Think about it more. I emplore you to come back tomorrow with a theory of why it feels less than whole.

Well I've only played it for 12 hours so I'll see what else there is tomorrow. I basically will have the game for the entire afternoon, evening and night anyway

You won't start earning them until lvl 18 now.

Well that explains it. What a strange decision. That also kind of sets a red alert off in my head because it feels like at that point if you're dedicated enough to get to level 18 they kind of expect you to keep going by saying "LOOK MORE STUFF KEEP PLAYING... PLEASE."

They really just need to root the missions into the progression a bit more. You make some monumental historic discovery or wipe out some massive threat and then bounce back to the Tower to tell everyone and your class dude just has a one sentence written reaction and gives you a pair of pants.

Since everyone is complaining about mission variety, is like to know what kind of missions you think should be in it?
Cause it's a FPS, it's gonna have waves and protect missions.

Simple, just play one of these levels from the Halo games...

The Covenant - Halo 3, Keyes - Halo CE, Uplift Reserve - Halo 3: ODST, Reclaimer - Halo 4, Long Night of Solace - Halo Reach, Shutdown - Halo 4, Exodus - Halo Reach, Two Betrayals - Halo CE, The Ark - Halo 3, The Silent Cartographer - Halo CE, Tsavo Highway - Halo 3 and it goes on and on.

It also helped that the story in those games help push the pace and things kept getting crazier as you go through the campaign.

PSA to people posting their online tags in this thread: Please make sure you're actually willing to play with a stranger from GAF before you give out your PSN/Gamertag. I've got a friends list full of GAF friends and am having a much harder time getting a three man fireteam than I should.

If you're will accept a Destiny invite from someone you've never met then feel free to add me on PSN. My username is Afrodium.

As much as I'm enjoying this game. I have to say it really makes me feel like playing Halo. It's a good game, but Halo it'l never be, not to me anyway.

Never played a halo campaign before this lol. I'll give it a try when the halo collection comes out.

Hey friend, glad you think you know me, let me clue you in

Halo 3 - best game I've ever played. Halo 4 - loved it.

Destiny Alpha - great! Great display of what the future could be. A nice tease.

Destiny Beta - Nice. You guys are polishing this. Expecting something impressive from the people who brought us Halo 1, 2, and 3.

Destiny - man, you guys really tweaked this to be MMO. Not enough enemies, enemies are too difficult, poor matchmaking.. you name it.

Try playing games that aren't ripping you off in a criminal manner.

Calm down. Bungie didn't burn your house down.

They're not that desperate.

So I think playing on hard makes this a much better experience.

You actually have to use cover and move around the spaces and be smart. It has the faintest shadow of that good halo gameplay on hard.

I'm under leveled and get my ass kicked immediately but its pretty fun!

Bungie.. These loading times are unacceptable though. Fix it?

I hope you are joking. Did you expect them to release anything but what you played in the beta?

You must have missed that massive thread when someone DARED to conclude that the beta was a good indicator of the amount of content to be found on each planet. He was right in the end but very few people wanted to believe it.

I am glad I waited on impressions because when I played the beta with my cousin the game bored us to death. Doing the same thing over and over for 5 hours got old pretty quick. If the game goes on sale for $30 I would maybe give it a shot as a time waster but it just couldnt capture my attention during the beta.

Initial impressions up to level 5
- hopefully the story missions are more than go here kill this guy, loading screen, next mission.
- The constant moving back and forth to the menus seems to break the flow of the game. I like the free roam patrols but wish the world was bigger.
- Not used to coming up to enemies that you have no chance of beating, last game I played like that was Fallout 3. Had fun though.

Yeah, I've been doing everything on hard. It has lead to some really fun encounters.

Which outrage: people outraged about the game not being what they wanted it to be or the outrage at people being outraged?

Because quite frankly, I've seen shit from both.

You're implying that I meant one side or the other. Quite frankly, both sides are equally ridiculous.

That better be an Awoken under there, Math. I will end you otherwise.

He/ she is on about the outrage of the people being outraged about people being outraged.

I'm a "he", and, on rare occasions, an "it".

We got Peter Molyneux'd

I honestly kinda expected this type of reaction. Fortunately my expectations after the beta were that it'd be a fun bit of pvp. It is that, at least.

Got about 8 hours clocked in at this point, and I'm level 15. I've only gotten to the 2nd moon mission and did a decent amount of pvp... I'm wondering why they even bothered implementing a level up mechanic when it's this easy to max.

to 1. No, from what I've seen it doesn't get to much more than that and defense mission.

Holy shit.

Just added some upgrades to my already sick shotgun.

Also won a ton of stuff in my five control matches.

How are people complaining there's nothing to do? Between bounties and PVP and story and my upgrades and now I'm level 7 almost 8 and aaaaaaaaaa

Are the vanguard pre-order items level bound to whenever you pick them up? Should I wait till I max my character for when I grab them or just get the now? (Currently level 5).

Bungie has made a very solid PvE game here.

Sadly, it is attached to one of the most wretched PvP creations in the modern history of gaming. This is a mode with nothing but raw contempt for the player, and every round is an insult to the consumer that put down money with the hope of participating in a well designed, well executed experience.

Shameful, considering the pedigree and talent involved. Shameful.

How do you unlock the Vanguard Armory exactly? I did the steps found in a video earlier in the thread, and unlocked it for myself but my friend tried and still doesn't have access.

Sooo

I was playing all day with my friend and have only found green items. Mostly whites.

Kinda kills the loot aspect of the game if we only ever find a rare item once in a blue moon. Especially while leveling. I get the feeling that when we do they won't even be that great.

I understand the idea of it being special but spending a ton of time clearing a strike only to get no drops off the boss and a crappy green item you'll replace very quick anyway is really lame.

Also the story is very weak.

I'm enjoying the coop aspect but so far the experience isn't amazing.

Is there any benefit to rerolling a new character? If not that sounds bad..

Hm? They have a solid PvE game? I didn't feel that at all. I felt the PvE was consistently shallow and repetitive.

Personally I feel this game's strength is its pvp. Sure, it's not mindblowingly good and has some balance issues(Fortunately they fixed most of them), but it's fun.

From the beta, rerolling isn't terrible, but there's only two options when you do so.

You wish upon a star and pray that Bungie-senpai notices you, only to realize that he never will.

I have no idea.

I was pretty interested in playing multiple classes, but there doesn't seem to be enough difference between them for it to matter.

I would've liked am ore Mass Effect approach to class design, with magic having more importance in a class makeup, but I can understand why they designed it this way.
