My first MAJOR gripe with the loot. You absolutely shouldn't get loot that is class specific to a class you aren't currently playing. After playing several hours after lvl 20 and finally getting a legendary... I got some boots that are Warlock required when I've only been playing Hunter :(

I was actually telling my clan members how broken it was that this was a possibilty... then it happened to me first legendary :( Not gonna lie... pretty salty right now. I have no desire to level up a Warlock to use these.

I didn't even think that was possible. That really does suck.

Does the Iron Banner seriously not start until October? I've been saving up so I can have the burning warlock bond and I have to wait that long?

Vendor comes supposedly on weekends to the Tower, sells exotic armor and weapons. Unfortunately they're bought with strange coins, which are one of the possible drops of public events. And like the shit I want requires 7.

I got a strange coin earlier, woo! Just one, though.

You can get coins from pvp too

I have like 8.

Just did a bunch of the Moon Story missions on harder difficulties. Some intense stuff. Enemies generally being higher levels than we were. Just gets absolutely insane. Fending off a giant 20ft high mega boss whilst you've got crap load of mini grunts, hive, wizards and super sword wielding acolytes on you. Can't believe how many close calls we had lol.

I also honestly cannot believe some people think the AI is poor. AI was causing tonnes of problems for us. Constantly hiding or taking sneaky pot shots, protecting the more powerful enemies when their shields or health was low, flanking, catching us by surprise, the giant enemies standing over your corpse to ensure you couldn't be revived and all sorts.

That random event on the moon where dozens and dozens of the Hive, Fallen etc all fight against each other was awesome too. Like being stuck in the middle of a little war. My fire team was aided by 3 other randoms and we managed to clear it.

Oh and lastly, I just find the art direction, atmosphere and scope in this game beautiful to behold. Stunning landscapes, skyboxes etc.

I suck at FPS but I am also new to PS4 and I feel extra stupid when I die because my finger slips to touch the ps home button :(

anyway to turn this button off while I play?

Single player has been fun although just after two days it already seems very repetitive. PvP in this game is abysmal. I have no clue how Bungie managed to make a PvP game that feels so clunky and stale. I will still play the game to give it a shot but right now I am feeling a little regret buying this. My guess is that the reviewers are going to gut this game hard.

I'm level 22 and grinding the 22 "Strikes" for gear and looking for friendly people to group with, my name on PSN is Fourbin.

The randoms were probably me and my fireteam lol. We just did that one with some other "randoms" (maybe you) about 45 min ago. Normally would think it was a coincidence but that was the FIRST public event I've seen and I'm halfway to 22. Can't be too many of them going on!

Finally hit level 20 tonight. Should be able finish up the campaign tomorrow and then start the grind for whatever comes after that.

Fantastic game. I just wish public events were a little more frequent; can't wait until they update that. I've only had one event happen the entire time I've played.

finally found my niche

pve:
bladedancer
hand cannon
fusion rifle

pvp:
gunslinger
auto rifle or scout rifle depending on map
fusion rifle or sniper rifle depending on map

refuse to give up my throwing knife with all you shoulder charging titans running around. eagerly anticipating the moment i unlock two of them.

Heh, I'm doing the exact same thing in PvE. Haven't tried the PvP yet, but isn't the arc blade a better super than golden gun in pvp? Golden gun is restricted to 3 shots but with arc blade you can potentially get more kills.

it's not about the kills to me, but the risk. blade dancer puts me in CQB and requires that i find a group of enemies to use it on effectively. on the other hand, golden gun works across the map and is almost impossible to avoid. it can also damage huddled targets with explosion enabled, and there are ways to gain additional shots.

Completed the Moon story missions save for the Moon Strike (gonna do that in about an hour) and although I entered them at Level 20, I'm glad there was a Level 20 Hard difficulty setting. Was kinda hoping to try them on the harder levels, but can't do Impossible in my condition (don't know why they couldn't give a Very Hard difficulty setting on 20+ levels).

Chosen Knights that use melee weapons are a real bitch. And some of those final fights...hoo boy, they know how to keep you on your toes. Fucking Thralls love getting on my ass.
Never thought I would at one point be using a big ass sword. Killing those Princes was so worth it

Might venture into Venus tonight after some Crucible matches. And I'll probably go back to Old Russia to explore that cave with the powerful enemies from the alpha/beta

Got another Mote baby.

