I will def add you (im on xb1).

But the fact that I have to go out of my way to a third-party site to find people to play/chat with is unacceptable.

How soon do you guys think Bungie can fix the chat issue?

The question isn't "can," but "will." Bungie can be... stubborn about their vision of the way their games are supposed to be played. See the music mixer situation :P

Mmm. Fair enough. For me, one of the major drawing points was a Bungie sci-fi story, so I'm inclined to knock a fair few points off for that.

youre def right though... the story is bad. but i have lived through many bad video game stories in my life. so i guess ive just come to accept them at this point

I've just got an exotic rocket launcher. You get a trophy for equipping one and it says that only 0.1% have got that trophy. Must be very rare indeed!

Speaking of trophies. Have you guys checked out the list and rarity? Only 2.9% have captured 50 points in Control!

I'm not clear how these trophy percentages work. Are they a percentage of people that played the game or a percentage of everyone on PSN regardless of whether they have the game or not, or something else? The percentages always seem very low to me so I'm inclined to think they're a percentage of everyone on PSN or something like that.

So just a horde of dumb questions, Im sure but....

I joined DestinyGAF when it was set up during the beta. I can access friends but I can't see a list of the clan members currently online. Considering there are so many, this would be way easier to invite to fireteams as oppose to adding everyone as a friend individually. Is this an option and Im just missing it?

Also, just realized that the subclass to my Hunter opened up 3 levels ago (Im 18). And I have to earn EVERYTHING again (wish THAT late in the process you would at least get the basics like double jumping, but whatever). Even when I cap at 20, if I keep playing with the bladedancer, will I continue to fill in those abilities as I play?

Overall, Im having a lot of fun! Went 30-10 in a crucible match yesterday which was lovely. All that said.... I do see and understand a lot of the complaints and concerns. These may be something that irritates me as well soon, but for now, Im having too much fun with it.

Poodle what happened last night? (I'm NJ Shlice)

After you dropped I tried beating that last part like 15 times and couldn't do it. I was sniping the shit out of all the Knights but started running out of sniper ammo as I respawned.

I went to the friends list to try and find you and get back in, but you were reading as offline; thought your 'net had dropped out or something. We'll definitely have to take another stab at that later.

I agree, it's dumb.

But no, I don't think they'll fix it. Feels like a very intentional thing. The why is what interests me, though....no need for customer service if people can't abuse each other? I dunno..

We need a bigger outcry on Gaf. Maybe its own seperate thread?

Their Reddit page is blowing up about the issue. So its not something they can ignore (I hope).

But... I guess bungie gonna bungie?

I'm not too good at PvP. I average .85 with ~10 kills per match. I get in the zone sometimes and pull off some crazy stuff but it's mostly luck.

That said, the Titan shoulder charge is probably OP. You sprint a little and you can 1HKO anybody who stands close. I manage to pull it off effectively a few times per game but I imagine a skilled player could decimate the field with it. I'm guessing it'll be nerfed rather soon.

Definitely.

Where did you get your ship from?

I put in those 25 codes and it was just a bunch of emblems and trading cards or something.

Why? That's the whole magic of a Diablo style game or MMO, of which Destiny is a mix of both. The addicting factors are everything when it comes to retaining players for long periods of time in a single game.

I think he was referring more to the fact he wants people to use the word 'addictive'.

No! It's the only thing us Titans have!

Exaggeration, but I love shoulder checking / kneeing people. I feel like Akira from Virtua Fighter. If anything, I do it too much and it gets me killed.

There should be 26 codes out there; hold on, let me check my bungie.net account.

EDIT: That's so weird, I'm not seeing the ship in my registered codes section. I have no idea where it came from o.O

Can someone please explain how the post-20 level cap levelling works?

After level 20, you can only level up by equipping gear with a Light value. Better gear has higher Light stats, meaning higher effective level.

Now that I stop and think about it, I'm not sure what having a level higher than 20 gets you, aside from the tangential "better gear" connection.

I think I'm starting to regret going Warlock, their grenades and melee attack are really PvE oriented, I should have went Titan.

Although I am only level 13, does it get better?

I own the game but won't be able to play it for atleast 2 months, so I have a quick question for you Destiny experts. Is there PvP outside of the standard matchmaking? ie. I'm in a party with 2 friends, we are on our way to a mission, and we bump into another crew and get into a fire fight. Does this happen?

Nope.

Nope. You can't harm players out in the world.

I feel the foundation for greatness is there with Destiny, but it just needs a "2.0" patch that tweaks and adds a bunch of stuff. The amount of gear needs to be increased significantly and I feel they really fucked up with the leveling. It's way too slow, and like the gear, there's not enough of it. One of the smartest things Diablo ever did was the infinite amount of levels, end game, and you level quick. Tons of fast leveling, tons of gear exploding everywhere. That's how you make an addicting game. I feel Destiny doesn't have any of the addicting carrots dangling in front of the player in end game for players to continue to play for long time after launch.

I had the opposite thought on the leveling. I'm already a 17 and the game came out Tuesday. I know some people hate grinding, but I'm only slightly worried about keeping myself entertained in two months. I wanted this to be my game of fall. Unskippable story scenes makes me think starting a new class will feel like a slog.

Really digging the game, but I wish we could play with four instead of three. I felt like a dick going into a mission and leaving a friend behind in the tower.

Mobs in the raids and heroic strikes have a level higher than 22...so the gear allows you to hit and damage the mobs by raising you effective level. As soon as a mob has 3 levels on you, your damage begins to greatly decrease as the level gap increases.

If you figure anything out, let me know. I didn't have any problems during the beta, but last night I was getting kicked off every 10 minutes or so..very annoying especially on strikes

My NAT was set to moderate, I managed to set it to Open, let's see if that changes things.

I always thought that was down to the Attack stat vs. Defense stat? So if you had a good enough gun, you could damage enemies higher level?

Of course, now that I actually stop and think about it, most of the guns at any given level (and rarity) have the same attack stat. So there's your impulse: you need to get gear with Light so you can equip better gear so you can earn more gear with Light.

I feel my issue with the leveling is I don't think lvl 17 should be a high level, but in Destiny, it is. In short, I feel 30 levels isn't enough and the result within that is the leveling is far too slow.

I agree about the lack of proximity chat. They could have at least used a system that was similar to old school Phantasy Star onlines universal translator system. The quick chat in that game rocked!

Beat all the story and strike missions, max leveled. So now I have access to the vanguard playlists and working on getting light levels or whatever. The PvE in this game was honestly pathetic, I'm probably going to stick to PvP from here on in.

Hoo boy, I'm having a tough time slogging through Old Russia again.

Not really feeling it (same as with the Beta), but I'm going to stick it out to see some other areas before putting it away.

Overall it just feels very bland. It's a beautiful game made by talented people but I'm having a hard time getting into it.

My friend's titan class just got a hunter armor piece, um?

Since there is no trading, all he can do is sell it.

Yeah, this is one of the downsides to no trading.

Honestly, what's up with Destiny's social features? They're basically nonexistent. I get wanting to protect your player base from assholes and scammers, but they're also crippling the community building tools that are supposed to be at the heart of any social game.

why would guardians fight during missions? you have to save the Traveler!

Fair enough. I guess I just feel mislead in the sense that Bungie/Activision built this up to be a much bigger experience than it actually was. I know it's not an MMO, but the word MMO was thrown around so much describing it that I thought it would be atleast a little closer to that experience. Still going to play it though, as I loved the Halo series.

Playing this is giving me an insatiable lust to replay the Halo games. I'm having plenty fun in Destiny as well, but bring on MCC!
