Stay in an area long enough 1 will bound to happen
Get to a named location zone and camp, kill stuff, look for chests, look for mats, sooner or later, the sky will Darken a purple haze, and BAM! you are told a PTE is in play

Rocket Yard Train Tracks, leading to the Strike The Devil's Lair) in Old Russia always has the chase the Boss through 5 checkpoints
Moth Yards has the survey or protect an area

So far I've done 15+ PTE's (Public Time Events)
I was farming stuff, so you run into one always within a hour of being there
Sometime just as you get there or sometime you play the waiting game

______________________

From what I've seen, people are enjoying themselves doing stuff
The game sure could use a Patch say within 2+ weeks to address some issues that people are having
One thing I see a lot of the negativity focused on is the unknown
With most games, the reviews are out full force way before or embargoed till release day
Then you can comb through looking for info to make you purchase worthwhile
With Destiny it's more of a fluid thing, that it's almost a blind buy, the Alpha/Beta showed what the game had to offer for the first 10+ levels
(Yes we got more of the same from 10-20), but 20 wasn't the endgame part
20 is just your mid-point, it reflects that you've finished the story (hopefully) have done a few of the different modes it offers and now are set to topple the next tier

This game from my opinion is a Tier Based Game
1-10: get to know the world, taste it
11-20: learn your skills, figure out what you want your Legend to become
21-25: earn your Light, get geared by choosing the faction you want to represent, but also that fits to your play-style
25-28: Legendary yourself out, be that Purple People Eater in all slots
28+: Raid that weekly challenge, earn the Exotic loot

In between all that, go Explore the areas, there stuff to do in them, search for chests, look for materials scattered away, look for those 5 Golden Chest per plant, do PTE's, Bounties, Missions, find those Dead Ghost and raise your Grimorie Score

Game has a fuck-ton of content, but it's misplaced by how they communicated to the public
Being coy and making reviewers wait so they can understand Destiny, has really made Bungie slap itself in the face
The game doesn't hand hold you by forcing you onto choices the dev thought, they gave you free will to do w/e the fuck you like right after doing a few of the missions

Destiny does surprise every time I play, sometime it's the best thing, sometimes it's pure frustration
That's the great thing, all the frustrations need to be vented, enough of a voice and dev might look into hwy it's a concern for the community

Game is 2-3 days old, so far, people on my friend's list are playing it and enjoying it
Most who are pissed put too much thought into what they wanted the game to be
No it's not Borderlands with it's zany antics, no it's not Diablo with it's Loot R' Us syndrome, it's not really PSO, it's not No Man's Sky just cause there is space and ship involved + explore, it's not Halo just cause Bungie created it, it's not WoW or SWTOR in trying to be this huge grand experience, Destiny is Destiny, it borrows features from other games, tries to mash them and see what the result is

So for the moment, game is a Solid 8
Game could with refinement, through patches and adjustments recommended by the community, can really prosper this game for a long time
The ones and done crowd will move on, Destiny is supposed to last you awhile
Great thing is the game just doesn't end here, I see it having a long lasting effect
(I wouldn't be surprised all those negative output (the unwarranted ones) some are saying, will still play here and there)

This is a great post.

So... Can we expect to see some reviews in a few days? Or do we have to wait for a week (ugh...) or something. So divisive opinions, I need to see some professional reviews. My pre-order copy is still unopened. I've read through the whole read and don't know what to think. Shitty/non-existent story? Repetitive campaign? I don't have any friends to play with and I just found out you can't voice chat with randoms, not to mention other issues.

If you dont have any friends and/or wont play with people from GAF regularly, return it.

Destiny is a game meant to be played with a fire team 90% of the time, I'm having a blast playing with my friends.

I don't think I've even seen many people actively hating the game. There is a lot of disappointment in this thread but not that much hate.

Semantics. Replace the word "hate" with "dislike" or "disappointed" and there ya go.

Meanwhile none of my friends are disappointed. That sure doesn't fit the going rate in this thread. I had 30 of them on yesterday, playing Destiny and not a one expressed negativity.

Play video games. Have fun.

Where are all the level-headed people today? This thread was much better yesterday...

Well it's 8AM East Coast...

