I guess people who are disappointed didn't play the demo/beta? It was a good representation of what to expect. It made me not buy the game actually.

In my line of work sir is a sign of respect. Just because I think you are harping on hollow arguments (the game is bigger than any of their Halo games. Calling it a shell is disingenuous) does not mean I do not respect you. Trying to talk about nickel and diming us on content through DLC, which they are doing better than most of their contemporaries is also not constructive in any way (unless your argument is that games shouldn't have DLC at all, which I would again respectfully disagree). You say sounds short which means you are also not even speaking out of understanding of the content, but lack of experience. Sir^^

Your moral superiority is quite tiresome. That combined with your screen name imply that you must be the life of the party.

The use of Sir in informal communication is not a sign of respect. Telling someone "Good Day Sir" is a polite way of telling them to F off. If you don't understand this, you severely lack social skills.

You have spent your time in this thread attacking everyone whom isn't enjoying the game and then attempting to put them down when they don't agree with you.

So what is the major difference when you switch you fireteam access to "Anyone" from "Friends Only" ?

How are people able to randomly join your Fire Team for missions?

Level 15 and I still haven't seen a public event. Weird.

Stay in an area long enough 1 will bound to happen
Get to a named location zone and camp, kill stuff, look for chests, look for mats, sooner or later, the sky will Darken a purple haze, and BAM! you are told a PTE is in play

Rocket Yard Train Tracks, leading to the Strike The Devil's Lair) in Old Russia always has the chase the Boss through 5 checkpoints
Moth Yards has the survey or protect an area

So far I've done 15+ PTE's (Public Time Events)
I was farming stuff, so you run into one always within a hour of being there
Sometime just as you get there or sometime you play the waiting game

______________________

From what I've seen, people are enjoying themselves doing stuff
The game sure could use a Patch say within 2+ weeks to address some issues that people are having
One thing I see a lot of the negativity focused on is the unknown
With most games, the reviews are out full force way before or embargoed till release day
Then you can comb through looking for info to make you purchase worthwhile
With Destiny it's more of a fluid thing, that it's almost a blind buy, the Alpha/Beta showed what the game had to offer for the first 10+ levels
(Yes we got more of the same from 10-20), but 20 wasn't the endgame part
20 is just your mid-point, it reflects that you've finished the story (hopefully) have done a few of the different modes it offers and now are set to topple the next tier

This game from my opinion is a Tier Based Game
1-10: get to know the world, taste it
11-20: learn your skills, figure out what you want your Legend to become
21-25: earn your Light, get geared by choosing the faction you want to represent, but also that fits to your play-style
25-28: Legendary yourself out, be that Purple People Eater in all slots
28+: Raid that weekly challenge, earn the Exotic loot

In between all that, go Explore the areas, there stuff to do in them, search for chests, look for materials scattered away, look for those 5 Golden Chest per plant, do PTE's, Bounties, Missions, find those Dead Ghost and raise your Grimorie Score

Game has a fuck-ton of content, but it's misplaced by how they communicated to the public
Being coy and making reviewers wait so they can understand Destiny, has really made Bungie slap itself in the face
The game doesn't hand hold you by forcing you onto choices the dev thought, they gave you free will to do w/e the fuck you like right after doing a few of the missions

Destiny does surprise every time I play, sometime it's the best thing, sometimes it's pure frustration
That's the great thing, all the frustrations need to be vented, enough of a voice and dev might look into hwy it's a concern for the community

Game is 2-3 days old, so far, people on my friend's list are playing it and enjoying it
Most who are pissed put too much thought into what they wanted the game to be
No it's not Borderlands with it's zany antics, no it's not Diablo with it's Loot R' Us syndrome, it's not really PSO, it's not No Man's Sky just cause there is space and ship involved + explore, it's not Halo just cause Bungie created it, it's not WoW or SWTOR in trying to be this huge grand experience, Destiny is Destiny, it borrows features from other games, tries to mash them and see what the result is

So for the moment, game is a Solid 8
Game could with refinement, through patches and adjustments recommended by the community, can really prosper this game for a long time
The ones and done crowd will move on, Destiny is supposed to last you awhile
Great thing is the game just doesn't end here, I see it having a long lasting effect
(I wouldn't be surprised all those negative output (the unwarranted ones) some are saying, will still play here and there)

So I guess I was onto something by not being all that enthused with the beta, i just didn't see the game noticeably improving from the gameplay of the alpha/beta which wasn't all that engaging.

Eh.

Plwnty of ppl who played the beta and are disappointed in what the full game offers, and lacks.

Funny thing to me is, people do not want reviewers creating reviews based on a single day worth of experience but yet plenty of people are willing to develop their own iron set opinion based on just a day of the game releasing.

Must be tough for Bungie to see 5 years of work judged in a day. Especially when we still got 5 days to go before Raids even unlock and we still haven't seen locked content open up like Iron Banner or any PvE events.

I'm excited to see what Bungie themselves have in store for opening content in the world for people to enjoy outside of the main story / strikes.

The main thing I noticed yesterday was the massive decrease in Public Events appearing. I spent a lot of time in Explore on Earth and only ran into 1 of those events.

I played it. I remember one gaffer saying to me that they were probably holding back some of the best bits for the final game...

Yeah.

I enjoyed the beta but I have held off buying the game until I get to hear what others including the media have to say. I know Bungie put a lot of marketing power behind this and if the reviews aren't there it says a lot about the game.

