What's the best way to get new shaders? I already know about the lady near the speaker who sells'em.

Also, I've got to repeat: Skirmish (3v3) is SO GOOD. If you find yourself not liking the PvP, try it with a full team.

I see people getting a decent amount from PvP.

Stuff to ponder

As of right now, fewer than 1 in 3 Destiny players have successfully completed a strike.

0.3% have completed one without anyone dying.

I wonder how many are getting dropped with errors. The last three strikes I did at various points I get dumped out with a connection error, on the third try the boss was nearly dead and *poof*, back in orbit.

I haven't bothered trying again.

Been going dark on the game, after the slew of reviews I really need to know now.

1) How big are each of the areas in the game & how many are there?
Like in Borderlands 2, there were maybe a dozen hub areas & they were very big, some practically the size of open world games, where you absolutely needed a vehicle to get around in them.
How big are the areas in Destiny?

2) How is the gun variety?
Are all the core weapons the same as Halo but with different stat variations or are there really super unique rare weapons like there were in Borderlands 2?

3) How is online co-op?
Is it like Borderlands 2? Just drop-in/drop-out co-op in anyones game or in yours (i spen the majority of my time with that)?
I been hearing evil things about no matchmaking in this game, makes me verrrry weary about the game.

Man the level 8 strike is nuts! I tried it with some randoms earlier and we kept getting killed during the 3rd wave will all the stealth vanguard dudes. :/ anyone have any tips?

I think it's notable. The Level 8 strike is a perfectly viable candidate for obtaining this achievement... yet, well, nope.

I think I died ~20 times trying to complete the Earth one. :/

There is a catwalk behind the place where the Ghost scans that most enemies ignore... I picked off a few of those invisible guys there. Also, there is a walkway in the Spider Boss that if you are under it, you can shot it through the walkway/environment and it can't kill you. You have to watch out for the other enemies, tho.

I was a little disappointed when I realized 1) you can't shoot at anything while inside of it and 2) the big baddies can just come right in after you and kill you anyway. It's not a bad super but I have to be cautious of where I put one because of that. You don't want it in too good of a vantage spot because you then lose that area to shoot from. It's also nice when having to revive someone though.

Same.

I regret going Titan, they're so useless in PvE. No point in their offensive abilities against bosses and their bubble is also pointless given the wide variety of cover available.

Gonna level a Warlock despite having my Titan at 24 already.

Ouch that's not what I want to be reading leveling my Titan:(

A friend and I both got it at midnight and we play together every night and we're doing our first raid together tonight. (I already played one tuesday though)

Some people just dont have the time :/ idk if we'll be able to do the raid :P

weird that there's no matchmaking system for fireteams... or have I just missed it? I have two friends I play with when we can but I'd love an easy way of joining up with people my same level and do some quests. Did bungie seriously overlook this?

Is there a list of all the game modes? I see you guys talking about strike, clash, rumble etc.
Currently I'd put it like this. To an extent this is kind of open to interpretation I guess

PvE
Patrol - explore and do quests. Sometimes (more times soon) there are random events that happen out here.

Main Story - missions with cutscenes where a story theoretically happens but you are not really all that interested or capable of understanding what's happening
Side Story - missions without cutscenes where a story theoretically happens but you are not really all that interested or capable of understanding what's happening

The above two can be done in either Normal or Hard. Hard is fun for both, I honestly wouldn't ever touch normal.

Strikes - mini-raids for 3 people. These are tough. Voice communication is ridiculously helpful, and there are encounters that you are likely to just scrape by, but the bosses themselves are typically pretty simple, mechanically.

Heroics - harder versions of either the Strike mini-raids for 3 people or the Story missions, to be completed once weekly and once daily respectively. No matchmaking.

Raids - ??? (6 people, first one comes out on the 16th) No matchmaking.

PvP
Control - Control Point/Domination/Whatever
Clash - Team Deathmatch
Rumble - FFA
Skirmish - Interesting, 3v3 team deathmatch with the ability to revive fallen comrades in proximity.
Salvage - resource gathering? I dunno.
Iron Banner - Combat with full item/level stat effects from PvE gear.

i'm not sure if I missed anything

I don't think so, but they made a stupid oversight- you have to set your Firetream to Public in the menus. It's not the default.

Hey guys, a question: what's the max number of players that can be encountered in a PvE instance? I mean, a fireteam is what, six players? How many fireteams can be in a single instance at the same time?

I'm assuming this game is instanced. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think they overlooked it, exactly. But no, it's not there. Try http://www.destinylfg.net/, it's been more and more active

That you have to do this every time you log in, that's a stupid oversight, the one truly unforgivable flaw in this game right now in my opinion

I think 12?

Oh, I didn't know that. Oops. That is fucking dumb.

Watching football while playing Destiny on my Vita. So awesome. Shocked how well it runs on my crap connection. After about the first 10 minutes, I only got 2 lag spikes over the next 45 or so.

Got to level 20, and I now have a rare machine gun to go with the stranger's rifle. Definitely my favorite game of the year so far. The structure is flawed and the Tower could have functioned better as a recruitment hub, but the volume of terrain and fun combat makes up for it. I did some of the latter Mars missions solo, and they took about 35 minutes each. Very reminiscent of mission six, The Ark, from Halo 3. I wish there had been more to the plot and some more vehicle variety, but they can build on that. Overall they hit the mark in terms of building a game world you will want to jump back into. Now I have to decide if I want to dedicate time to finding the best possible gear for my Hunter, or get going on a Warlock.

So once you hit 20 you have to get gear that has light to level up right? What's the best way, crucible and high level strike missions?

Alright, DGAF, I have an important question to pose you: what faction should I go with?
The faction gear oddly enough has stat biases, so you might want to consider that.

Umm... do you throw grenades, use your class R1, or melee more often? I think that's how that works

My goodness Rumble is soooo good. Feels like I found my calling. As some of you know, I've been the biggest naysayer of this game, but I am officially in love! Played it all day and got to 20. Still need to beat it though and do the mars strike. Rumble is just so much fun. Good maps and the games flow quickly. Sucks you have to be 1st to get three caps and full points, but other then that it's perfect.

Also, can someone please explain to me how factions work? I have no idea what it is.
