On the map/director screen, it's a small icon on the left side of the screen that gets unlocked when you hit 20.

I understand the frustration.. I really do. I've played tons of MMO's and Raided in most and waiting for RNG to FINALLY give you want you want/need can be beyond frustrating...

BUT... and this applies to everyone...

The game came out 4/5 days ago. You're going to get some bad rolls. That comes with all games where loot is a requirement for advancement. Patience is not only a virtue in this regard it's damn near a requirement.

My advice would be to focus on nailing down strats and trying to improve your personal and team play. That's going to be imperative in the long run and will help prevent you from yanking your hair out when you hit RNG dry spells. Well that and Alcohol, Nicotine, Caffeine, Coconut Water, Whatever is your "chill" of choice.

I feel like Engrams hurt more than others, since it double the randomness. First there's the roll to see what rarity of engram you get, and then there's another roll to see how it actually pans out. Much more chance for something to go wrong, especially since Legendary engrams seem to increase the level of randomness considerably. Plus, the excitement of getting what looks like a piece of rare or legendary gear makes it hurt that much more when it turns out to be fuckingnothing.gif.

I tried exploring and looking for dead ghosts, but having to deal with this UI system they have for the planets is so god damn annoying after awhile.

You're probably right in terms of the psychology of disappointment. The fact remains though the game has been out for less than a week and people are going to have to either focus on other things or adjust their expectations if they don't want to end up raging over truly random rolls.

Yeah, you want to use matching ammo colors; blue shield is vulnerable to Arc damage, etc.

Well I'm genuinely sorry that you feel that way. As another Gaffer suggested, perhaps it's burnout from hitting Destiny really hard really quickly. I've been in that situation with games that don't give out their Legendaries (typically the exotic equivalent) anywhere but in Raids and not had it drop for weeks. It's something that you have to get used to, to an extent. I mean, obviously not everyone will want to and some will choose to just stop playing instead and that's understandable. But that's the nature of RNG. Sometimes you get really long dry spells.

In this case though... within context of how long the game has been out and given your previous luck with getting Rares that did upgrade you.. you're not in that long of a dry spell at all. I'm not trying to come across as being mean. Just trying to be honest.

Ah. I'm not sure how many PS3 players we have so that might be a part of it. Though you should know that Destiny caps the amount of damage a player can do to enemies of lower levels. So even if a lvl 26 ran with you, aside from having a more complete build, they won't be running around 1-shotting everything. But your preferences are yours and that's fine. Hope you find a fireteam soon.

What does experience do post level 20?

Levels up your abilities. You still have a whole bunch to unlock after level 20, I was light level 25 by the time I maxed one class, but then you have a sub-class to go through too with just as many abilities to unlock again. Oh and it levels up your weapons and armor too.

And mic is definitely required it seems. The higher tier strikes are crazy. Knowing what the person is doing and how many second to revive is highly critical to a teams survival. Plus distraction and roles...without a party chat one is gnna get destroyed.