The repetitive nature of the missions and the vapid story seem pretty much inline with the beta. I think people were hoping that chunk of the game was a smaller piece of the pie than it ended up being.

As someone who just started getting into loot based games I really enjoyed diablo 3. I heard Jeff. G. say the extremely limited scope of the weapon modifiers makes the loot less important. That is really sad to hear.

Seems like the elevator pitch didn't match the implementation.

Reads like a blurb, but I can't disagree.

I asked earlier.. if you find out let me know, everyone is busy bitching about opinions apparently.

items you get like spinmetal, gun parts, sheet metal and such are mostly used for high level weapon upgrades, like to unlock the next tier of armor for my blue helmet I need a few parts as well as glimmer.

Or you can trade some of the parts to npc's for vanguard points and such.

Im so split on this game. Im having fun, but it pales in comparison to what it could be. They spent so many years developing amazing gameplay, controls and graphics only to put all of that in a mediocore game.

So much wasted potential here.

Fuck - still no Inner Chamber. I want to enjoy this game, but it's really bothering me that I am not getting the unique emblem for being a Bungie veteran. One of the reasons I bought this game was because I owned every Bungie game prior.

Just to be sure that I understand correctly. Are The Darkness, The Fallen and the hive thing ennemies part of the same group of ennemies against The Traveller? It's really not clear...

Gaf is the only place I've seen where people have come to voice reasonable dissent. But go anywhere else, and it's another damn story. Why do some people hate this game? It's not even that they dislike it, but they are actively and aggressive dismissing it on an emotional level. I don't really understand why that is happening, if you don't like them game, alright. but people are making sure other people don't like the game and that no one likes it. again, that's largely outside of gaf. This is like bioshock Inifinite levels of backlash.

Do you think that maybe it is a reaction beyond simply Destiny itself?

Perhaps it is that they've reached their limit as far as ridiculous pay, and pay, and pay some more models go, and are lashing out at this, the next hyped savior of gaming, because their dissatifaction cannot be contained anymore, and, while Destiny is merely the latest villain in this sordid play, it is the villain of the moment, and thus the target of the now? Maybe they are not even aware of why they're raging. Maybe they aren't trolls. Maybe they're just plain pissed off.

To the people who are saying you see mostly negative impressions here because people who're enjoying it are busy playing instead of posting...

..You guys are absolutely right. I just jumped in to see if anyone has locations of all golden chests. Heading back out to my fireteam.

Something has to counteract the $738594772885958573 being spent to license Led Zepplin I guess.

So I played with a friend last night, but naturally we have different schedules and we wont be able to beat the game together and progress through the whole story with coop.

My question is... let's say one of us is level 10 and further into the story, and one of us is level 5 and not as far in the story. What happens when we team up in a fireteam?

Does one of us get scaled down? Can we still complete missions that the other hasn't beaten yet?

I'm only lv four, UPS was late dropping the game off.

One thing still bugs me though: why does the in game model look nothing like what you create at the start?

I mean, the character I created had a certain beauty, was really quite striking. But in game, they look very rough, with all kinds of missing detail. Even in the cutscenes this is true. The body textures and models look the same, but the face and hair is of a much lower quality.

So what is the major difference when you switch you fireteam access to "Anyone" from "Friends Only" ?

How are people able to randomly join your Fire Team for missions?

If your fireteam is set to anyone/open I can meet you in the field, select you with R3 and choose "join fireteam" and we are then in a fireteam.

I can then call you a faggot and proceed to insult your mom.

If people are dismissing it emotionally it's probably in response to people supporting it emotionally.

Did anyone cringe when you heard "I don't have time to explain why I don't even have time to explain"?

This story is all over the place and some of the dialog is just weird.

Are you new to the concept of people hating the next huge popular thing? It happens everywhere and with everything.

So... Can we expect to see some reviews in a few days? Or do we have to wait for a week (ugh...) or something. So divisive opinions, I need to see some professional reviews. My pre-order copy is still unopened. I've read through the whole read and don't know what to think. Shitty/non-existent story? Repetitive campaign? I don't have any friends to play with and I just found out you can't voice chat with randoms, not to mention other issues.

Not heard that yet I think.

I have to laugh everytime though when Dinklage says ''IT'S IN THE WALLS''
I've played the intro too many times I guess.

Mysterious Exo watching over you, calls for help, tells you what you already know, trying to make her sound like a bad ass but it doesn't work, a lot of cliche things about the story so far.

I don't think I've even seen many people actively hating the game. There is a lot of disappointment in this thread but not that much hate.

Yeah I guess so. Played the beta with other two friends, we were going to get the game (well, them, I was unsure about getting the game long before the beta) but after playing it we changed our mind.

Im enjoying it. Lvl 11. At work now so cant play.

But its goddamn obvious this game could have been 10x bbeter with some slight tweaks.

Oh well Bungie doesnt listen to its community (anymore)..

It's alright man I wasn't jumping on ya, no judgement here. I have a couple niggles with it too.

I was just curious as to why you were feeling that way since I haven't played or talked with you in a couple weeks. See you online soon xD

wtf

why are you waiting for reviews to open and play a game you bought?

There is a mission where there is a big entrance off in the distance. From a hill I took out a bunch of enemies near that entrance in preparation to run past about 30 enemies behind. That was cool.
