So yea getting farther in the story and damn I'm loving it. I do wish there was more but what is here is damn interesting.
Me too, I think it's delivered a bit unorthodox, but that's part of the reason I like it. Bungie striking a good balance between meat and mystery again.

Currently lvl 22 and I'm lovin the Defender Subclass contrary to the opinions in this thread.

I feel like it is actually an interesting super opposed to the one-shot-wonder supers.
Sometimes it is hard to use but if you play enough with it you will find a lot of good and most of all fun uses for it.
Armor of Light is really really good, you can solo clear whole add waves without really getting damage at all or you can use it to man-fight bosses in melee (the second usage is not very effective but pretty fun)

Sadly I couldn't test Weapon/Blessing of Light yet but I think they could be viable for support.

In PVP I quite like the possiblity to block chokepoints with it, e.g. in Shores of Time a Ward of Dawn inside the T-shaped Tunnel will block those 3-ways for the whole duration. And with Armor of Light skilled anyone that is stupid enough to walk into your personal Fight Club gets two fists to the face and is dead. Should they ignore you, you can weave in and out of the Ward with a Fusion Rifle or Shotgun to kill them. And even if you can't kill them you most likely have pinned a few enemies down without any effort on your side.

All in all I think Defender is pretty good so far, I'm kinda bummed out that I can't use my flash bangs with it. But I haven't tested Surpressor Grenades yet, maybe those will be a good replacement.

Here is the events calendar:

So I have to wait till October to get that fucking dead ghost behind the Iron Banner door?

clash is easy as hell if you hunt in a pack of 3 with the other members of your team confusing the opposition of your position. Lost count how many times I have walked up behind 3 or more while they are focusing their attention elsewhere.

Clash has got to be the worst game mode ever. I've played it three times now and I'm reminded how much more superior Control is. Clash is just random clusterfuck after another.

Where did you get this from?

I got it from nowhere. I wrote it myself. It's pretty much how it goes though.
My friend has the brady guide and it refers to the stars+laurel missions as "story missions" and the star-only missions as "side missions".

And from my personal experience, that's exactly how it is.

For people who care about the story and are afraid of it being disjointed or something, I give you the following advice:

I really hope this helps some people enjoy/understand the "story" of the game more.

Already knew this, but I recommend playing them anyways. One of the last ones is pretty interesting and I hope it gets elaborated on some more in the future.

I don't mind it because I play PVP without a team mostly. In control I've ran into more organized teams.

Anyone up for the Earth strike mission?

PSN: UnionCarbine
where are you ;_;

disagree! clash is very tactical. control is a lot more interesting than I usually find domination modes though. problem with control is having a team, if you have one you're in a party with then it's great.
Defender is fucking ace in PvE. Dudes be on some shit.
My man. Are you playing tonight?

is there any counter to the titan bubble shield or do you just have to wait it out? are they invincible inside of it, or just extra shields?

Well, the moon's strike mission made me lose my will to play Destiny.

At least for the time being.

It's also disappointing how...samey Venus is to Old Russia. I think the beta pretty showed all of Destiny's cards. I may have totally wasted my money here.

Care to explain? So far all the bosses are bullet sponges and you are given a ton of cover.

Boss battles end up being

- Hunter firing from range, eventually fires his super ability.
- Warlock firing from range, eventually fires his super ability.

and

- Titan firing from range, torn between popping a useless cover/shield (because you are given more than enough environmental cover), and killing himself with his super ability.

I REALLY hope a Defender Titan has a role in the raid, I'd hate to leave my 24 Titan parked while I focus on the more viable Hunter/Warlock.

Edit: Character dump

I hate this game, straight up hate this game. Spend 3 hours running level 22 strikes, get a full inventory of shit to decrypt, go decrypt it. And I wish I could say it was fucking nothing but it's fucking worse, It was 99% nothing, and the second to last thing I decrypt happens to be some purple motherfucking boots. I'm all excited and shit until I open up my inventory to equip the badboys just to be greeted with:

Here's a video so you can see this shit happen the way I did.

This is just beyond terrible, your chance for legendary is already super low and apparently you can get them for classes you're not even playing. That's mindblowingly retarded in a game that has no trading functionality. I'm done for today.

Called a couple of friends over last night for an all-nighter Destiny marathon. Was good stuff. We submitted this image for the Go Glacier contest hehe

Overall, having a fun time with Destiny for now. I see room for numerous improvements (mostly stuff people have mentioned in this thread), but so far everything is going good.

PS. ,,!,,(-_-) to those disconnects. Kept plaguing us last night.

Kinda lame how we can't see how shaders will make our guys look like without buying it first.

Any good examples of how the Provincial Royale shader looks like?

It depends on the spec they are using, with Armor of Light skilled you might aswell ignore them, while they "only" get extra shield I don't think it's possible to solo kill them inside of it, maybe a rocket to the face from inside the Shield but I wouldn't be so sure.

Without Armor of Light they are as easy to kill as ever, the problem is I don't think you can see what they have speced, so it's a gamble to run inside the bubble. But even then be prepared to at least get one punch to the face before you can finish them off.

I just want to say this again: I was a big hater (though not strongly) of this game and decided to purchase on impulse. And this game just drags you in after the initial burn in. I am still VERY pissed about not getting my Inner Chamber emblem from Bungie, but Destiny is fucking awesome. The shooting is what kept me in - guns are fantastically fun to shoot.

i think the way to tell is to look at the orientation of the colors. the circle in the middle is your helmet color, part of your body armor and other decorations like pouches. the ring around it is the rest of the armor color, and the background color changes the class item

I was a little disappointed when I realized 1) you can't shoot at anything while inside of it and 2) the big baddies can just come right in after you and kill you anyway. It's not a bad super but I have to be cautious of where I put one because of that. You don't want it in too good of a vantage spot because you then lose that area to shoot from. It's also nice when having to revive someone though.

Look at your ability tree. That bubble shield spawn shields on anyone that moves through it. It allows for faster reloads and increased damage for the party. It spawns orbs of light when it receives damage and when the titan uses his heavy weapon he spawns orbs of light.

I was pubbing a mars strike and saved my group twice with the bubble shield. Once leveled up its awesome. When it's new yes it sucks nuts.

Protip: to level up defender without grinding it swap into defender when you turn in bounties. All the Xp will go to your defender job. Then when it's strong enough take it into pve.

I'm almost 25. From my experience, Vanguard Strikes are dropping the best loot for me due to their guaranteed drops. Crucible hasn't been nice with my loot drops despite always being among the top 3.

Thank you! I'll just stick to what i'm doin then. Gonna run a train on these strikes until i'm suitably kitted.

fellow gaffers, honestly, how is this game?

I was mildly interested, not as hyped as most of the people, but still interested somehow. but then I read a lot of complatins, of lot of "meh" and flaws about the game. "huge areas full of nothing, story mode doesn't have matchmaking etc." - which doesn't sound goot at all.

however my main concern is the competititve multiplayer, because usually that's what I play the most. in Halo Reach I enjoyed the competititve multiplayer, can I expect something similar here?

I can put a screenshot up of it later, but I bought it and it looks straight up Pink when it doesn't really seem like it from the emblem, lol.
