It's a green (uncommon) drop. Ironically It was pretty common in the Beta and you can buy it from the weapon vendor in the tower every so often. If you just keep on playing story missions and I guarantee you'll get one at some point. Either that a Shingen-C or even a Galahad B or C will do to start (the vendor will have one of these for you to buy now). They require the least amount of skill to use so that's why I use them.
Oh and headshots are so vital in the MP. If you're not hitting the sweet spot then chances are you'll be killed first.

Honestly you just have to do it yourself. Get people on your friendlist and play together, trying to do it via the in-game press R3 crap is pure garbage. You don't know if the person has a headset, you dont know if they want to group, you dont know how long they are gonna be online, what they want to do. Again, this is why you should be able to do matchmaking for ALL the story missions.
Maybe, though I couldn't help but notice the grimoires on the app have a page for jupiter and mercury already.
Public events happen on timers. In the beta depending on the event it was 15 or 30 minute intervals.
Hang around an area long enough and an event will start. If you keep travelling area to area your chance of missing them is greater.
At some point some helpful person will work out the timings so you can complete one then know which area to head to to catch the next one that happening.

aren't jupiter and mercury PvP maps?
Look at your ghost. There will be an icon. You can also usually spot the drop ships or whatever coming in.

Go to options, roster, fire team and click the icon at the top of the list.

Is it true the story is horrible? One of the main reasons I was excited for this game was the awesome story. Now that single player mode seems to be horribly repetitive with no real "amazing" sequences/levels, what's the appeal of this game beyond gunplay and visuals/art?

Uhm sure you can. Press start and then l1 and select firetean privacy
There's hardly any story in the game at all, it's super disappointing when Bungie have created such a huge world in and around Destiny.
i'd say that the "story" if you expect a traditional video game story is bad, yes but if you want a backstory and worldbuilding via looking at stuff, listening to what is being said and reading grimoire cards, then it's actually pretty cool.
I wish we could enter the city.

If Jupiter has a map I will get a flight to the US, find Bungie headquarters and give them a science lesson. And I'll trade in the game.
I just finished the story. Wow, that was boring. It feels like they took Halo and watered it down to fit their ambitions for a new franchise. I literally spent 15 hours shooting scout rifles (and sometimes auto rifles), scrounging for universal ammo clips, and holding 'X' so my ghost can do a thing to make more enemies appear. Enemies aren't fun to fight because they all take way too many bullets. There are too few chests to make exploration feel worthwhile. And I could go on and on but now I'm just bummed out.
Didn't they turn Jupiter into a garden world?
I have no idea anymore, I just shoot mans.

Man I was actually complaining about how quick enemies die in this cause headshots with every weapon are easy and super damaging.

There really isn't a story at all and it is one of the major flaws with the game. It is the exact opposite of Bioshock Infinite in that regard.
Out of all the complaints the enemies taking too many shots isn't one that I would have. It is even worse when you are playing with a couple friends. Boom headshot, over and over. Maybe I should start playing the stuff on Hard, I just didn't want to over level and make it even easier.
It's probably because I was underleveled most of the time, because I just wanted to be done with it.
Well do remember that we are talking about Traveler space magic here and humanity using it for centuries.
In the time from present day to destiny times humanity ascended to the golden age terraformed mars into a second earth and then by now mars is back to a red planet.
seriously a LOT of fucking time passes in Destiny. Like,the Hive hasn't been seen on earth for CENTURIES. Everything in this game is like hundreds and hundreds of years old/ago.

It's science fantasy, they can do whatever they fucking want.
This is the same game that has time-traveling robots for god's sake.
I feel that the AI got better too, especially when playing at hard.

Yes, don't be afraid to use your super, don't cling to it for the perfect perfect moment, the sooner you use it the sooner it restores, if you kill people while using it, others can pick up orbs of light to fuel their super quicker

I wouldn't bet on it. Making new areas costs more money than reusing old ones.

Yes science fantasy. You have to have some freaking form of physics in place. If you are disregarding physics completely like that then you should no longer call it a science fiction/fantasy aha
I did that alone at level 6 on hard using my uncommon pulse rifle. Thought it was pretty easy.
I take it there is more enemies when you play with other ppl.
The last big enemy took just 3 rockets in his face

There is a button hidden Mercury which turns Jupiter into a smaller rock planet with yellow water.

Maybe I am blind but I am on XboxOne I see no "Fireteam Privacy" in the roster area =/ Really dumb if somehow xbox version doesn't have a simple join block funcion PS4 has.
My almost perfectly calibrated monitor on XB! needs Brightness 5 for natural light, 4 for no light.
