Destiny |OT2| The Last Guardians

Put a solid 3-4 hours into it tonight.

I'm enjoying it, but I'm really curious to see how long it'll last. I'll probably end up burning through all the story stuff and then shelving it for good. Gunplay feels great, but... I don't know, just seems like something is missing.

Bummed about the story telling. So much potential and it just falls flat. Still, looking forward to keep playing some more. We'll see what happens.

What has Bungie been doing since Reach? Titanfall almost had more content and story than this game and they crammed it in 18 months.

I know right?

Cynically I think most of the features and content were held back for Destiny 2 and the expansion packs. Otherwise, why have Activision invested so much into this.

Some of these strike bosses are annoying as hell.
They can sit there bullet sponging for literally an hour, 1hit kill you if you try your special attack and have a billion non-stop swarms of adds.

The Moon boss is ridiculous.

We had 4 wizards and 3 knights camping on the perch making it almost impossible to get around.

Massive dance party when we eventually won.

100% sure that strike is getting tuned down in a patch

How does Destiny compare to Warframe?

They're very different, and play differently. I'd say Warframe is definitely more frenetic, and better when it comes to loot and customization. Seems like Destiny is more of a slow burn type deal.

I prefer Destiny. The production value is much, much higher.

I beat the game, and I'm seriously disappointed. I love Bungie, but I don't feel Destiny does anything noteworthy for the FPS genre. Perhaps I'm even more disappointed because Bungie has toted Destiny as the next 'Halo'; a game-changer.

Halo already happened. There will never be another 'Halo'.

I find it sad to hear how Destiny was originally conceived as a high fantasy open-world RPG. Bungie has already made their mark on shooters. Destiny feels like a huge case of playing it safe, which isn't what I've come to expect from Bungie. Fundamentally, the game is good. Polished, pretty, the gunplay is what you've come to expect from the studio behind Halo. But nothing more. Forgettable.

Now, marvel at what could have been, had Bungie stuck with the high fantasy genre:

We could have had something really special here, an open-world RPG with Bungie's world design and a new kind of action gameplay.

Maybe Destiny 2? I never expected something innovative after playing the beta/alpha but I'm having a good time regardless

How the fuck do I take down that giant thing that comes out of the wall during the mission back in Russia, where you have to grab a warp drive?

There are special Bungie emblems for people who have played 4-6 of Bungie's previous games, among other things. I'm not sure of all the specific ones, but they do exist.

Edit- more info here: http://www.bungie.net/en-us/Forum/Post/68856260/0/0/1

If you invite them, they quit out of whatever they are doing and join your game. Vice versa if they invite you accept.

Thanks, but these are the emblems you are talking about. None match the one I saw.

I feel like Bungie did some cramming on their own given the awful reveal and early previews.

iirc this has been in some stage of development since Halo 3 was finished. Think about how much time that is.

rofl @ titanfall 'almost' has more content than destiny

anyone says that kind of shit just needs to ignored permanently

So what about the 'Become Legend' slogan? Does it actually mean anything? Or is it as empty and generic as the 'Darkness' villain?

So the Vanguard Armory stuff.. It's the stuff on the first line on the Vanguard Quartermaster store? So I still have to buy it with ingame money?

Ahhh. The controls in warframe is really rough for me (pc version). Though, I imagine playing an FPS on the ps4 is gonna be rough as well aiming wise. I figure i'll get used to it eventually. Thanks, I think I need a slowburn anyway. Nice to know, thanks!

That's what happens when you plan on only releasing on past gen systems and then have a big OH S!@# moment when you realize that you have to release for next gen as well because you took too long.

yikes metacritic scores are starting to look bad.

ps4 metacritic = 5.8

xbone metacritic = 4.7

Is the game really this horrible? Don't know if I should but it now....

I just wish there were some variety to the patrol missions/sidequests. Throw in some wildlife to hunt, sparrow or pike races, item crafting like poisons, bombs or something, alchemy, etc...

I don't know, some more diversity would've been nice.

Exactly, all of those things need to be in the game IMO. Especially hunting and sparrow races. I played the alpha and beta and I'm now up to level 9 in the full game. I still like it but knowing that there isn't much variety in the patrol missions is kind of disappointing. The good thing is that since patrol missions are basically just for grinding, they could possibly add more variety later without effecting the story.

Hey QQ all...

If I have my mic on, and I am part of a fireteam, can I speak to my other members? Or do we all need to join a party via the PS4 menu??

When my friend was talking, I saw a mic next to his name, but I could not hear anything.

There has to be a way to chat with other fireteam members while not part of any party...

Thanks

There are people who are giving it a 0 because "it's too much like borderlands" and then there are people giving it a 0 because " it's not enough like borderlands".
Then of course you have the crowd that is tanking the score because it's online only....

Not to defend the game, but metacritic shouldn't be even looked at this early. I mean...just read the reviews to see how BS user reviews tend to be.

However, I do believe the score will be fairly mixed when this settles down.

Well, some people (myself included) may be disappointed, but if Blizzard managed to turn Diablo 3 from an absolute turd to a (reportedly) satisfying game with enough updates, I guess anything's possible.

How long is a play through on SP?

Average time.

If you want to pleasurelessly force yourself through everything, I'd say about 14 hours (probably less) if you've got friends who want to drudge it out with you.

But I hit level 18 with only doing a single mission on the moon so the game can be stretched in any number of ways.
