Wait for greens at cryptarch and buy the hell out of them, you can get lucky and get blues, or sometimes even purples - but the net result is your cryptarch rank improves, you get goodies for every level gained (postmaster) and some say that the higher your cryptarch rank the lower the chances of decoding blue engrams giving you junk/bad items.

May as well, right? it's not like tower has anything worth buying once you hit 20.

Finally upgrading Doctor Nope to a good degree. I am secretly loving this game. I haven't read any of the reviews yet, or really paid attention to what people are saying, but hot damn am I having a shit ton of fun.

Gather Vanguard Marks and Reputation to purchase the legendary Vanguard armor / weps.

Run the Daily Heroic missions for rares / legendary

Run the Vanguard Strikes with matchmaking. Get good amount of rares / chance for legendary items during the strike, afterward may get a good item upgrade depending on current gear set.

Gather those Strange Coins because there is a dude in the tower who sells Exotics / Legendary items.

I'm in the same boat. Mostly a soloist, at lv. 21

I also had that problem, when you are under leveled you do only 50% of the damage.
Well, I would like to do the Lvl 22 and Lvl 24 Vanguard strikes.
They give the most marks and reputation points.

Gaining exotic and legendary gear for other classes is one aspect of the loot grind I don't mind. It makes it much easier to decide to level up a new character when you already have high level weapons and gear waiting at Level 20.
