Got remote play going today, so I'll be putting the office wifi through its paces to see if I can hop around in the Tower at least.

Made it to level 9 last night, was kinda surprised that not much has changed from a leveling speed standpoint. I also haven't left Earth yet, just been indulging in what the Beta basically was. My Warlock's gear is so sad though, haven't managed to snag any noteworthy Scout Rifles yet. Think I may do the strike a couple of times tonight. I'll post on here when I do to see if anyone would like to join me.

definitely do the strike missions, that's when i started getting better gear. the higher level ones give you rares.

I still have no idea gow levelling up is done. Do I always just unlock what ever is new or do I have only a certain amount of skills that I can unlock?

Precisely. Though, with all the things Destiny does to streamline co-op and what it makes needlessly annoying (leveling up a separate subclass), I can't say there's no more to it.

At least it gives people a reason to keep running Strikes more than once.

Had too, was going full disc/int so every time something new with more armor and both came on, boom new gear.

Right, so pretty much like most early loot games? Just popping stuff on since it will clearly be an upgrade for you for the first few levels.

imo this is definitely intact, even just getting into the outset of decent drops at level 11.

Do they have a noise for higher loot or just by the color of the drop?

So according to the trophies rarity. Hunters are the most popular and titans are least.

Matches with my experience. Got Hunter Killer super fast and then later got Witch Hunt. Probably no where near for Giant Slayer lol.

Quick question: Are there any ghost skins in game or is it only from the Limited Edition/Ghost Edition or something?

So after spending some time with bladedancer. The super ability just isn't near as good as the Golden gun.

With the golden gun you can just sit back and one hit enemies from a distance. With the blades you have to run in and risk your life, It's really easy to die by a shotgun or something when your mid attack, it's already happened to me a couple of times.

Same applies for the PvE. Some bosses you cant get close to because of the amount of damage they'll inflict from one punch/smash.

The Golden Gun also has the added bonus of easily taking out vehicles. IMO in order to match the effectiveness of the golden gun they need to add some kind of armor bonus while Arc Blade is active.

With all that being said. Still using bladedancer 90% of the time. It's just so fucking cool.

I beat the game, and I'm seriously disappointed. I love Bungie, but I don't feel Destiny does anything noteworthy for the FPS genre. Perhaps I'm even more disappointed because Bungie has toted Destiny as the next 'Halo'; a game-changer.

Halo already happened. There will never be another 'Halo'.

I find it sad to hear how Destiny was originally conceived as a high fantasy open-world RPG. Bungie has already made their mark on shooters. Destiny feels like a huge case of playing it safe, which isn't what I've come to expect from Bungie. Fundamentally, the game is good. Polished, pretty, the gunplay is what you've come to expect from the studio behind Halo. But nothing more. Forgettable.

Now, marvel at what could have been, had Bungie stuck with the high fantasy genre:

We could have had something really special here, an open-world RPG with Bungie's world design and a new kind of action gameplay.

Hummm...old post but...I fully agree.

That said it was not the Game to be and that 500M/day1 means Bungie keeps making games.

In beta I was able to find some pretty awesome stuff out in the world, but it makes sense that group play is where you want to go for the good stuff. I enjoy the strike on earth so it should be fun to farm a bit.

Guys, it's happening. :D

I finally started on that story I said I'd write. Though I only have one paragraph so far (I work slowly), it seems well enough.

Thought I'd post the paragraph here just to gauge some initial impressions, though here might not be the best place, nor are you guys moving slow enough to get anything out of this.

If this isn't the right place, I won't post any other parts.

But, in the interest of time, here it is:

>The stars were mocking her. Sarah couldn’t shake that feeling, no matter how hard she tried. They were cold, and hollow, silently judging her like they were sentries for an unknown force far beyond the maximum range of her auto rifle. Like the thousand eyes of God, she thought. She shifted slightly in the grass, burrowing herself underneath the tall weeds, gripping her Angel’s Bane a bit closer to the chest, her finger resting on the trigger guard. I hate being out this late. Makes me all philosophical.

On the roster, on the Fireteam list to the left you have an icon instead of arrows. That icon lets you change the privacy. If it's there anyway, which I'm assuming it is.

