Nope you are not. Im enjoying the campaign a lot. So much that i refuse to play coop my first run thru them. I just want to take my time and get whatever story bits i can get.

But then i also read all the Grimoire cards and enjoy them as well.

The Grimoire cards are great!

In fact, they're much, much, much better than what's in the game. To the point that I really have to wonder what the hell happened :P

Do skills continue to level up once you hit level 20? Or is the light the only way?

I know in the alpha and beta the skills would continue to level after you hit the cap.

People need instant gratification

People need gratification. Getting through a brutal boss fight and seeing him drop nothing but ammo is just miserable.

Question about subclass.

Can you only have one or the other?

I like the Defender subclass for my Titan, but I miss my Hulk Smash. :(

Any way to combine certain elements of each?

Do abilities relegated to subclass still gain EXP?

'Fraid not. Supers, abilities, etc. are tied to a single subclass only, no mix-n-match. You need to have it active for it to gain XP.

I can't agree with this. That sort of reward in PvP is what the Iron Banner was for I thought. In standard PvP it should be doing a better job matchmaking for balance. We shouldn't see people with subclasses playing with noobs. I know the game wasn't Halo level of balance, but I thought it would be better than this.

Hopefully Bungie will see some sense in releasing a balanced playlist. Why not have an area for people on equal footing ability-wise? What I mean is everyone with double jump, supers, ways to counter supers (I think I read this is there, but honestly I haven't jumped into PvP on retail yet), and standard weapons. I'd even love it a step further - starting weapons and then weapon drops on the map for a more map control type of game (ala Halo).

I was gonna point out something like this in my post. Bungie do have a history of doing good on post support, so I have no doubts we will be seeing something like this. Not across the board, but some sort of playlists where this is met. I wouldn't mind seeing that at all.

Also, all modes currently do have a "drop". At random, boxes of ammo are dropped around the map for your Heavy Weapon, the third weapon slot. In all matches, it always starts with zero ammo for it so getting to those drops gives you a control advantage. The vehicles add a nice mix as well. But yeah, they could expand on some things.

Yea. People keep comparing Destiny to the current state of Diablo 3 which is an incredible game now... but it also took 2 years of updates to reach that point. It launched in a terrible state.

I will say that while the story in Diablo was terrible especially considering that it just cribbed the story progression from D2 it at least HAD a story to speak of. Even just some more dialogue with NPCs throughout the game would help Destiny a lot regarding it's story.

Enjoying the game so far though.

So I don't have the game, but played the beta. Are you able to get any kind of cool, unique weapons that act differently than the regular stock? Like say, a version of that needler/rocket gun the Elites use?

Sorry if this was answered... I know it was but I can't find it...

SUBCLASSES -

I just got to 15, unlocked my subclass, but then noticed all my abilities went away... I see that subclasses are like re-spec's that you can swap on the fly (cool idea) but do I have to just keep building up the subclass tree until it's actually use-able? Should i just be using Gunslinger until Bladedancer actually is ok (i.e. I have no double jump there even). Can I re-assign points to the other class or something?

I'm confused abou that dynamic. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Wow, Sunsinger feels to ... terrible :). Still can't tell what my super Radiance is doing besides looking awesome and punching people to dead. Can anybody help?

Haven't used it much buy pretty sure I wad able to throw 3 grenades while it was up and usually produced 4-6 orbs of lights which is always good for the team.

Yeah I really don't like the base level of Radiance. The description is not clear about what abilities are being buffed. I was doing the same amount of damage to Sepiks Prime with or without the super.

Scorch is awesome tho.

yeah you are essentially lv. 1 again when you switch to a subclass. lv. 1 skill wise anyway.

So you have to go and gain xp while using that subclass now.

For now I am leveling up Gunslinger. That dual throwing knives is calling my name. I must have that.

You need to play with that subclass to gain xp in it, and yes; you need to re-earn everything. No reassigning points either.

wow that's crazy! I wondered.. so I basically switch to the subclass and go grind for a bit?

I thought it unlikely that they would 'yank' something so basic as the double jump or tnife throw but I guess that's the case... it was a big surprise when I got into my first fight and nothing worked

You won't be getting the knife throw; each class has different grenade and melee abilities.

lol I was going into my last strike mission of the night right after hitting 15. I started the game up and the level loaded up. I am running along and jump ... double jump didn't work. Oh well must of been a glitch. Jump ... no double jump. Wait .. WTF is going on is my controller broken? JUMP ... SHIT NO DOUBLE JUMP WTF!