Most are heading to work, are at work, or Destiny binged so hard, now sleeping it off
The thread will sway back and forth

There are good claims people do bring up, like the story mission all playing the same
Nothing differentiating them
Not enough communication from the developer after launch of posting a fuck ton of info online, for the masses to digest
Also this thread will run in circles, most people who post, don't read up on the last few pages, so most questions are repeated

I posted on how to Glimmer farm, even streamed it, then someone asks how?, then I post a youtube link, 3 posts later, someone asks how do I glitter farm?
Then a few pages later, someone ask what is best way to glimmer farm?
Repost youtube video, then you get the why would you farm?
I await maybe 3 pages, someone will ask again

This thread isn't moving at the crazy speed before launch, but yeah, a lot of the posts get repeated way too quickly, a little bit of reading maybe a few pages back and catching may have your answer

Fuck - still no Inner Chamber. I want to enjoy this game, but it's really bothering me that I am not getting the unique emblem for being a Bungie veteran. One of the reasons I bought this game was because I owned every Bungie game prior.

It may be of little consolation to you but this is my first ever Bungie game and I have the Inner Circle emblem. I've only played Combat evolved on xbox before and nothing until the Destiny alpha and It was still there waiting for me when I first booted up the game.

Maybe they gave me your emblem by mistake.

Okay yeah, Venus is getting better and better. I wish this was here instead of Moon so I had no time to complain.

I forgot which mission it was, but there was this one level where the music was sooooooooooooo damn nice. Got me hyped up during that level. Venus was pretty good.

How much does you level impact your ability in PVP?

I keep doing terribly and matched with levels 10 and 11 when I am a level 8. Do the level's 10 and 11 have an advantage?

I just hit 20 as well. I love shaders.

Differentiating Hate and Disappointment is hardly semantics.

I had 30 friends playing Destiny as well, most of them didn't say anything.

Inner circle is for the LE and inner chamber is the Bungie one.

The last mission there before the Northern-most Strike ended in a pretty intense boss fight solo, and had great music the whole way. Really liked that mission.

Random thoughts

I need to learn where all this crafting stuff/loot is harvested every time I try to farm even spinmetal I leave earth with maybe 2 plants.

I wish you could send a quick tell too see if people are interested in doing (fill in current interest here), every time I go to invite someone I pause and say well they are doing this other thing and therefore likely not interested. :/

I think hand cannon has become my favorite weapon

Grimoire stuff should be accessible in game going to pc to read what you just found seems so unnatural.

Roster really really really needs a clan page pretty please Bunige.

It impacts it a lot, the multiplayer is severely unbalanced.

Thanks - I thought as much.

As with any PVP in an MMO, then obviously, the point is you rank up your character. It doesn't bother me too much, I know I will get better, I just hope the matchmaking was better (surely there are enough players to match me with).

Level/attack/defense don't do a thing in pvp outside iron banner

Abilities from spec and weapons/armor do however

So yes, in that respect, a high level player with maxed gear/spec is going to have an advantage over you

Not much of one if they're shitty fps players though

So I played with a friend last night, but naturally we have different schedules and we wont be able to beat the game together and progress through the whole story with coop.

My question is... let's say one of us is level 10 and further into the story, and one of us is level 5 and not as far in the story. What happens when we team up in a fireteam?

Does one of us get scaled down? Can we still complete missions that the other hasn't beaten yet?

Yup to all your questions. If you join the lower level's fireteam, you aren't scaled but you still get rewards and drops at your level. If they pick hard mode, it's different. Your weapons are scaled down and even the first mission on Earth can get hectic.

I'm going to try and get a low level friend to do a high level mission/strike with me to see if his weapons and armor scales up. If it does happen, I think Bungie may be on to something.

I'm having trouble deciding on a class.

I have
Titan 11
Hunter 5
Warlock 5

I'm a little disappointed with the Titan.
The hulk smash super is pretty legit against a horde of regular enemy types, but useless against the giant damage sponges that can just one hit bitch slap you when you finish it.
Defender seems like it will be cool if I have the patience to make it that far. And since it's obviously geared more toward teamwork, it's gonna suck because I don't really have people I play with regularly yet.

I like the hunters double jump ability, but my god is gunslinger by far the most uninteresting super. The Titan can come flying from the air and hulk smash the earth and the warlock has a giant dragonballz blast and all the hunter gets is a golden pistol? I don't really want to knock it until I try it, but I'm not a fan of rogue types, so I doubt it like blade dancer if I ever made it that far.

Warlock is interesting. I love the super as it actually seems viable against regular baddies and damage sponges, but the lack of a real jump ability is a nuisance. If someone finds a real use for a lateral glide, let me know.

I love destiny and it's fun as hell, just none of the classes seem to click for me. Anyone else have this problem?

