Dark Cybertron has a hardcover collecting all 12 issues.
The cover is lame
The regular TPB covers are cool though

This thread is too much.

Hmm. I'll probably have to get this. Worst case scenario, if I get cold feet I can resell it for a nice profit.

Consider it done. Will start right now.
It will be a tale of life, love, and loss.

Okay, well, as any good artist should do, I'm going to announce now that my four-panel comic about the Official Omnibus Reading Position will be delayed (because I want to read some comics). Probably delayed until tonight.

However, I will show you the current progress.

You guys gonna be blown away by the massive story twist that happens in panel 3.

Anyways, I think I'm gonna read the first volume of The Walking Dead that I got at the library. I'm sort of excited to see what it's like.

This...this is what I envisioned! Bravo!

Finally saw Cap Winter Soldier, rented the blu ray, really impressed by a lot of it. Some parts were iffy and i didn't reallllly like the
Three ships, gotta take em all, reminded me of the Matrix sequel, but that's not a huge knock, just that it seemed a bit formulaic

Much better than the first cap for me, which i know a lot of people liked, but was too close to Thor's "doofus stupidity" than an actual movie. Really hate those Thor movies...

Oh, right! I still need to see that movie.

I LOVE posts like this one! They always leave me thinking "well, I've got another hundred issues of stuff I want to read! Great! Also, overhwelming!" ;)

Needs some Zurr-en-arrh-style foreshadowing/mindfucking grafitti on the walls man. You have to put those Morrison teachings to good use!

Haha. Regarding your response to LiveFromKyoto's post, I feel the exact same way.

And lol. I suppose I could do that, but the walls of my house are fairly graffiti-free. This comic is meant to be as factual as possible. Everyone knows that being factual is a cornerstone of comics.

This...this is what I envisioned! Bravo!

Haha. I'm glad you're pleased with my progress!
I'm working on the last two panels now, but I'm not as pleased with these last two panels as I am with the first two, so hopefully I can figure out a way to change that.

Just finished the first volume of Bendis' Scarlet.
That was really great. I'm really surprised I haven't heard more about it. Has anyone else here read it?

Also, an hour and a half since my last post and there aren't any posts in-between? Come on ComicsGAF. Get it together.

I'm getting Scarlet in my next order. You think I will enjoy it?

I haven't read any comics since Wednesday...

Why does OT-GAF want a Civil War movie so bad? I don't get it

I read them a while ago actually. They were the first bunch of digital comics I purchased when I jumped on that bandwagon.

Also, it's Saturday, cold and overcast overcast outside....the best time to be reading comics.

Yeah! I think you'll really like it. It's a nice hardcover, too, by the way.

Traitor.

And yeah, I have no idea what everyone's obsession with Civil War is. I swear that's everyone's first thing to read on Marvel Unlimited too. It's an event from years back that isn't even really relevant to current comics and it was never even a good event in the first place. And tons of people are still choosing to read it. It baffles me.

The concept is interesting even if the execution was/is bad.

I don't bother with comic topics outside of here anymore.

I've read all my books, my Amazon books don't start coming til Monday, and my IST order isn't here til Friday.

I guess, uh, where to start with Swamp Thing? And is Forever Evil (the main Lex Luthor story) any good?

Ah nice! What'd you think about it?
Also, do you have any idea if more issues are going to come out someday? It seems that for one reason or another it just kind of stopped.
Like, the first volume only collects 1-5, but there are 8 issues now, right? Seems like they were anticipating more issues or else they'd just collect all 8 issues in the hardcover.

I've read all my books, my Amazon books don't start coming til Monday, and my IST order isn't here til Friday.

You've literally read every book you own?
I can't even imagine that.

If it makes you feel any better it was an adventure game/visual novel and not a buttonpressing game.

Something about events just suck in people who don't keep up with comics regularly. Maybe it's because Marvel pushes them so hard. I've seen too many people on GAF fall for Age of Ultron's web of lies :(

I mean, I guess the concept of having to register your superhero identity is interesting but I've never been particularly interested in seeing my favorite superheroes just start fighting over it.

I look at comic threads on GAF and posts from people who don't read comics on tumblr and it's a very interesting experience. I usually choose to not participate but it's just fascinating to see some of the replies they get.

Happy to help, however well the humour holds up, if nothing else Maguire's art is a joy to read and a master class in expression in cartooning. I've never seen anyone better.

I just read through all of Futures End to date...I was only going to check out an issue or two but once the story picks up it really gets addictive with the pace of the story and all the different threads, I couldn't stop getting more. I kind of like the portrayal of Grifter...first you see how creepy his role is, then he comes across as kind of helpless and pathetic next to Deathstroke, yet you're still somehow rooting for the guy. Also, the Stormwatch stuff is the most interesting since it was a Wildstorm book.

Yeah, the concept was awesome because it's the only logical position in the modern surveillance society we live in. It gives the heroes a reason to fight each other that's not just believable but seemingly inevitable. The event itself had no payoff, but Dark Reign that came right after and that year of New Avengers on the run was maybe the best status quo Marvel ever had. That felt like the real event to me.

Then they ended it with Siege, which was just a big dumb fight that only made sense if you read the Loki one shot where Gillen somehow made it all cool. Unfortunately Loki's deal was never brought up where anyone would read it.