Oh, forgot to switch back to Gunslinger. LOL. Laughed about that.

Your level stays same though right? So you keep the same weapons/armor and continue doing same missions (ie Level 15 missions vs going back to the Level 1 missions)

Yeh you are still technically lv. 15 so can use all your weps / armor. Just gotta get the xp for your new skills. I imagine it will go by very quickly. Just do a few late story missions or turn in some bounties and your golden

My friends and I are loving the game. We're through a couple Venus missions and are all level 12-13 I think. I've stayed up way too late the last couple of nights playing.

Only complaint I'd agree with is that the story is very thin, which is disappointing coming from Bungie. The other complaints are all things that don't bother me, though I get why they would lessen the experience for some.

Otherwise, having a blast with story missions, replaying on higher difficulty, exploring in patrol mode and the strikes. We couldn't finish the moon one, 2 of us where at level 10 when we tried it and just couldn't so enough damage or the boss. Maybe tonight now that we've leveled a bit more.

Yeah, and imagine if she had stayed at a Holiday Inn last night...

Doesn't take much to get grenade and jump back, but if you don't want to level it by playing it just switch to the subclass when you turn in bounties, it'll level up thay way too.

Got Bladedancer and am kind of disappointed by it. Blink Strike seems bad and would can't really see how the throwing knife isn't just flat out better then it. The super is pretty cool, but can't really do much with it in actual hard fights as you will just get killed. Kinda wish I went with one of the other classes now.

I just hit 24 and it's been pretty standard fare thus far. Some weapons have cool effects, and I know of some exotic weapons, but nothing too crazy

I do like that more loot seems to be dropping now that I'm lvl 20, even from normal mobs. Smart way to keep making it addictive even though there's no exp.

Dude it is rough switching subclasses out on PvP. I was doing well with Nova Bombing the hell out of people but being level 18 and having to level up Sunsinger really gimps you. I am sticking with it because in PvE the melee seems stupid powerful and if you don't use it doesn't level up...

I'm finding it fun but it falls short on so many fundamental mechanics that should be there. Especially for a Bungie game. And the content is lacking. If you took out the endlessly spawning mobs and tiresome grinding everyone would realise how little there is to this game.

I'll still be playing it for a few weeks with my mates as that's the only fun I'm getting out of it at the moment. I just hope the reviewers really nail down the negatives and hopefully Bungie take the criticism head on so that Destiny 2 can deliver :)

most people take for granted the enormous maps.

because the activities seem tedious.

pb with Destiny is the lack of a competent tool to manage the community. Bungie.net is not good enough. and adding people to your console account is tedious.

Bungie has talked from day1 as to how Destiny is different from Halo.

And people expecting 500M of content for 60$ a pop are dumb.
We'll bitch about Destiny's content we Bungie will have sold us all the game's expansions because it will probably be the 1st console game to cost 200$ over the course of its life.

Am I alone in thinking the story missions are fun as hell?
Nah, I've played a couple more than once and really enjoyed it. I think they should totally be considered replayable. The way you can play with enemies once you actually know at encounter is fun. Being able to skip cutscenes would be lovely though.

In addition to setting your Fireteam to public, if you find yourself heading toward the start of a story mission area and see another person kind of headed the same way, send them a fireteam invite. I joined up with two randoms last, one each on a moon story mission and an earth story mission and it was quite fun, got me good XP and an engram or more each run despite being overleveled..

There are actually kind of a lot of ways to level/progress.

I like Strikes so far and don't really have any issues with the boss HP as long as the encounters still have some basic challenge to them... they could be tuned down, but I guess I expect these bosses to take a lot of hits while not demanding too much mechanically. They need to be completable by randoms, even without any voice communication in many cases. I hope that the raid does not shy away from more complex and interesting boss fights that require coordination and trial and error.

I'm so glad I have people to play with, the 2 missions I did solo its just completely different. I hate this game solo and I love this game with friends. Without friends its the most anti social / social game ever.

That is so ... so...I .... my mind is truly boggled.

Decisions like that are so bizarre. You need to have a lot of stuff available for people to just jump in and out of. You can't lock all the substantial end game stuff for people that coordinate ahead of time. That should be a very small part.

Titan bubble shield is awesome. Going to be so useful in strikes/raid. Played a bunch of strike playlist and have yet to see another titan use it.

yeah they are missing a dialog box that says wtf is up with that. i'm sure there's already a hundred threads on the bungie forums.

I do feel like they do an excellent job of storytelling with the environments. Just the presence of all this insane stuff on OUR moon does a lot of compelling stuff, I think.
