over again. Even though I was already in love with the Alpha and Beta. Destiny tickles my pickle.

Yup. Lvl 25.

All you do for endgame is repeating the same 5 (6 strikes on PS) over and over again to get some better light gear. Then you wait for them to unlock the Raid.

Well the story missions last until 17ish then it's a matter of getting 20 and getting the gear to do the hard mode of strikes. After that there's the 1 raid and PvP. Not exactly a wealth of content.

You ever play DCUO? The "Leveling" portion is only a small part of the game.

Hey guys, doesn't the Vanguard armory give you three different ships? I got the warlock one (valkyrie-o5x) but got it for my Hunter as well. I could have sworn there were 3 included; one for each class?

ships? no. ship.

bruh

you can 'finish' the story missions before you even get to level 20 if that's your only goal. just like how you could 'finish' diablo or 'finish' borderlands

There are no sound sliders in the options. I use Audio Technicas as well, and it's sometimes had to hear people. The only solution is to use party chat, which seems to make chat volume louder. I really hoped Bungie would have addressed this.

I really don't know what to make of these Strikes. I just spent 30 minutes emptying my guns on a single boss. No changes to the boss' pattern during the fight, no openings for critical damage to make things faster. Nothing, except the occasional fill of minions sent out to make things more of a hell and to drop you ammo because you've ran out of every type of ammo five times by 15 minutes. Just dodging missiles and peeking from behind crates in the hopes that you don't get wiped out after 20 minutes of this torture.

It wasn't challenging, just tedious as fuck. It's been this way for all the Strike missions I've completed thus far (four of them). All of the bosses have just felt like brick walls, XL size versions of normal enemies with inifite health. Consider my expectations for Raids lowered by a significant amount.

Damn this game is good.

It sucks that the loading times are atrocious, but overall gameplay is good. Addictive. Had a blast playing co-op with buddies. MP is classic Bungie gameplay which I didn't mind. Overall, very happy about it but its not as special as it was claimed to be. It also seems to be short on content. I am already level 12 and still in the Moon but yeah... seems to be short.

Its pretty damn fun though, and the loot aspect will keep me coming for eons.

Anyone tell me how to get the vanguard armour , redeemed on ps4 and downloaded but in the game at the quartermaster all items are level 20.

Tried the restore licenses in settings but nothing , will have to try again tonight , seems very clunky

Alright, thanks. Haven't played DCUO though. :P

And yeah, I know you can go ahead and 'finish' Diablo or Borderlands, but at least the latter was a bit longer than just a few hours. For all that 'lore' and story talk, I was surprised to see people already beating the game in just a few hours.

Guess I'll wait for more impressions, then, thanks again. (:

Just picked up Destiny and a Gold Headset, woo! I'm wondering how do you get the Destiny Audio profile for the headset? or is it not out yet?

Edit - Nevermind, didn't see that the app had an update. Do you guys find the audio profile adds a great deal to the sound or no?

Yep, that's basically an MMO boss.

Need help Destiny Gaf. Earlier when playing, I opened the in game friends list and one of my friends ( I don't remember which) had an emblem that looked like the legendary symbol for Halo.

Legendary.jpg

I've looked through all of the websites that go over all of the emblems and I can't find anything about this emblem. Am I going crazy?

That's ridiculous... How the fuck do they not include any audio options... It's essentially unplayable in this state if you are wearing headphones.

I wasn't targetting you specifically as the term has been thrown around a lot in this thread.

I'm hugely disappointing in the game for what it could have been.

In my situation I am the only one of my friends with a PS4, all my friends picked it up on the 360 or XB1. So my perspective is for the solo player, I have no doubt that this game is a blast in groups.

I did play a bit in beta so shame on me, I just assumed joining public missions would be added as it is pretty much a standard now.

The mission mechanics are a copy/paste from Halo, which is no big whoop as I like halo, but the story arc is B movie quality and it is just tedium fighting waves and waves of the same 4 or 5 mobs.

To break the tedium, I goto PVP and after getting my ass handed to me for a while, I adapt and currently love it (yay!). Only you cannot get a group set and actually speak to people unless they are part of you fireteam (I assume you can bring pre-made into PVP?) again something that is standard fare.

It is hard to express tone in posts, most of these issues are more baffling to me than holy shit this game sucks, the game is worth the money I spent on it but Bungie has the expertise (all of these features have been in Halo) , time and unlimited money making this game..so what happened?

I apologize for calling you out a bit in my message, i typed it at work and just got home and realized it was rude, i'm quitting smoking and am just the biggest grump lately.

You're points are of course valid, i'm sorry you're let down with the game. I'm hoping the game opens up more at end game myself, but i'm happy with whats there.

If you lack people to play, i've only played with gaffers myself so far so come join us! we're fun to play w/. None of my friends have jumped into this generations console cycle yet myself. Maybe we can turn you around on the game, or make sure you get enough fun to justify your purchase

yes i broke down and had a smoke after work =/

I just wish there were some variety to the patrol missions/sidequests. Throw in some wildlife to hunt, sparrow or pike races, item crafting like poisons, bombs or something, alchemy, etc...

I don't know, some more diversity would've been nice.
