loot is supposed to reward you with things you need. in a PvP game, someone might have met the "requirements" for something while you may have not, which is why they may get something better than what you get.

in theory, this system is fine. the problem with it is that you either earn shit you don't need or something that's worse than what you already have, or you'll earn nothing at all. the rewards screen should never be empty IMO, especially after a strike. the latter is just unacceptable.

the RNG is fine, everyone gets loots eventually, less pressure to do your best all the time

I like it a lot, been top player in Clash a few times, and also at the bottom, equal rights, it's all good

This!! It also keeps people from quitting because they are not in the "money" slots 3/4 of the way through a match.

wait, a strike is not a guaranteed drop? didn't noticed it though

Very similar to the space combat mission in Halo Reach.

Such missed opportunities.

The space combat mission took up a decent chunk of the play time relative to everything else, and at least they kept having things that changed things up, like the Hornet sequence going from skyscraper to skyscraper.

I'll have some time in about 45-60 minutes. Cooking right now while trying to figure out what bounty to take.

Alright, send me a message over PSN when you are set.

@riskVSreward
We could use a third man, I want to do the Nightly Strike with Namikaze,
feel free to add me PSN: KurandoKojima

I think the description is pretty damn appropriate when you are playing a 3vs3 mode and the other 2 on your team quit after a minute or 2.

Guess what, joined a new game with different people. The exact same thing happens.
This MP community is looking to be just as shitty as the battlefield one as of late. :-/

I shouldn't have to tell you this but calling people retards for any reason is not acceptable in civilized, enlightened society. Hell, it's not even appropriate on Gaf!
I kid, I kid!

Any "review" of the game right now is unfinished. How can it be reviewed when many events etc. are still to come. The game only begins at 20. It's comparable to "reviewing" Diablo 3 without ever doing anything but completing the story. Silly really. I also find that for some reason the reviews for Destiny really count for a lot but any other time it's "ehh, who trusts reviewers?". Also. Destiny is huge, gotta get the clicks and get them now, who cares about accuracy and comprehensiveness, right?

Destiny has brought the haters out more than even Titanfall did and that's really saying something. I actually understood a lot of the Titanfall hate (microsoft hate) but I find the Destiny hate more puzzling also. I liked Titanfall for a few weeks and then my interest waned, I see Destiny having much longer legs, at least for me personally. I can't get enough.

Best thing you can do is game with people who like the game as well. Add me for Destiny love! PSN; Dienekes21

No, the reviews are finished, you review what you get out of the box. The game does not start at level 20, Destiny is not an MMO. Destiny starts at level 1, and then proceeds to be repetitive through every mission. The reviews around 6 and 7 are all accurate.

Any review now most certainly justified. The game does not start at 20, the only thing you get from hitting 20 is the chance to do the same stuff over again except you take less damage and the enemies take more. The game starts when you start it. New events are not going to change how the game plays, it will just give you more of what you are already doing in the areas you have already been. The only thing that has a chance to be different is the raid but I seriously doubt that it will bring much of anything new to the table. At least it will be in a new area.

There is not that much hate in the review thread. There is quite a bit of justified criticism towards the game. It is far from perfect. It is far from the best shooter. It is far from the best shooter that Bungie themselves have made. It is a huge step down in encounter design and enemy AI. The multiplayer is much worse. The story in the Halo games already wasn't anything special and this manages to be worse.

Ok, looks like you can't grind the public events. I just did 3 of the tank one on earth and only got 1 thing from the post master. (I went back after the first one then did 2 in a row). Wehre do the other Public Events spawn?

Actually it would be like reviewing Diablo 3 after playing everything that is in it at launch. Like reviewers are doing with Destiny. Like reviewers do with every single game in existence.

Any review that does not include the raid, which is apparently a pretty large hunk of the end game content, is incomplete. Which is fine - they can just review the portion of the game they played. It's not the full game, though, even as launched.

Favorite story moment. My guardian: "How can we find the awoken?"

Motherfucker, you ARE an awoken.

Ok, looks like you can't grind the public events. I just did 3 of the tank one on earth and only got 1 thing from the post master. (I went back after the first one then did 2 in a row). Wehre do the other Public Events spawn?
You can only get a gold reward once a day.

hmm I've encountered something like a minor public event I think, there was a small message that the opposing Vex and Fallen mobs are going to face each other, and out comes those mini-bosses with yellow health bars

This was in Venus

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU omg I loove salvage but goddamn I was owning sooo hard and got booted for some reason... :(

I find myself on the other side of the spectrum. I still think that the players at the top of the board should be much more likely to get legendary and exotic gear than those at the bottom. There would still be RNG ultimately deciding, but I've gotten really tired of earning 2nd/3rd place after a string of almost last place finishes, only to see the person below me get an epic legendary weapon. In a system that rewards better play, I'm actually encouraged to learn from mistakes and get better so I can earn the legendary gear.

