Well I hit level 16 tonight, played about seven hours straight with the room mate.
The game has its flaws, I get that. There's a lot of things it can use improvements on. But I am TOTALLY fucking hooked, it's so much fun, I haven't enjoyed a game this much in a while. I think it's the kind of game a lot of people aren't used to so some might not enjoy it as much, but I think people who have played games like Phantasy Star like myself are feeling the same way I am. It's a really fun game.
Furthermore I'm not really worried about the game. Diablo 3 seems to be a big subject ITT and it's probably been said before, but that game was a total trainwreck when it came out. It's now highly regarded. Destiny is off to a much better start than D3
Honestly I'm gonna go ahead and buy the white PS4 bundle. I have it on 360 now but the game alone has convinced me to make the step into next gen.

Or, just color it to match the lowest possible outcome instead of the middle. Problem solved.

Oh, there was a crack in the wall I was supposed to go through. Usually when I go through spaces like that I face an invisible wall or a "Turn Back!" message. This game has trained me not to explore. :-\

Finally got my Exotic Sunbreaker Gauntlets after beating the level 26 Weekly Strike!!!
One exotic weapon and one exotic armor.
You also get more than 2-3 at later levels
I did not know this. Guess I won't be spending both my coins and my motes at the vendor tomorrow. Now I feel bad for not getting any legendary items...

Happened to me last night, the fact bosses are such bullet sponges makes it all the more frustrating

Starting to feel the lack of content complaints. Grinding the same half dozen strikes for 2-3 marks a pop when it takes 65 to buy anything worthwhile, nevermind that marks reset every week.

Vanguard marks reset every fucking week? No...no please tell me I haven't embarked upon a fools errand by playing this game.

I've seen fusion rifles and snipers used quite a bit. But you're right, auto-rifles are the go-to gun for everything but control.
You can get a max of 100 per week. Until the next week you can't get more. I'm pretty sure you don't lose the marks you've already accumulated.
Honestly, I love my hand cannon. Three shots to the face and you're dead. One shot anywhere with no shield and you're dead.

I run with the hand-cannon every once in awhile too. I feel it'd be a better secondary than primary. Auto-rifles are much easier to use and more forgiving for misses. thus why the vast majority of people use them. If you find the right hand cannon though(the one with a clip of four) it's two shots to the head.

I stand by every negative thing I've said about this game, but for some reason I'm still sitting here playing it, trying to get better gear. About to hit level 20. I'm just a sucker for this type of thing. I get sucked in.

Yeah, mine has a clip of 13 so I can spam it pretty well. I do only try and use it from afar and generally when enemies haven't noticed me. I almost always have a shotgun as a secondary though, so that wouldn't work for me.

The gunplay is so satisfying and delicious, it's definitely what keeps me in despite the shortcomings. That and loot upgrading is irresistibly enticing.

I got two in the same story mission on the Moon (although I was taking my time exploring^^). I thought it would be in like a big patch or something, but looks like they changed it server side. Same with loot drops and chests; mostly just commons at my level (10), but more often than they were popping up before
Heavy grinding of course.
In the last two days, I've experienced three public events during story missions. Most of my other playthroughs have been in the Crucible.
I just want to do them for the trophy, unless they reward good stuff!
Like a lot of things in the game, public event loot is hit or miss. Sometimes you probably won't get anything.

You can only play the weekly strike once for the coins and rep? I completed it and now when I hover over it, it doesn't say rep 150+ or anything. Thought that would have been the best way to get the coins.
the marks cap does. says it in the ingame tooltip.
so get 100 this week, cap resets next week and you get another 100

Getting one shotted by those things at medium range gets frustrating. They're definitely powerful, though I just can't stand weapons you have to charge.
