Destiny |OT2| The Last Guardians

At the end of my last mission - number four or five on Earth - the Ghost had a line that seemed important, like we'd found something (again). But there was again no follow up.

I'm honestly baffled. There's poor story telling, and there's no story telling. This is basically the latter.

Agreed. When you look at what a story is and what classifies as a story, I really don't think Destiny's thing can be called a story. There are essentially no characters, no big events, no revelations, nothing. There are maybe, maybe 15 minutes of cutscenes in which you never really understand anything because every other word is lore specific nonsense. Dinklage is the only one that seems to be experiencing a story. He is constantly learning things and having revelations about all these different factions and places, but they mean nothing to you at all, even if you go and read some of the Grimoire stuff. There really is no story whatsoever. It's a bummer because at the very least all the Halo games have some good characters, some good moments between those characters, and some great setpieces.

Why doesn't B load my guy on their site?

It's funny because my character is a female Awoken, but the story doesn't recognise or cover this.
Even when the game covers the Awoken and you meet the Queen.

Isn't it weird if you go back home, and some one speaks to you about it as if you are not from there.
.

Most likely perma.

Yeah I would hope so. Probably won't have time to try and run through that during the week, and at this pace I won't be 26 in time either.

Are the vanguard level 20 strikes better for higher level gear at all? I've gotten a shit ton of blues from PvP and farming the Nexus today, but they all are around level 16-17 and still don't even push me to 21.

I'm level 25 and haven't seen a single legendary. I have an exotic from the coin dealer though. Gonna get chest and pants once I rank up new monarchy from 1 to 2.

What the heck are these "warlock bonds"?

I just played for 5 hours and did not get ONE single blue drop to replace any part of my armor and get to level 22.

Meanwhile my two friends are getting legendary enegrams and awesome rare armor.

I hate this fucking bullshit.

Right. It's a series of events, seemingly unconnected from one another. There basically are no characters.

And beyond no story, there's no context for the non-story unfolding. Why are we dropped into the world at this particular moment? What is going on that is important for us to do at this point in our history? When we ask what we can do, the Speaker portentously tells us to go kill bad guys. That's it. That's our set up.

As far as I can tell, we're the bad guys. A pack of sociopathic dancing mutes, who go on periodic murderous rampages for the sparkly. Too high and mighty to mingle with the commoners so we have our own tower to peer down on the dirty poors. When we do wander out into the wild it's not for the better good but to find shiny objects to lord over. We're Guardians, but the only thing we're guarding is our loot.

6.25 k/d. two 10+ kill streaks

literally giving legendaries to my teammates

charity like this isn't even going on my taxes bungie y

There you go, you're doing what they always wanted. Make your own stories, because Bungie sure didn't. It's such a shame because there is some very cool sci-fi potential. The concept alone of a giant alien spaceship/monolith coming to earth and enlightening humanity is great. I genuinely want to know more about parts of the lore and I know Bungie has the answers, Halo's fiction is crazy deep. It'll be very interesting to see if they roll out new story missions in the coming weeks and months. I'd be ok with them slowly expanding the story and universe, but what's there right now is abismal. It's one of the worst "stories" I've experienced, which is genuinely surprising considering how much I've enjoyed all of Halo's stories.

Holshit..Destiny may have the best game story of all time.

So I started to read into the Vanguard stuff in the Grimoire cards. The information in these cards could have been used for some really good character-building side quests. smh.

I hate PvP but if I don't get something soon I'll play some to get some shit from there.

all you have to do is show up and you get shit lol

except if you're good. then apparently you're better just running with a faction because you're not going to get a damn thing

I agree here though I will reserve full judgement until I complete the story. It really feels as though the fact that they will continue to support this game for years and flesh it out further made them feel as though they had the license to skimp on the original content. What they need to realize is that many people will be disappointed to the point that they won't even touch the expanded content and could likely even trade this game in as soon as they've completed what's available here. You need to create a fulfilling, meaty portion of story in this release but leave the ending with a hook or nod to there being more to the story that will have us pining to find out what happens next. If this game didn't have a loot system, I'd wager most people would be done with this game REAL quick and have moved on already or within the next week.

There are certainly positive elements to this game and enough to keep me playing for a bit and possibly even grab the expanded content if it fleshes the game out further, but it really feels as though it's lacking in other areas which are magnified and so punctuated due to the massive hype and advertising. Regardless, I'm having fun for now and coop is always a blast. I just feel as though this game could have been so much more and I'm hoping that the expansions will make it so. This is without even mentioning how trash the PvP content is and the mess of balancing they'll have to fix. I feel a little bad about this criticizing post since I am enjoying the game right now but you know, real talk.

Just finished grinding Nexus for awhile. Both people I was with got 1 or 2 Legendary engrams but I got none :(

But I did manage to get a helmet that (once upgraded) will put me to level 23. And I also got a better Rocket Launcher and Scout Rifle, woooo

As a warlock, I feel that nova bomb doesn't really tack anyone when you split it into three projectiles. I haven't been able to get the projectiles to spread that much either. Anyone else? Is there a trick like being up high?

Alright.

So I have:

  • a level 20 human female Hunter.
a level 4 Awoken female Warlock.
a level 4 Exo female Titan.

I still love my Hunter the most.

But how are they gonna get people to visit their site and register and stuff?

I'm a Titan.

8 Legendary Engrams. 1 Warlock Legendary Helmet.

Exotic Chest Engram. Exotic Hunter Chest.

This is horseshit.

Put those in your Vault and when you decide to play the other classes, they'll be there for you to use.

Got disconnected in the middle of promising 2-man level 26 heroic strike. Looking to Nexus farm now. Level 24 here, any takers? PS4: SharkJAW

Yo I've been trying to like destiny, but is anyone else underwhelmed enough by this game, that they are looking forward to the halo collection?

Playing this (attempting to enjoy) in single player makes me want to buy an X1 for halo.

I was actually thinking that myself.

That's pretty much the same as me, except I haven't got an exotic engram yet. I don't even look forward to legendary engrams because of how awful they usually are. I've accepted the fact that I'm going to have to do bounties and other crap for marks to get what I want.
