Come to think of it, what's some good Harley Quinn stuff?

There's Batman: Harley Quinn, which is her Dini penned intro to the regular DCU. It's pretty expensive now and I don't no if it's reprinted or put in a collection. Maybe digital?

Has anyone read Gotham Girls? It's a miniseries from the early 00's and is a cartoony Gotham City Sirens type thing. I got the first issue but had to stop buying comics after that. I was wondering if it would be worth tracking down.

They've advanced maybe 4 characters, they've just remembered about Stormwatch this past issue. It's so bland.

I won't argue that it's bland with you, that's your opinion. I will disagree still that only 4 characters have advanced.

So many characters in this book, so many moving parts that I'm kinda of amazed that we have this much stuff going on. As an example, take Superman for instance.

Shazam is connected to Superman. Louis Lane is connected to Superman. John Constantine is connected to Superman. Earth 2 war is connected to Superman.

Shazam is connected to Louis Lane. Louis Lane is connected to Shazam, Red Robin, and mystery man. Point is, these characters have all been slowly connecting with each other and filling in the puzzle pieces as we go. Supermans story has been happening since issue 0, we don't know that until the reveal last week.
Were 19 issues into a 52 book event. Of course the puzzle hasn't been filled in enough to make sense of anything. But when a puzzle piece does land, it makes some of that preceding material fascinating.

Speaking of Bruce Timm, I just put Giant Sized Kung Fu Bible Stories in my DCBS order

GIANT-SIZE KUNG FU BIBLE STORIES includes seven awe-inspiring, pulse-pounding stories from Erik Larsen, Bruce Timm, Adam Warren (Empowered), Tom Scioli (GØDLAND), Ryan Ottley (INVINCIBLE), and Andy Kuhn (FIREBREATHER), and four breathtaking pinups by Arthur Adams (Uncanny X-Men).

I would post the cover( which is amazing) but I'm on my phone.

I'm 5'8" and weigh 125 pounds, so if I can effectively implement the OORP, you can too. Although the lacking a recliner part is kind of crucial.
I'm shorter than you and I weigh less :(
Animal Man is easier to read but Doom Patrol is just a monster that dominates my lap...

I've only read a few issues of Animal Man, but I'm really liking it. Buddy's just a really charming character and it's hard to hate him. I started playing 999 last night and that's been eating away at my comic time, so I'm taking Animal Man nice and slow in the meantime.

I lay on couch or bed to read and my middle back to neck is propped up by pillows and I just rest the omnibus on my rib cage. I'm 6'3, 220 lbs though.

Totally content with all the books I picked up today. I love weeks like this where nothing leaves me disappointed. I suppose that's what I should have expected though when Velvet and Ms. Marvel release the same day.

Particularly impressed with Batgirl though. I was hesitant it was going to be another shitty tie in, but I think Gail wrapped up her Babs legacy pretty well.

Also surprised to say I'm loving Death of Wolverine. I know, I know, he's been through this ringer before, but Soule is crafting something that I've been digging the hell out of it. Issue 2 spoiler:
YAY Kitty!

Oh wow. I didn't think that was possible. Haha. Fair enough, then. :P

And glad to hear you're enjoying it! Definitely keep us updated with your thoughts as you're reading!

Guys, I am completely smitten with Grant Morrison. I have grown so much in my 2 years in this hobby. I watched his documentary twice, and over the last few days I have listened to the Nerdist podcast, and all 3 Fatman on Batmans. Next is his book! He really loves comics and it is infectious.

Really excited to see your impressions on Doom Patrol when you do eventually get it. It's so amazing.

Edge of Spider-Verse #1 was an okay start. It's more pulp than noir (obvi) and Richard Isanove's art doesn't do anything for me. It didn't make me want to read more Spidey Noir, the 1930s setting is more or less just a backdrop for a more "gritty" Spidey story but I guess it was a fine standalone. And MJ's hair was totally anachronistic, no? It looked straight-up modern.

New Warriors was good despite the fill-in art. Too bad that's getting cancelled too :(

Avengers 34.1 was much better than I thought it would be. Simple, nothing too overly complicated, and good use of Hyperion.

New 52 - Future's End 19: DC weekly dive into sadness and misery continues. Things happen, people are angry, people are sad, and there's very little in the way of "heroes" to be seen. So, it's the New 52 in concentrated form. It's getting better, but it's still not good. DC hasn't been able to recapture the magic that happened with the 52 weekly.

Avengers 34.1: In contrast, Marvel and writer Al Ewing offer up a pitch-perfect Superman story with this issue's focus on the displaced Hyperion. The strength of Superman as a character is the fact that despite all his power, there's a whole list of things he doesn't do. Those lines he won't cross are the ones that define him as a human and a hero.

This is the kind of story that works really well in a one-shot or small mini-series, but tends to fall apart in an ongoing title. There's a certain amount of compartmentalization that happens that allows us to have a pacifistic Hyperion here, while still realizing that he's probably going to be punching people in Avengers. At least within the confines of the Big Two, comic fans need fistcuffs and action: Joe Casey tried pacifist Superman and it lasted for twelve issues (Adventures of Superman #613-624) before DC rolled back the clock and got to punching.