I'll try to help you out, (though have it on ps4) go to your character load out screen, hit l1 to move menus to the left, your fireteam should be defaulted to friends, click on that and change your settings

Go to roster, and all the way on the left of that screen you should see your name, and above it Fire Team and what looks like two silhouttes of people. Click on that and you can edit your privacy to Public, Friends, Invite, or Closed.

This is what I see on my roster side of the menu.

That little box with people is just for snapping the party app on xbox one. And no, setting the part app to invite only doesnt affect your fireteam I already tried it.

So, Bungie saying they wanted to delay reviews so that reviewers could play the full, player-populated experience actually meant they wanted to delay reviews so that people would buy Destiny before the reviewers skewered it over the fact that it has no real story, right?

probably a little bit of both TBH.

Not to sound like I'm on the destiny defense force, but I can kind of see where Bungie is coming from. However, I don't think it has to do with story at all.

For anyone who doesn't know, not sure if its been talked about, but I figured out something with the Sword of Crota that applies to the second Hunter super charge ability. If you jump and use rb (not sure what rb is for the ps4), you can side dash in the air pretty fast. Great for getting away from something or closing the distance with an enemy real fast.

I'll be on tonight if you'd like to team up. Gt: Draughn

Lvl 8, Just beat the 2nd story mission on the moon

Cool, we're around the same place then. I'll add ya.

Gotta check that destinygaf thread too, but doing these missions w two people will be at least a little more fun. Lol

Seems unlikely. Overall the game is one of the best I've ever played.

Currently level 10, so should I save my encoded engrams until lvl 20 or should I use em now?

So there is no built in clan system like Halo 2... you have to do all that at the website!?

Also what is the fastest way to level to lvl 20?

Probably Strikes. And always have active bounties, since you can complete them while progressing in a strike/patrol/story mission and they grant a good amount of XP.

Why is this? Do the engrams give you higher level stuff if you wait until you're a higher level to decrypt them?

They scale to the level you are when you decrypt them, but the odds of getting a rare or better will still be slim. I've gotten common stuff from level 14 engrams :(

We should probably experiment with engrams. We have no idea of engrams roll depending on level and if level 20s can get legendaries from engrams earned at level 1.

Am I the only one who thinks it's insanely stupid that we can't see the grimoire shit in game?

I wish they didn't add the lifebars in the competitive multi. Too distracting

Wow, didn't even notice this. I was wondering what seemed weird about the pvp. I end up focusing too much on the health bar.

has that been confirmed anywhere? I got some shit items that were lower level when I did devil's lair last night at 14.

From what the Giantbomb guys were saying the world being populated has zero impact on the game.

I'm sure they could use it at a semi legit argument but I believe that some of of the delay was to prevent the reviews from having and impact on sales.

Been a hectic day with work. But I'm working from home. And I have 45 minutes before my next conference call. I guess I'll dive in for a quick story mission or crucible. So addicted!

Considering I and others who enjoyed the beta wouldn't have bought the game if all the people on twitter about 15ish hour "story" I can't help but think he's right.

Yeah the game is fun but ever aspect besides the art and combat seems half assed at best.

Bigger than any halo game? Please this feels hilariously tiny almost cod campaign levels of tiny except with a bunch of repeating the same areas.

I'm gonna play a bunch because the combat is good and I'll feel guilty if I ditch my friend who bought it to play together.

If it wasn't for that I'd be selling this disc on amazon in a week or if I was smart I would have just gameflyd this thing for a week since its so lacking in content.

You're not alone, no. Having the Grimoire outside of the game only turns it from a lore resource into an unlockable wiki.

And I like the healthbar. Much prefer it to read crap getting smeared all over the screen (though they do that too).

I'd definitely say that it's better than any halo campaign. It's certainly longer by my approximation, and more varied in locale.

So... I decided to solo the Ishtar Collective mission on Venus on Hard. The recommended level was 15, and I was also level 15 at the time and I enjoy a challenge.

What in the shit. Fuck that mission. The struggle was so real I felt like I wasn't even playing the same game.
FUCK THE VEX WHY WON'T THEY DIE FROM HEADSHOTS AND HOW DO THE HEADSHOTS ACTUALLY MAKE THEM STRONGER. WAT

I've saved some engrams I picked up at a lower level and decrypted them 2-3 levels later. The items I got were never at a lower level than I was at the time of decryption, and some ended up being 2-3 levels higher than my current level. You can get common (white) items, but I was lucky to get some rares (blue) as well.
