Dumb question I asked earlier that I did not see answered, but where/how do you change mission difficulty? I didn't even know that was a thing, I see some listed as normal and some as Hard and thought that was just a built-in indicator of that particular mission, not something I could change.

I feel like, if I was the one in charge of Destiny's story, I would've made a
singleplayer campaign.
It'd be easier to be linear in terms of story rather than multiplayer story writing, not that I have experience with either, but it just feels that way.

I am a level 5 but only have level 7 missions and higher available and got my ass kicked, got frustrated and turned the game off. Any advice?

The game was fun at first, I had a random level 11 helping me but once he left I got to level 5 he left and then I got destroyed

Go play some PvP. There are good loot drops in PvP that will help you get your attack (ie guns) up to par so you can take on the higher level stuff. Also, grind through the patrol a little bit to level up as well. That will help.

Let's see them day 2 guardians! I fuckin binged out on this game yesterday and leveled my dude to 14 lol.

My lvl 14 warlock! I can't wait to start getting more rare (blue) items.

After selecting a mission, theres a box that says "Normal" at the bottom of the screen. Click it and change it to hard.

1. You can skip story party and level up by grinding through the patrols I guess.

2. Yes, you need to get people to join your fireteam. 3 person max.

3. lvl 5.

What are patrol missions? I need to level up, I am 2 levels behind the next story mission and I am getting destroyed. Are they on the planet map or do I find them exploring?

Do you level up the same way in MP by doing team deathmatch or something or is that separate?

Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction of how the crucible works in regards to armor and levels? Does my weapon strength and armor strength make a difference, or does each type of weapon just have a set amount of damage it does.

This is very frustrating that it's not clearly spelled out.

Ok, thanks. I never noticed last night, I'll be sure to check it out when I get home from work.

Thank you, I just made another post before I saw this. Glad to hear I can rank up in PvP, what are the Patrol missions and where do I find them?

When you highlight the gametypes, it tells you if levels are disabled or not.

Your levels are disabled and you no longer do high levels of damage. However your perks on your gear and characters are still active.

This should be in the new OT too.

Patrolling just means exploring. Go explore Russia and do the missions that pop up there. They will be these blinking green lights that you'll see. They give you some XP.

Yes, PvP will level you up in the same way, it all adds to the same number. Also, you'll get some good loot there so that will help too.

The only thing about Destiny that really grinds my gears is how facing off against mobs that are two to three levels above you doesn't give you XP bonuses for taking them down.

So the actual strength of my weapon matters? So if I'm up against a dude with an auto rifle that does 100 damage let's say, and mine is 60, is that how it works?

You should see them once you hit 17 lol

This will become available:

The more you level up, the more Strikes open up

I'm 18, so Vanguard Eagle is Normal for me, while vanguard viper is considered Hard due to me being 2 levels below the requirement
very cool.
3v3 with respawn only by teammates activating your ghost.

Preferably Fireteam only imo. Ridiculous fun. Exp bonus too.
also very cool.

Not in the Crucible, at least, no.

Game isn't designed so you can just playthrough the story missions linearly. Do some exploration, patrol missions, pvp, or some older missions on hard. Bounties are also great for Exp. Mix it up then go back to the campaign.

I've been trying to do the first strike for about an hour now. My first game I had more than double the kills of the other players and I had to revive each of them about 10 times. My second go around was a little better, but the result was the same with both tries. Someone ends up leaving after the first wipe and the two remaining are unable to handle it.

No, except in the Iron Banner where levels do come into play.

All guns do base damage unless level advantage is enabled.

A level 6 shotgun is going to do the same damage as a level 16 shotgun, but the level 16 one may have faster reloading or do fire damage or something.

Not in the Crucible, at least, no.

So is that the same for armor? All weapons and armor just have a base stat as if it were like a Halo game?

Ok, cool got it. Thank you. Where are you guys finding this information?

That mission with the sword on the moon.. Destiny needs more of that missions variety. Changing it up like that looked so promising but then it just goes back to press square story missions. I thought it was about to get better but nooooo.

Ah well maybe the next iteration aye!

I would love to do the heroic strikes with a fire team, but there's no matchmaking for it. Anyone else at level 20 ready to do these?

PSN: TheTylerDurden (on PS4)

(add a note that you're maxxed :) )

DestinyGAF!

I'm at home feeling ill and gonna log on in an hour or so for some escapism and blasting. Really really early on though (lvl 4.5) but much rather play with some GAFfers than randoms.

PSN is sploatee. You may call me Sploat.

Just did the Devil's Lair Strike and it was so much fun. I really need to get more friends on PSN and join in more online. I'm speaking into my mic and on the menus the little speaker indicates I'm making noise, but I haven't heard anyone talk back yet. Anything I need to switch on?

One thing I haven't seen anyone discuss:

Is there a real reason to pick a rocket launcher over a machine gun? Machine guns in pvp wreck with so few bullets loaded. I can see cases made for PvE, but even then, as a Warlock or Titan I can't buy it.

Man, I dunno. Played the first thirty minutes and I really don't like the shooting. Reminds me of Bioshock in the way that it doesn't provide ample enough feedback to make kills seem rewarding. Really doesn't feel like Bungie at all.

I'm so torn between getting this or Diablo 3 for ps4. I enjoyed the beta, but got bored of it towards the end and didn't play it for the last few days it was available From what I have been reading and seeing in videos it doesn't look like it offers much more than the beta in terms of experience, just the same shit but different surroundings, repeated for 10-15 hours. Add to that I don't have any friends who own current gen consoles. It seems Bungie have failed to tailor this game to players like me (predominantly solo). I really wanted a game I could sink my teeth into and soak up a hundred or so hours of my spare time, I just can't see how pretty backdrops and okay gunplay will hold my attention for that long.

For those that have played both this and Diablo 3, which one would be more suited? I keep hearing how Diablo 3 was a mess at launch, has this since been fixed, and does it offer a richer experience to a lonely gamer than Destiny?

I haven't played destiny apart from beta but I have sane concerns with it as you.

However I ha e played 90-100hours of diablo 3 on PC and already 50ish at a guess on ps4 and I play almost always solo (never played online on ps4 version). Its great fun single player and you still have access to everything but it just might take longer to do.

Biggest turn off for destiny to me is that I rary play anything online with friends these days due to when I play and the like so not being able to do a bunch of the end game content is a bit no no for me. But with diablo 3 I can just solo everything if I want to. So I would recommend diablo for your needs.

Great, thanks for the help, its going to be a long day at work, looking forward to getting home and playing now.
