Had a good few games with people, name on PS4 is totally different to on here it's colonel_jake although a bet a few of you didn't know I was from GAF because I'm not in a clan yet. But a few of you were jealous I got a purple, don't worry I only got two crafting materials and no weapon or armour.

HNNNNGGGG first bit of Legendary armour!

So I'm thinking of joining a faction. Two questions. Is there anywhere I can read up on each one and actually find out what I'm getting into? And if I don't join a faction, can Vanguard marks and stuff be used for anything? Thanks!

Spent all day doing PVP. Got the max cap of 100 marks now, although my rep is only 1 (and you need at least 2 to buy armour, 3 to buy weapons). Also got all the PVP trophies, including the Wizard/Hunter/Titan triple kill.

Not sure whether to keep playing PVP to get rep (if I can get to level 2 I can buy some sweet armour for 65 marks), or do strikes now to level up my Vanguard PVE and get marks for that (only got 25 so far).

Is there mission structure in this game? In what order should I be completing missions to experience a coherent version of the story?

Also, where are the best drops found? PvP? PvE raids, strikes, etc? How can I tell if I'm walking away from a dope loot drop? Are they marked?

Yeah. And that's more often the case.

I've had Bladedancer unlocked for a couple of days now and the opportunities to get four or five kills are slim. It's not easy to do so even when the opportunities present themselves as you have to get in real close and are not invulnerable.

Sheesh. I thought I was posting a fun gif.

I thought it was a fun gif so keep your chin up! ;)

I am a lvl 11 Hunter right now and cannot wait to unlock that bad boy and try it out.

Where did you pick up your best gun loot? I need a better primary weapon ASAP. Tips?

Bladedancer is fun as hell.. but honestly it's probably the worst of all the Supers. It's 100% useless for PvE bosses and the lack of health regen/armor makes it easy to die while you're running toward the enemy to kill them in PvP. Shotguns of course just own you. Cant tell you how many times I've traded kills with a shotgun user or that just flat out kill me before i can use my blade on them.
Yeah, I'm trying out bladedancer right now and I'm not a big fan for the exact reasons you listed. I much prefer golden gun.

I'm finding PVP to be a ton of fun (and I'm only at lvl 12 at the moment). Going into the game, I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but Control and the team deathmatch mode are great so far.

Edit: Although in one game that I won, I was the only person on my team to not get any loot whatsoever. Wasn't thrilled.

Does armor or weapons ever have any additional attributes when they are NOT uncommon or rare?

I kept getting items with levels restrictions that were WORSE than my starting gear and I kept thinking I was missing a stats somewhere. Armor that I had to be lvl 3-4 to use was worse than what I had at lvl 1 and it seemed weird.

Yup. I've yet to get either, grr!

Oh dude my lil level 12 Titan hasn't scoped anything better than Uncommon.

But I still love those so far. I'm like so impressed just by the little bonuses me evolving Uncommons get I can't even imagine what it's going to be like with higher rarity gear.

Can someone explain the story to me?

You start out fighting the Darkness then I don't know robots and oh shit space mercenaries but we gotta stop the robots and wait was there something about a darkness?

Did I understand it correctly?

The Traveller came to earth and kicked off some golden age. The good times came to an end and 'the darkness' arrived to ruin the fun. The Darkness' forces are apparently the fallen, vex, cabal, and hive. For some reason they all fight each other too. IDK. You are shooting stuff in the face, belly, or glowy bits because reasons.

That moment when the entire opposing team is capping a point and your Bladedancer is ready.

This shit and the abilities is why I don't like playing PvP. I wish there was a game mode that disabled abilities and where it's just the players and guns and the vehicles map permitting and that's it. I know there are going to be people who go "But without the abilities it wouldn't be interesting!" or "But then what's the point of classes in PvP!" No. Fuck that 1 hit kill bullshit.

Do them in order of level. "Level 2 story", "Level 3 story" etc.

DONT do this. Do the laurel missions together. Only deviate from that order to do side missions (without the laurels) if you need to up your level to do a laureled mission. If you just do them in order of level you're going to think the story is a jumbled disconnected mess.

What is a laureled mission exactly?? I've just been following the story by level.

I think either way it'll be a mess, might as well follow the level progression so the difficulty curve actually remains steady?

Enjoy it, the moon is sweet and everything after is too. Venus really reminds me of Metroid Prime, right down to the music.
I had no idea what to expect from Venus and I was pretty stunned. Such an unusual color palette, and
skyscrapers and cards, what?!
I actually felt a bit on the "immersed" side during the missions there.

Mars is more along the lines of what I expected it to look like, but I quickly forgot about all that because the Cabal are astoundingly fun to fight, near-perfect FPS enemy design found within them IMO.
How does the story make absolutely no sense, exactly?
I actually assume it does make sense, but I had an enormous amount of trouble paying attention to it and caring about it when I did.

I can seriously pick any Grimoire card out of my deck and have a 75% chance of getting something more compelling than any of the story narrative.

I played my first control match with my second character, a level two or three, with the default reward AR and got first on my team. I didn't even have double jump. The skills do not keep you from winning.

Score on right. Default titan armor dead on ground there.

So PVP kind of gone to crap.

I'm level 22 yet constantly get put with levels 5-8 vs a team of 18+. Matchmaking is worthless.

And everyone just runs around wth shotguns. Those things need a massive nerf.

Every now and then I'll get a balanced match, but they very rare. Also when I carry the team I get shit for it, some 0.4 K/D guy gets the items.

There a quit penalty in this game? Because I'm not putting up with this.

I noticed that as well. People are starting to run with shotguns and dominate. I dont have enough experience with them yet to say whether I think they need a change or not, but it's definitely becoming a thing.

I feel like 7 is how i feel about this game. It's fine. Overall a disappointment from creators of halo. Some of the design choices is just baffling and the last cutscene in fucking lame. I don't think i rolled my eyes so much since i had that demonic possession.
Totally will be playing this game for next couple of weeks...

On the map, some of the Story Missions have a Star, some of the Story Missions have a Laureled Star (see below)

The Laureled Missions work together to tell the story and you should probably only deviate from that order if you need to level up to make it to a story mission.

Ha, thanks, got it. I just had a blond moment and I'm not blond. Thanks for the photo.
