I'm so sick of hyperbole like this. Calling Destiny "as generic as a shooter gets" is absolutely laughable and objectively not true.

The game is fine, people. If you don't find standard FPS gameplay enjoyable, then guess what? You probably won't like Destiny.

I massively enjoy Diablo 3. Do not enjoy Destiny. Difference? The combat in D3 was much, much more satisfying. That, and the loot elements combined with the all the customization for your character were just on another level then Destiny's.

D3's combat is very satisfying. The only good thing about the game at launch was the combat system at lv. 60 going into Inferno.

Hey guys, anyone else having problems with the chat audio volume on their headsets? Im using an Astro A50 Wireless and this has a voice/game balance function but for the life of me i cant seem to get my voice audio high enough. The in game audio drowns out everything being said.

Got my warlock to lvl9 last night and loved every minute.
Done the story on earth and the 1st mission on the moon.

Also played the 1st 3 modes in the crucible. Loved the capture flag mode but found I was being outgunned on the free for all quite often.

Did a bit of free roam and experienced my 1st event when a giant spider thing was dropped out of a ship.

Yeah I was talking about this earlier. We just made a PSN party chat so it you can use the chat/game audio balance that way.

No issues here, between the in game mixer and the mixer on the Wireless Gold headphones, I'm set.

Most find it significantly better with friends. Do you like the feel of Bungie games, but with more of an emphasis on loot and leveling? That may answer the question for you^^

Okay, I should make an effort to play this with friends. The loot and leveling I will have to find out about.
I had a good time with Halo 1 and Halo 3, and completed both games in single player.

Can't wait to get into the other strike missions. Earth strike is too easy now.

Hell everything on Earth was too easy now. Even on Hard I was cakewalking through Earth only dying a couple of times. Even with mostly white gear and nothing special weapon wise at lv. 8

I was mainly talking about all the loot combined with the ability to customize your characters skill build using elective mode. Its just a lot of fun to mess around with trying out a variety of character builds.

It's easy to disregard them as they're telling me something I know isnt true.

The game could use some improvements re: communications, and some other minor tweaks. It's not perfect ,but it sure as hell is the most enjoyable hours I've put into a game in a year or so.

I'm just glad that my friends IRL, and my DGAF friends are enjoying. The randoms popping in the thread now don't matter to me.

the sword knights fucked me up more than anything. I looked over during the chaos and saw my squadmate fighting 4 wizards at once. lol

So I really only have two main issues with the game.
1. The world itself is so damn empty, and you're not really rewarded for exploring. Yea it's has big "open world" area(s), but the world is only filled with constantly respawning enemies, and a handful of loot chess.

2. The story's premise is pretty fucking awesome, but the way that they express the story through gameplay/cutscenes is absolutely horrible. It's like I know that the story is there, but the way it is executed is what the problem is. Bungie did such a great job telling the story of Halo in Halo:CE, but it seems that destiny's story is taking a backseat.

I do love the shooting, weapons, gear, UI, and everything else, but I'm just not feeling the two complaints listed above...

This is my exact feeling. Especially the story. Serious potential but the monotone boring guy who speaks for the traveller and Peter dinklage telling you most of it in between areas, and speaking to you whilst you're in the middle of a firefight makes it hard for you to follow. And it really could be an amazing story. Maybe Destiny 2 can sort this out but the only fun I'm getting out of this is messing about with friends. When they aren't playing it's really boring on your own.

Beat the last story missions last night.

While a wish more of the lore from the grimoire cards was incorporated directly into the game, I'm loving the game so far.

Basically laserlined through the story stuff and the first few strikes.

Not sure I understand the people complaining about the "encounters" being lower-par than a halo game. Definitely had some amazing moments.

The game feels very placeholder though. Hopefully bungie has a lot of content that they're going to bring out to help flesh out the setting and events.

I'm not seeing the negativity I did yesterday when it first launched and people were a little too eager to get their negative opinions out in the open. Lately seeing mainly positive about the game here and elsewhere.

I just know it is fun and I want to get home from work to play again lol. Passed out too quick last night, hours before I meant to.

All, but different classes get different pieces of the whole set. If your Warlock gets a piece that you want for your hunter make sure to put it in your vault! ^^

I agree with this. So far it's a solid 8/10 for me. Need to experience more of the game but so far I'm having a blast.

Don't care for the story (didn't care for Halo's story either) and some design decisions annoy me but as far as gameplay goes, it's very enjoyable.

Can't wait to reach the level cap and go after the endgame gear.

If I was reviewing, I'd give it a 7/10.

It's a good game but the multiplayer isn't anything special, especially compared to Halo. The mission structure is extremely repetitive, but this series does have so much potential. Destiny 2 should be a lot better.

Some of the later planets really open things up. Last planet I haven't even gotten a chance to really explore but it seems like the largest map. I could be wrong.

Its super shitty but it does feel like we got sold the base game with all the boring missions and they expect it to be filled out with dlc for the next 6 months.


I never thought a bungie game would be like that but nobody is immune to the Activision greed and influence i suppose.

I feel like bungie sold out with this game and the old bungie is dead and gone.

I'll have to seriously think about any expansions for this game and I'm absolutely not giving them any money in advance for them.

Seems like rares start rolling in more at 15+. Feels good to start getting some decent loot, found a nice scout rifle (which I really like in PvE but suck with pretty bad in PvP):

Finally unlocked Defender and it is pretty bad ass. Ward of Dawn lasts a long ass time (like ~15-20 seconds) and nothing except bodies can get through it. Disintegrate's Force Barrier also lasts 15 seconds and actually adds quite a lot of shield even before passives. Can't wait until I unlock the modifications for these.
