The Trial of Jean Grey was a really cool storyline with lovely art throughout. I had heard it was good and I am glad it lived up to my expectations.

That last panel though... It was like

That last panel was great. I dropped the Bendis X-Books but I am thinking of catching up since they seem to be the best of a bad lot at the moment.

I liked the Guardians Disassembled arc after this as well, although a lot of that had to do with Nick Bradshaw on art, I really dig his stuff.

I loved it

This is kinda messed up, Marvel.

Basically, they don't invite Kelly Sue DeConnick to Marvel writer's retreats, and Tom Breevort's excuse is that she's not a Marvel exclusive writer. Yet Kieron Gillen and Charles Soule (how does he have time for all the shit he does?!) were both at the last one despite not being Marvel-exclusive writers. Soule is now, but he wasn't then.

Nice double-standard there, Marvel.

That's lame. I love her work and she deserves more recognition, especially from inside Marvel. She's writing the book that could become their next huge franchise.

Fraction there lookin like "...I'm leaving this company"

tom brevoort always comes across as a douchebag.

Pretty much.

Honestly, it would be easier for Marvel to say that her books aren't that important (and they're not, they might be good but they're not "important" which is why they don't sell) than make a ham-fisted attempt to cover it up. And I say that as a fan of the new run of Captain Marvel (I couldn't get into the old one because the art was dreadful and I'll accept most artists).

Didn't she say at a con in the last few months that she didn't realise you could opt out of event tie-ins and she was happy about this? I doubt that made her popular with the higher-ups even though a lot of fans, including everyone here, hate when a book arbitrarily ties in to an event. Marvel be out of touch, like.

It's politics. Personally, as a person who gives Marvel money, I fucking hate tie-ins. Mostly because the vast majority of events that these books tie into are fucking shite to begin with.

They should just make from the Mainseries seperated Tie-Ins in One Shots.
Depends on the Event, you cant do this with something big scale like Civil War, but it worked very well with Age of Ultron, Inhumanity or Siege.

Also, it would generate more money, because People who buy the mainline books are very likely going to buy the one shot.

Those Siege one-shots were so good, especially the Spider-Man and Loki ones.

I'm so glad to have more Stumptown! Dex and Ansel are great together, and I enjoyed the reintroduction to this world.

Onto Copperhead now!

The Age of Ultron Spider-Man tie in was better than the entire book.

Doom Patrol omnibus only sold ~750 copies in its first month? Are omnibus sales usually that low?

http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/2014/2014-07.html

DnA GOTG volume 1 sold ~3750.

That are only Comicshop numbers. They are usually that low since Hardcovers they are mostly sold in bookstores and online shops.
Comicshops are living mostly from floppies.

Yeah, loved it and the Inhumanity one, too.

Gage should have written Superior Spider-Man, SpOck hast in this two Issues a better Characterdevelopment than in 30 of his own book.

You can't compare them, really. For one, Guardians just had a movie come out not long ago. Second, you're talking about a $35 book vs. a $150 book. Of course the omnibus will sell less.

I don't know that Doom Patrol has the same easy, mainstream appeal that GOTG has. Also, a lot of people may be waiting for the deluxe editions of DP.

Oh, I am not comparing against the GOTG TPB number. That was just a passing comment. I was looking at the 750 number by itself. I hadn't realised omnibus sales numbers were usually that low.

Yeah, but you realize that even if DC sells those omnibuses to retailers at $70 each or something like that, that's still over $50k just for material that they've had sitting in their archives.

I was in Dublin last week and wanted to get the GOTG collection, went to three shops, none of them had it. Seems to be sold out online in Yurop too. Ended up getting the Immortal Iron Fist, Runaways and Uncanny X-Force complete collection volume 1s instead (and some tabletop stuff and some fancy teas and coffees but you guys don't care about that). One of them had the Astonishing X-Men omni and I was REALLY tempted but I didn't want to carry it around all day.

I saw the Doom Patrol omnibus as well, that thing is crazy. I like big books (and I cannot lie), but that thing is an unwieldy behemoth. I have a reading stand for bigger books but the Doom Patrol omni would crack it in half.

Yeah, everything Space Marvel related sells currently like crazy. Even things like Infinity Vol. 2 and everything with Guardians on the Cover.

Really crazy how the movie worked out. Never expected this.

Woo! Another very successful library visit!

Daytripper is a hidden gem, man. Moon and Ba don't get enough love, but these two brothers can draw the fuck out of a book AND tell a damn good story.

Please tell me afterwards what you think about A Superman for all seasons :)

Will do!

I have that Astro City trade! I only read a little, but it was really good. The first story was fantastic.

Awesome! That's one of the ones I'm most looking forward to.

I've actually already read Daytripper, but I loved it so much that I had to pick it up from the library again. Haha. Great stuff.

I've only read Long Halloween and Family Album from those. Loved both.

I somehow still haven't read Long Halloween but have been meaning to ever since I started reading comics, so I'm really glad the library had it! Definitely looking forward to reading that one.

LOL Batgirl's Future End is great, the spoiler stuff that you heard maybe came across EXTREME and edgy as fuck, but I'm pleasantly surprised the tone actually pretty light.. its stupid in comic way, and dat last panel.. dawwwwww

Oh snap. I was kind of down about the (non) state of the Legion in New 52. I'm gonna have to catch up on Justice League United.

Yeah I'm super excited for this Jeff Lemire Legion stuff even if it's only like 8 issues plus and Annual (2 Future's End issues this month, an Annual and then 6 Issues starting October). Lemire is a great writer and his excitement for the Legion seems genuine. It also seems to be picking up from Geoff Johns' revival of the Legion, which is a continuation of the original Legion. The fun part of this, of course, being that this essentially washes away the New 52 Legion issues onto the "Earth 2 / Other Earth" that the last issue implied and yet the Legion Lost appears to have still happened. Good ol' Legion continuity!

It's delightful to see a rather decent level of positivity for many of the Future's End issues. The whole thing was being written off by a number of people but it seems to have been pretty good in a number of showings so far.

Yeah I was waiting for DnA's Guardians omnibus volume 2 released before I brought them both together but now I'm really regretting it. Hope they keep volume 1 in print.

I can't imagine it going out of print so quickly. The entire point of releasing the Complete Collection was because the original trades and hardcovers were long OOP. The She-Hulk Complete Collections they released earlier this year are both easy to find still, so I imagine that will be the same for Guardians.

Yeah, but as you can expect there's junk.. like this Batman's issue, yuck.. don't buy it people.

Dammit. My LCS included that issue when I picked my comics up. Hopefully it's not as bad as I think it is. Also, I removed quite a bit of books from my pull list. I'm only pulling 12 now on a monthly basis.