The last mission there before the Northern-most Strike ended in a pretty intense boss fight solo, and had great music the whole way. Really liked that mission.

I think this is the one I just beat. The guy died in two rockets to the face. It's a shame because the music and location were awesome.

Tried to do the glimmer chest loop farming from YouTube in the Rocketyard. Didn't find one chest in 30 min. Vids are from beta but some here said they still work. Not sure what's going on, I am doing it from the Cosmodrome Patrol level. Anyone having luck with it? At least the purple eyes things drop engrams in the area.

Hey guys, so like others, my Ghost Edition arrived damaged from Amazon and I would like to file a complaint of sorts with them. I did not return owing to the rarity of the item and eagerness to start playing the game.

What's the best way to get in touch with them and what tips do you have for dealing with the CSR? It used to be easy to pull up a chat window or send in an email, but I can't find any of that in the site anymore.

Why do people disliking this game instantly make them trolls?

I mean, if this were a game priced by subscription we could simply choose to not pay anymore, but paying a full price for a game then finding out it isn't what it was hyped up to be is valid.

I have seen many times the "what did you guys expect" comment. Don't give me that shit, Destiny was supposed to CHANGE THINGs.

For more I can be rather unpleased, but still enjoy this game. I mean, it feels like Halo, it ain't great but it can't suck the second it feels like Halo.

I completely disagree with this argument. The Alpha and Beta were easily accessible. If you didn't play either you could still watch streams on Twitch and Youtube. Bungie did plenty of interviews, magazines did covers, websites did features. They were very forthcoming with information on the game. Everyone should have had a good idea of what to expect... the information was readily available.

Honestly wonder if they'll do content outside just the exapnsions

They did say at one point they would like to come up with quick little updates they can throw into the game.
Also one dev said something about "weekly things to make people's gameplay fun" but I think he just meant like different weekly nightfall strikes each week.

Did you not play the beta? even when it went free for all?

Ugh. I want to play the game but my friends have so little time and I don't want to level without them. Really wish PvP didn't reward with XP.

You do realize you can create up to 3 character right?

Save your main for your friends, create an alt.
Do the tutorial, first few missions, unlock PvP, enjoy Crucible on alt.

I mean they give you 3 character spots, 3 classes....

Waste time doing PvP, friends ready, swap to other char, enjoy game with them

Yeah, you'd think they'd match you with players of the same level as you, especially when your level directly impacts the balance of a multiplayer match.

Everyone says not to play it alone, but I'm having a good time just soloing it. Of course, if this were a straight up MMO, I'd be doing the same. Or attempting to.

Though the game has some definite issues with repetitive mission design, and I cannot stand the PVP, the gunplay is so good I can forgive a few shortcomings and enjoy it for what it is. Besides, this is what we played in the alpha and beta. Why are people so shocked that the final game is pretty much an extension of those?

played until 2AM this morning-

yup fun as alpha and betas were-

legendary/rare drops are so, so satisfying- new enemies/locales are great too-

remote play for lunch:CONFIRMED

Your moral superiority is quite tiresome. That combined with your screen name imply that you must be the life of the party.

The use of Sir in informal communication is not a sign of respect. Telling someone "Good Day Sir" is a polite way of telling them to F off. If you don't understand this, you severely lack social skills.

You have spent your time in this thread attacking everyone whom isn't enjoying the game and then attempting to put them down when they don't agree with you.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe in my country that is not the case. And I do not have much time for parties to be the life of. And if you check my history you will see I have far more posts doing to opposite. Just because we had a spat before does not mean that I have had the same response or discourse. And I take great offense to the idea that I ever told anyone to
F off
. Never have I done this here and I do not plan to ever do so. If you have a personal issue with me please PM me or block me, but please do not accuse me of blatant profanity in public. I will not call you sir as your have expressed you dislike for said term, so I will simply say thank you and goodbye.

This is the most fun I've had playing with friends online in a long time. Game is fucking awesome. It could use some work around the edges but damn its fun.

Aside from the shitty story (so far) I'm really enjoying the game. Level 9 doing story missions on the Moon...

Game looks fantastic on PS4 - the lighting in general is incredible... the skyboxes and different stages of day (depending on story mission) look amazing. Enemy/weapon models look so good! I have one complaint on how some of the character models end up looking... weird in town. My first two attempts my character looked like some sort of monstrosity under the weird shadows in town... my main one right now she looks like she has a manjaw under certain lighting conditions but otherwise ok.
