Discover a different game then?

Kidding. I appreciate all different views on this game, but I guess that's what you get when something this big hits the market. I'm just surprised that some people aren't enjoying what I'm freakin loving.
I'm only 4 hours in, but I love it too. I can see myself playing it for a while, for sure.

I'm quite enjoying exploring and just listening for chests/crafting gear.. the audio queues are very welcome (and come through mean on the Astro A50s I got specially for Destiny) :D

Went to the tower and saw some people kicking around a large red ball, almost like they were playing soccer.

So I kicked the ball off of the ledge because fuck soccer.

😊

Venus is really cool, but the span of the first mission and the first (location spoiler)
Reef
cutscene contains the worst stretch of writing in the game, and that's saying something.

"I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain."

"Evil so dark it despises other evil."

"Why are the right places always so dangerous? [awkward pause for laughter]"

"Have you heard of the Black Garden?" "I've heard the stories." <- a blatant lie because no one in the game has mentioned the fucking thing at this point

Such a pretty zone though. Great music too.

The story is so bad and I am dying for someone to make a spoiler Lore thread to really discuss it.

The Darkness' armies surround us....

Wtf, what armies, all I see is Fallen trying to survive (I'm growing fond of them) and the rest all seem to hate each other.

I see the Titan#s supers as either a "oh shit" defense button or as an orb generator/add destroyer so your teammates can fill their supers quicker and focus on DPS.

I mean, hell a golden gun hunter does ridiculous damage to bosses. filling his super really fast is key to downing them quickly.
Yep. I think there's a definite synergy between the different classes' supers that is not apparent if you're playing solo.

1. The jack on the PS4 controller needs a three ring jack. Most headsets only use a 2 ring jack, which is why your headset isn't working. Even when you find the proper jack, the quality can be hit or miss. Honestly your best choice would be to look specifically for headsets labeled as PS4 compatible. There's a few out there that aren't overly expensive but if you want both sound and mic quality, it's worth spending a bit more. Especially since a good headset will help you hear the sound of nearby chests while exploring in Destiny.
Hrrrm... rings. Bleh. Well, thanks for the info. Do you have a specific recommendation? Iiiiii had no idea chests even made a noise X'(

2. Bungie sent out this tweet on Sep 3rd linking to a site that does pretty much what gw2lfg does.
Not to be dismissive of that, but despite a charming URL that site has like 1/4 the functionality and 0% of the utility. :( I don't think saying it "pretty much does what www.gw2lfg.com does" is anywhere close to accurate. You can list your class, but... you could put your class in the comments field anyway if you felt the need. This site makes you register, only shows profiles, and only allows you to list a time zone rather than a specific time...

Most importantly that site doesn't have anywhere for you to say what you want a fireteam for. :P Unless I'm missing something, I see literally no way to use it in the same way you'd use gw2lfg.

Uh, so I just did the Dust Palace strike and I didn't get any of the PS exclusive gear. Nothing at the postmaster either. Am I missing something?

I don't think it's a 100% drop rate.

Umm... so I just loaded up the weekly heroic strike. Only to realise it doesn't have matchmaking? Are you SERIOUS?
Nope. I did it with one other friend. You also don't auto respawn from death, someone has to revive you.

Have fun!

This is quite wrong, regular headsets with two rings work fine, just no mic of course.

If the mic isn't working, then you're not getting the full use of the headset. So "not working" is correct when viewed in the context of what the question was. Which, if you look, was about the audio in his headset working just fine but the mic not working.

Edit: Answered the next part in a new reply for visibility.

ok im done with crucible why does it reward bad players ? only the top 3 should get gear
No. You want to encourage everyone, not just the top dogs, to play. There's no way a lot of folks are going to play if the only thing they'll get out of it is their head stomped in. There needs to be a carrot.

A mix of the two ideas might be nice. Maybe have the top player a guaranteed drop and two or three random, or something.

I love this game and it's a lot of fun but I can't help but feel they bit off more than they could chew and due to time constraints had to cut off alot of the game.

For example in the tower there is that arch entrance that has a vertical strips of wall blocking it off but it looks like they had built up the world behind it, I feel like the tower was going to have more areas to it but they had to cut it out for some reason and blocked it off.

The first time you get your ship on earth you fly past some interesting set pieces showing off different locals but in the end old Russia is the only place that you can go on earth, I think I remember even seeing pre release art showing off other earth locations.

I also feel like they knee capped themselves with the level cap and making the talent tree a little short, seems like the plan might have been a higher level cap and then realizing they couldn't have all the content they wanted at launch they just capped it at 20 and gave you abilities faster as you level up.

