This is me pretty much. I'm 23 and I only saw one, very early on. My friend and I went to Earth looking for Spinmetal, we spent over an hour harvesting and doing patrol missions, no public events. We thought us being there might trigger one, since we were both level 23.
 
I'm really inconsistent in PVP but still having fun with it. Still a bit of lag or something going on in a few games. Unload a clip into someone and their shields not even drop!

EDIT:
Shingen-C is still beast mode.

Haha... So I am a Hunter. I have only leveled up to 7 because of "real world" circumstances. Should I switch to Titan as my primary? I'm on the fence. I did Warlock in Alpha and Beta.

I've seen a couple, but the problem is the game populates the zones so sparsely with other players that there is either nobody around, or not enough players around, to actually do the damn thing. lol

I rolled with this for a bit last night. Granted I suck at aiming but the kick back threw me off of it.
 
I spent about 2 hours in free roam last night and saw a defend the warsat, a kill the hallowed knight, and a devil walker drop.

Public events seem fine to me. Maybe you guys are just playing in barren instances that don't trigger the events?

Oh, there was one of those extraction team ones too. So 4 in about 2 hours.

That's some tough luck.

The events only show up in certain areas. They do seem to come in a bit less often than the beta, but I've done a few so far.

Play who you'd think you'd like, they all have strengths and weaknesses.

People get blinded as Titans running into shoulder block and get shot to shit, sooo :).

Got to "Path Forgotten" and things are still upgrading downward, but the next one going right, "Fleet Footed" doesn't appear to be filling up its xp bar at all. If I keep playing, even after hitting 20, will I still be able to max out the bladedancer class?

Don't worry about this, just keep playing. You'll unlock all the abilities

Check vendors on Bungie.net -> Boot up PS4 from standby with Vita at work -> Buy wares.
 
Just spent an hour and a half in a random level 22 strike (Mars). In hindsight we have been under geared, but the bosses ****ing piss me off. Stand there folding RT, adds spawn, kill, go back to it.

This one had three small bosses (each taking forever to even kill the shields), and adds just kept spawning. Over an hour.

Not even a boss like Patchwerk in WoW was as boring as these. We all just quit after the wipe

Only Level 5 (I know lol , work sucks) and I've come across two. Both on Earth. Both not nearly enough people around me to complete them in time. First was destroying 6(?) Fallen Extraction devices in the area and the second was the infamous Devil Walker (me and a Level 4 trying to take it on with disastrous results. I must have died at least 7 times).
 
Hand Cannon's are now officially my most favorite weapons in this game. I do not even touch the rest with the exception of a sniper for long distances. I am constantly headshotting enemies left and right. Absolutely wonderful.

Is this the one where you have to fight the Psions with beefy shields? I think that's Dust Palace, the PS exclusive strike. It's probably my least favourite of the bunch.
 
I need to finish up the bounty "Kill 10 Hive Majors or Ultras" and "Kill 10 Vex Majors or Ultras". Any idea where to easily finish these up? Not really sure what makes an enemy a Major or Ultra.

Really loving the game so far but the general population's reticence to join fireteams is a huge bummer. Do people just not realize you're inviting them? Or that they can join you on the fly if you're public? I've had lots of fun with other players out in the wilderness but even though I frantically spam invites to get them to join up the game still auto-disbands our ragtag group when we enter darkness zones.

Its actually quite a bummer.

I may need to join the GAF guild or something.

Really enjoying the atmosphere and story, and the Grimoire aspect on the smartphone is very very fun. Theres a lot of interesting stuff in there!
 
I've played through the game so far solo because my friends and I have conflicting schedules. It sucks but to be honest it really isn't terrible.
 
i actually experienced 2 public events in my first sit on this game, 1 was too far away and the second one i was alone doing a 6 level mission (hard) while i was level 5 and by myself in the area lol (trying to get the kill 100 without dying bounty)

Defend the Warsat public event if you can get it to trigger. I think you can get 3-4 hive majors during one of those.
 
Anyone else having issues with the companion app?

It still says "Tap to Refresh Characters" and won't let me select anything, not even the grimoire. Tried signing with PS and Xbox, no dice either way.

Loot sucka in this game. I knew the weapo s werent gonna be diverse enough. Just skinchanges.

Is that handcannon even in the game that has the animation of cocking it back before firing?????
 
one mission left on the moon and I have to say that area has no sense of place. I dont feel like I know the landscape at all, feels very claustrophobic. on Earth you can look off in the distance and see places you want to go. I just followed the waypoints. hopefully venus will be better about that. a little more open I hope

I have finished the public event bounty 2 times.

All you need to do is stick around in an area for a while, they will eventually start up.
