Ono mentioned that even though a new fighting game is in development, don't expect any announcement before next year.
If this is a fighting game he's teasing, it'll probably be just a port, I don't see why he'd have to be at SCEA for that though.

I'd be delighted if it were that; the Youtube facility simply does not work for me on 360. PS4 would solve that. Plus USFIV on PS4 would be something in the much nearer future than SFV would.

Gotta get some more games to justify the stick I'll likely buy for Guilty Gear Xrd.

Honestly the fact that he's supposedly working on other stuff doesn't mean that this teasing isn't about Deep Down.
After all it's a project they're making with the help of Sony, it was announced at the PS4 Februrary presentation....and they need to start talking about the game seriously after the mutiple delays of the beta.
I wouldn't rule out this is about Deep Down.
 
Here's what I think happened:

He really wanted to make a new Darkstalkers
Capcom said no, we're not risking money on that
So he asked Sony to fund it so there'd be no risk for capcom
So Darkstalkers 4 is PS4 exclusive

I think if Ono is indeed working on another PS4 title (which he allegedly is) then this is about it. I don't think they would be pretending it's a surprise announcement/reveal if it was Deep Down because that was already announced and they would be up front about any new information about it.
 
Just to vent a little.

It's hard to get excited for a 3rd party exclusive because of the hyperbole bullshit of the fan base. Just look at Rise of the Tomb Raider and the shit that Square Enix and Microsoft got for trying to workout a deal that benefitted both.

Imagine if this was Dragon Dogma 2 as the exclusive. It would be a deal that will benefit both companies but fan base will turn the announcement into a hyperbole shit fest. No matter what's announce is I expect it to turn ugly on Gaf.

Why shouldn't it be a shitfest? Just because these deals benefit them doesn't always mean it's a benefit to the consumers.

Well, it kinda would be a bit if this does end up with a previously multiplatform series like Dragon's Dogma or Street Fighter going PS4 exclusive, and people would be right to go apeshit about it, just like they were over Tomb Raider.

I don't believe for a single second that is what this'll be about though. It's almost certainly Deep Down related, with an USF4 port as an outside possibility... with a slight chance it could be some Capcom/SCEJ collaboration we don't know about yet but with Deep Down still in development I doubt it's that.

Dragon's Dogma was amazing but I'm not sure Capcom would invest that much again into a sequel considering how much the first game sold. Wasn't it one of their most expensive projects ever?

DMC5 would probably be a better bet for the project Itsuno and his team are working on.

If it is a fighting game exclusive to PS4 the internet will go into full melt down. I put my money on either SFV timed exclusive, MVC4 fully exclusive or Onimusha fully exclusive.

Let just make one thing clear, I'm not big on the Xbox brand whatsoever. I just don't like it.

With that said, I respect what Microsoft did by getting Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusive to an extant to their platform. They're trying to win fan base, put value on their platform, and they're making it clear they're in competition with Sony.

Yes it's shitty for consumers, but I mean what do gamers expect? Not everyone should have everything and there should be first and third party exclusive or else their won't be a reason to have multiple console companies.

I don't intend to ever buy a Xbone but if Microsoft bought enough third party JRPG I will buy a Xbone just for those games. See how that works?

Considering that all of Capcom's console games are multiplat now unless a console maker is included (unlike most of the other Japanese developers).

Why are people suggesting existing Capcom IPs? Why would Sony fund a game from an existing Capcom IP? Outside of their Pub Fund program (for indie developers), they typically hire developers to make new IPs for them.

Although, if Ono really wanted to bring back one of their old IPs and they didn't have the money to do... maybe something changed? Eh. Good thing there's only 6 days until we find out.

If Adam Boyes was sitting in on the meeting, then it has to be something of actual significance. I'm expecting a port of Ultra to PS4, but I would be happy to get Onimusha as well.

I'm just trying to see it from both sides. The only thing I don't understand is the fan base and the Lvl of reaction from them whenever something is announce that they don't approve of.

Deep down I don't care about this. I was trying to put forward something I was thinking without sounding like a Sony fanboy.