The game is great but I feel like they were hoping to achieve so much more and when reality set it and time constraints etc they closed the package up as is and shipped it out the door. Hope the expansions expand more on the last city of Earth and provide us with more locals to explore.

Yeah, even as a bad player I agree. There should/could be some kind of tie to medals/awards. MVP? Top leader? Get the best loot.

Although then they'll just keep winning.

Hmmm.

Scratch that.

Anybody in the squad I was in yesterday looking to do more PvP today? Let me know. Gonna try to fold a few clothes, then I'll get online.

I'm down if you'll be on tonight.

I didn't realize you were only referring to Crucible. I haven't touched that mode, so my insight only applies to all of the other modes.

Could have done without the condescending final remark though, was only trying to help you.

Sry I've got no excise besides I'm grumpy today.

I've been underwhelmed with the game like many others but still having a decent amount of fun trying out the different classes and weapon types.

However I just did the Moon Strike mission for the first time and it left a real sour taste in my mouth. It just wasn't fun... at all. It went on far too long and the seemingly endless Knights and Wizards left me really lamenting the serious lack of AoE options available to your character. I got paired with two good players who were constantly reviving and we beat it first try, but the sense of accomplishment was replaced by a 'thank fuck that's over'.

Apparently I can get £35 for it at CEX so it's going back tomorrow, maybe I'll pick it up down the line if they fix the matchmaking.

I don't mind that - but aren't ALL the other strikes matchmade? If so why would they make the weekly one not?

Because the weekly strike is not a normal strike,it's a heroic one. It's supposed to be hard and you are supposed to do it with a properly set up group.

I mean come on man it's a once a week thing. do you really want to have a weekly thing in the game you just PUG with some noobs and get a reward out of it each tuesday?

P. sure that opens up for like Iron Banner type stuff...

That area is called "Traveller's Walk" and opens up once the Iron Banner pens up. It is not a permanently open place apparently, only opening for events.

Why can't I at least be given the option? If me and 2 randoms are good enough to complete it then why not?

I'm still not sure what to make of the multiplayer in this game.. I'm currently playing Rumble and consistabtly coming first with a KD of 2 ish. Most maps are tiny and cramped so shotgun is lolpwn and you almosylt always snag a kill even in a tight spot, as for the maps that are open, it feels the complete opposite and you spend half the game searching for folks.

A lot of kills feel cheap and it's much like Call of Duty in the sense that often it boils down to who spots who first.

What's there to encourage someone from actually trying if their chances of getting loot is the same whether they do well or stand afk the entire time though?

Also, is there any incentive for winning at all? Just did my daily ffa pvp mission, didn't win, still got those pvp marks and shit. Is it the same in team matches or if it's not the daily mission?

If you play Control then it's fairly obvious where to find your opponents.

That part of the tower opens up when the Iron Banner tournament is active for PVP/Crucible matches, happened in the beta.

But I don't disagree with your overall point.

Finished a PvP match before where my team was getting decimated and yet I still managed to give the other team a hard time. Tiger Knees and Shoulder Charges everywhere and my trusty shotgun.

But I managed to get my first Legendary for my effort!

And here it is:

Oh so I just haven't gotten that far in the game yet, It seemed to me like it was obvious they had put effort it behind that will at was a shame it was blocked off

I don't know anything about these rings but my Sensheiser Momentum on hear headphones work as a mic and headphones fine. But you have to enable it on PS4.
Under system settings, go to devices (might be named audio devices, I don't remember). Go to the microphone settings. Here I was able to speak into the mic and have it recognized. Once I did that, it was recognized elsewhere. My mic was not recognized until I went into this setting.

You can also go go adjust devices from the PS button and change your sound output to all audio or chat only.

I personally have used Turtle Beach headsets and like their comfort and sound. I don't have experience with their less expensive sets though (the cheapest I've owned was $80). A lot of people also like Astro brand headsets but again, I haven't tried any. Other than that, a lot of people like the Playstation official "Gold" and "Elite" headsets.

Well I never really bothered with actually using gw2lfg personally. I had the luck of being in the awesome GW2 Gaf guild, so parties were always just a guild message away. :P I simply meant that it's a third party site meant to be used for finding fireteams in the same way that gw2lfg does.

I've yet to see the ball in the tower in the beta or final game lol

I tried out a shotgun for a couple games, and was amazed at how OP it was in some corridors but I didn't find it that fun to use. Fusion Rifles on the other hand...