As far as pressure to do your best, why is that a bad thing? I'm fairly competitive, and I always do what I can to win. This current system means that If I see my team is well on the way to winning, I can set down the controller, walk away and make some coffee, then come back at the results screen and have just as much chance at getting the best weapon possible as if I had single-handedly won the match by getting 100 kills without dying. This system probably had good intentions, but this system does not reward effort at all.

uh, it's hard not to get sucked into the negativity of the review thread

but I love the game!

People have been a little too eager to shit on this game since prior to release. They will diss this game but the very same people will be saying how great the next shooter is that does nothing different then this game. Except the next shooter won't have this skill system, classes, specials, or scope in any of its content.

It has been the oddest thing I've come across. But oh well. Game is providing tons of fun for me and I look down and see a shit ton I still have to do. Today is the first time I've seen someone show that the story missions get insane lv 28 difficulty settings. Can't wait to play these missions again with that sort of challenge.

I've run into 3 missions I did not like so far. The others have been very fun.

Wait, is the one your talking about the weekly nightfall strike cause if so, I'm not ready for that. I'm just level 24 right now.

Hawkian, say it with me. Hawkmoon. Hawk. Moon. H-A-W-K-M-O-O-N.

*whispers* Hawkmoon.
:D
;)

Sorry I meant the weekly heroic strike, the LvL 22 mission.
I'm Lvl 24 myself, so no Nightly for me as well, sorry about the confusion.

So i am doing the Vanguard Strikes on Mars and everybody keeps dropping out against the last boss. Jesus!
This happened to me.. Though I didn't drop out, I got booted the fuck out for some reason. Was pissed. Something at that last encounter must be causing it if it's happening to a lot of ppl. Thought it was on my end.

Just had my first 'reach out and press the power button' moment. As with the beta, enemies spawn too frequently in their dedicated spawn points. I scanned the first thingy on the 4th mission on Old Russia, and all the enemies I cleared out of the ship to get the spawned directly around me and I died.

New rule: if enemies can't be inserted into the game realistically (drop ships, spawning far away and then patrolling on foot to the location), they don't respawn. It was a problem in the beta I was hoping would be repaired for the full game.

Nope, you review what's there on day 1, that content there out of the box is Destiny. The reviews are complete.

As far as you are concerned, sure. It's a pretty traditional measure of what to review. As far as I'm concerned, no, reviewing part of the game isn't reviewing the game, especially when it IS end game content on disc - it's just unlocked one week after release.

I have found 3 legendary Engrams today. 2 of them were just rare crafting materials and the last one turned out to be a blue. I feel cheated.

I know your pain man. Fucking blue drops giving white items all day for me. Like whats the point of color coding the engram to look like a good drop when It can ultimately give you shit. Might as well just make every drop the same color and hope you get something good. When I see a purple ball fly, I want a goddamn legendary bitch! How can you screw that up? Diablo does it well with a nice bright orange beam and a cool sound so you know exactly when a legendary drops and you cant miss it.

Ok. I'll agree to disagree. Sorry you are not enjoying it. I would give it an 85 out of the box as is. I think that is a very fair legit score, I see the game entering the 90's within 3 months for me with additional content and surprises.

Destiny is the first game in a while that leaves me feeling like there is some magic or something still to discover in the game. It seems mysterious to me which is rare in the age of the internet. I like that.

Any review that does not include the raid, which is apparently a pretty large hunk of the end game content, is incomplete.

As much as I like the game, I feel this and other similar responses are being too defensive over Destiny's criticisms. Considering games are always reviewed with whatever content they're shipped with, I don't see why Destiny should be given a pass for any sort of delayed review.

The folks behind Destiny should be held accountable for the game's shortcomings. The flaws should be known regardless of if they're fixed in the future or not. Saying a review is incomplete without a raid is similar to games being reviewed before the first DLC pack that includes playable content is added being incomplete as well.

Just got to the archon priest and he other two dudes I was wih both dropped as he came out of he cell. What the fuuuuccckkk.....