So with Engrams. I have been saving them up.
Decrypt at 20? Or how do I go 20+ and should I use the Engrams then..

Blade dancer does give you absurd bullet resistance though. They can laugh off a point blank shotgun shot.

Ether seeds, yo.

1. Do they drop purely randomly from the Fallen?
2. Is the amount of glimmer earned from each kill affected at all by enemy type/level? And...
3. Where/when is the best place to pop them?

Cheers, Gaf

I need confirmation that engrams scale to your level. I'm hearing it doesn't matter from some, from others I'm hearing you should wait until 20.

Okay I get it, I'll still use handcannon in PvP so would probably prefer the golden gun in any case. Leveling up both subclasses separately is a pain though.

Finished mission 2. Old Russia is...kinda big? Spent an hour running around ignoring my objective, finding loot, Ghosts and spinmetal (which is a terrible name, BTW), and in the process wandering into territory that was way over my level 2 head. Level 4 and 6 dudes, with a few ?? bouncers in the mix had me turning back quick. I'll be back.

To the dude who briefly partnered up with me as we entered the tunnels below: that was some great tag teaming on the skirmish right before we went in. I'm sorry I had to leave, but you chose to try to tackle those Goblin Knights with ??? level, and I decided to not die. Your dying shriek amid a hail of giant energy bolts as I bolted back upstairs did not make me regret my decision. RIP battle bro.

The cinematic with the Speaker was really awful. Contrived, not useful in terms of story and pretentiously presented.

Impressions from first mission and the beta are holding: interesting world, poor story telling, fun levels to explore and solid combat. So far so good.

Uhhh I just tried doing the daily heroic strike and it put me in by myself... does it not matchmake for that?

Nope and you better have some high level peeps with you because that strike is so fucking hard. Me and a friend tried it just the two of us, got to Sepik Prime and just couldn't do it.

But its a miracle we got past that first section at all.

Absolutely 1000% percent this.

The environments are what bring me back, along with the ebb and flow combat can have, especially in co-op. Those things they fucking nailed, even being cross platform and cross generation.

This whole "game begins at 20" line confuses me.
It was said Diablo began at 70, yet i enjoyed it a ton and still haven't reached 70, but also have no desire too, since adventure mode is just repeating content over and over again.

At least Diablo however up until you beat the reaper was varied and engaging.

Destiny is literally just clearing waves of enemies with the same guns with different names. The abilities aren't even very different.

I got three strange coins for completing the Heroic Weekly.

The amount of detail in the grimoire cards is insane. Definitely "epic" in nature. I'm both overjoyed and incredibly disappointed by this.

Got to level 22 today. I was missing a Rare Primary Weapon that I really liked though. I don't mind The Stranger's Gun, but I'm a hand cannon kind of guy so I grinded out some rare drops on Venus attempting to get a Rare hand cannon. The first time I got two chest pieces and two heavy weapons but no primary weapon. I decided to give it one more go before bed. Just get one blue drop then call it a day. After about 15 minutes I got a blue primary weapon engram. I was thrilled, but cautious. It could still be something I didn't want, like a pulse rifle or even an uncommon weapon. I took it to the Cryptarch, asked for the decrypt and held my breath. A blue hand cannon! Eureka! My Warlock now feels somewhat complete.

More on that Legendary machine gun:

They should really just put them in the game, to drill into out when you first stumble upon them, or to save for later reading/viewing in the tower or while waiting for other players.

It wouldn't diminish the app or the website one bit, which both already have their uses.

I thought Motes were for leveling up, no?
And if I am 20, should I still turn in bounty or respec?

I don't know the progression in this game.

Level 20 has been a real disappointment thus far. Since this game refuses to give me anything but the same uncommon loot drop over and over, my only option is to buy gear by either grinding away Vanguard marks in the Strike playlist or getting my head kicked in playing Crucible matches over and over.

I can't be the only one who finds it stupid that leveling past 20 requires RNG to be kind to you.
I don't have an issue with it. I think it's fun to have something to work towards, and it makes the essential loot scores even more exciting.

I'm playing control and attempting to buy legendary gear via factions. I just wish more bounties were available as I blow through the multiplayer ones pretty quickly.

But, yes, the cool gear is all post 20 and the opportunities to earn it are too few right now, I think.

Guess I'm getting lucky. I just hit 22 and I'm scrapping unneeded blue drops every 20 - 40 minutes or so.