Invincible 114: A dour end to an arc, but completely in line with Kirkman's previous work on Invincible. Robot's coup has gone off largely without a hitch and despite Mark's final, angry attempt to treat this like a normal superhero comic ends up in failure. That leave us with our new status quo:
Robot in control of the Global Defense Agency, most of the other heroes and villains dead or imprisoned, two Invincibles on deck, Mark and Eve's new child, and whatever the fallout of Mark's rape at the hands of Anissa.
So what's next? I certainly have no clue; Invincible is one of those titles that's hard to predict.

Amazing Spider-Man 06: Another end of an arc. It looks like Silk is here to stay, even though she's a much of a kludge as Carlie was. Surprisingly, Anna-Maria seems to be a more natural fit into Peter's new life, to the point that I hope she stays around. The real focus is complete complete character transformation (assassination?) of the Black Cat. I get the feeling that Slott wants to transition her into a larger role - around the same time that DC's cat-themed leather-clad thief is also becoming a crime boss, I note - but it just so at odds with everything Felicia has been until now.

The impetus for this change was Superior Spider-Man punching her and leaving her for the cops, but it just doesn't ring true as a reason for this drastic shift. Wanting to take the crime game more seriously makes sense, but outright wanting Spider-Man dead, regardless of the circumstances? It just feel forced and contrived.

Death of Wolverine 02: It's a the plot of a revenge movie, but with Wolverine and his rogues gallery. He's going to die because he's still acting like Wolverine and he doesn't have a healing factor. Nice art though.

Holy fuck.

Deadpool 34 is dark. Even with the 90s art style, that entire sequence
where Deadpool comes back home to Deadpool and Sabertooth crossing the border as the aurora borealis was in the sky
was amazing and fucked up.

I was worried that after The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, the drama would dry up, but shit, Duggan and Posehn aren't done with the tragedy yet.

Dang dude, I wish I could only pull 12 a month.

Yep, dropped it from 25 or so. There will probably be a few books that I'll grab month to month but they're not "officially" on my list. I'm trying to cut it down so I can actually catch up and read all of the trades that I have. I figured the less I read of the new stuff, the more I would pay attention to the old stuff.

Also, I don't own any omnibuses. So I haven't had to figure out a way to read them. :/

2 weeks in, 50% of the futures end tie-ins have been completely dark and the other 50% have been pretty optimistic. Between me and my friend, we've managed to cover all the issues this month and the stories have been quite surprising even though we all know this is a future which will never happen. Still, a majority of them have been good while a few have been really ridiculous (Green Lantern...
merging Hal with the source wall wth lol
)

I think it's going to be hard to top the bleakness of Infinity Man and the Forever People. That damn ending...

Spoil Forever People for me.

Spoil Forever People for me.
Moonrider wakes up screaming in a place with no memory of how he ended up there. He wants to find his team mates but only finds Dreamer (who looks older and has a sort of different outfit), who comes running to him. It's revealed that after Aagog was resurrected due to a betrayal by Moonrider, the team was destroyed and Infinity Man was defeated by OMACs. Moonrider opens a closely guarded door by Dreamer and finds the real Dreamer, (the current one from the series) sleeping there. He wants to leave the place but Dreamer doesn't let him but he leaves anyway via the boom tube and dies.

Turns out he's been dead all along and Dreamer has been dreaming him back to life hoping to keep him alive there but in an endless loop he always chooses to leave. The "dream" Dreamer wakes up the real Dreamer and tells her to try again. The final page mirrors the first page and ends with "To be continued... Forever".
I skipped some of smaller events but that's basically what happens. I'd still recommend buying the book because it was really well written. Doesn't hurt that the art is also good.

That sounds pretty solid.

Not even Velvet could stand a chance against Destiny last night. I haven't hit my books yet, but I'm glad to hear decent reviews of Copperhead. I'll try to read that first today.

So here is some pictures of ThyComicCave... Still got shit todo but gave up for the night.
I feel like it's a little childish compared to all you pros lol

Jae Lee statue is soooo damn sweet!

I don't really like how this side of the room is looking,, and I might have went a little overboard with hanging my signed comics.
But love to look at em. Need to buy a lot more frames.

Don't forget
Lois being connected to Green Arrow, and the pyramid thing being from him. He's obviously connected to Emiko, whose connected to Barda, whose connected to all the other Earth 2 heroes. It's a big web.

Finished New 52 Batman Vol. 3: Death of the Family last night. Really, really good.

Joker was a lot more messed up than I thought he was going to be. Lot more murderous. When he revealed he cut off the faces of all of the sidekicks I damn near had a heart attack. Then it was revealed that he didn't so that would have been a waste if I died.

A question regarding Batgirl though, why isn't she paralyzed? I thought she was Oracle now?

Was this covered in the first two volumes? Because if so I missed it.

Hey comics GAF.

I just finished

The first world war is a favourite topic of mine, and I'm just realizing what fantastic and untapped potential this subject has for the graphic format. Are there any other books in this vein you would recommend?

She hasn't been Oracle since the N52 started. In the N52 timeline after getting shot by Joker, she spent some time emotionally dealing with it, then had surgery and physical therapy to get back the use of her legs.