Dark Reign started after Secret Invasion.

And while I admit that the last two Issues of Civil War were rushed, I really liked the overall story.

The biggest problem I had with it, that it is the Story were Spider-Man jumped the shark. After he demasked himself for the stupidest reason ever, a big Reconn was necessary.

Awesome. I'm very much looking forward to checking that out. I'll most definitely get volume 1 in my next IST order.

It's a small collection, twelve books, all of them purchased in the past month or so.

That sum is excluding my Bone books, which I've read countless times over the years.

Ah, gotcha. Just FYI, GoHastings is having a 25% off used books/comics sale right now. Buying used comics on GoHastings is a great way to bulk up your collection quickly and cheaply, which 1) gives you stuff to read, and 2) helps you figure out the kind of stuff you like without spending a whole lot.
Pretty much the only comics I bought in my first 3 months of being a comics reader were used comics from GoHastings. I bought a ton of comics for less than $3 each. Some pretty good ones, too.
Unfortunately they've raised the shipping prices since then, so you can't get as crazy of deals, but it's still worth checking out.

I'm not gonna be able to buy anything this weekend, but yeah, thanks for the recommendation, I'll look into this site in the future.

No problem. And they usually have a 25ish% off used items sale once every couple weeks, so you'll definitely have other opportunities.
And just as a little preview of the deals you can get:
V for Vendetta for $4.94 (and then 25% off that)
Greg Rucka's Whiteout for $1.71 (and then 25% off)
Chew vol. 1 for $4.99 (and then 25% off)

Shoot, that reminds me, I have all those digital books from the Humble Image Comics Bundle. I think I'll download a few of those right now. Thanks.

For Swamp Thing start with Alan Moore's run, it's collected in six volumes as Saga of the Swamp Thing.

999. I played it on my iPhone since it was on sale the other day. It was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend it if you're looking for something with an engaging story. Now I have to buy the sequel...

Lol, my digital backlog is terrible. I have a bunch of books from that, the BOOM bundle, and the Transformers bundle. I also have like six volumes of Empowered to go through too.

I wasn't a big fan of the Dark Cybertron crossover. I felt like it killed all the momentum MTMTE had built up. I also felt like it made Shockwave out to be a cackling supervillain rather than the cold calculating machine he's always been characterized.

I work :( I also work tomorrow during the Bengals game. The regular Sunday guy got tickets to see his Saints play up in Cleveland and me being the nice guy I am volunteered to work for him. I regret everything.

Sounds to me like dude owes you one so you can meet Skottie Young.
I'll probably live tweet the Bengals game, I typically do when I watch them at home.

.

I enjoyed it—it's a cool anti establishment kind of story. There are 7 issues and I don't know if it will ever continue—maybe if Bendis ever takes a break from the superhero stuff. I jumped on it because I enjoyed Alias.

I finished Brubaker/Fraction's Iron Fist. I really liked it, especially the first half. My favorite part was
Rand & Randall kicking ass together.
Aja's art felt perfect for this. So much so that reading the annual in it was off-putting, featured a disgusting mix of styles, like the frame story. Just pulls you out of the universe completely. I wish that run could've been Aja all the time.

Is it worth it to read the second part of the series? All I hear is that it's decent, but nothing more.

Now I'm going back to the Simonson Thor omnibus, left that in limbo months ago. Still have a big chuck left. Also been looking at Punisher a bit and I feel bad for not getting that Ennis omnibus when it was available.

Is Brubakers Iron Fist starting with Danny as Daredevil and he changes back to his oiriginal Identity in the first Issue of the series? Looking for months for this specific issue, but I cant remember which it was. I am not even sure who the writer was and if it really a Iron Fist book was...

Yes, it was printed at the end of this omnibus, it's called Civil War: Choosing Sides #1. It's only an 8-page story, part of that issue

Saga OHC vol 1 is half off at dcbs and half of my brain wants to order it because i like Saga generally and the other half reminds me that every time i buy an ongoing series in collected format before it ends, i regret it. Examples: Hawkeye, Daredevil, Fables, Invincible. I still like Invincible, but i do not want to keep buying OHCs for the rest of eternity.

Oh goodness. That annual was awful.
I'm sure the story was good, but because of the art, the story seemed really bad as well. That was the only bad part about that run though.

Also, how about that last issue? I loved that wrap-up issue so much. With Aja back and all of the heartwarming moments, that issue just made me so happy.

Yeah the story was pretty important, flipped back to some pages later. Worst issue of the bunch because of the art. This happened again in the 'Orson Randall and the Green Mist' issue, but to a lesser extent, some of the art there fit pretty well. But in general I hate issues that feature 4 or 5 artists that do a few pages each.

Wrap-up issue was pretty good yes. Really solid run this.

I am on an X-Men kick. Anyone know any good stories with my faves. Preferably that are in trades. I like Magik, Emma Frost, Rogue, Kitty, Jean (maybe I only like young Jean) and Iceman (the kid version of him slays me)

Messi just buy Uncanny X-Men Omni I&2 and X-Men Omni 1&2 and experience the best X-stories of all time.

Just read Kingdom Come for the first time. Holy shit, it was brilliant. Bruce was awesome.

It's a breathtaking book with some incredibly poignant moments.
