Titanfall is actually fun to play, so that.

Titanfall GoTY confirmed.

Titanfall delivered on exactly what it promised, which is more than what could be said about WD & Destiny. The problem is that thr player base abandoned the game faster than anticipated.

None of them, watch dogs was the biggest disappointment to me.

It looked like it had a lot of promise but I couldn't even bring myself to finish it.

Titanfall could have definitely used more time in the oven but the gameplay delivered and was fun and innovative. I still play it once in a while.

I played Beta for Titanfall and Destiny, I own Watch Dogs on PS4 and PC.

My impressions were Destiny had the most potential, Titanfall had the best gameplay and Watch Dogs was just a bad game in every way.

I fired up Titanfall recently and was surprised to find an update. There's new Titan AI voices, insignias, performance improvements (PC), in game currency + marketplace, 8v8 pilots only, amongst other stuff.

I guess only the sequel will introduce new gameplay mechanics.

I don't get why people keep calling Destiny overhyped....The hype did not really exist until the beta that was litterally a few weeks ago??? I remember so many people saying how boring Destiny looks, based off gameplay, etc.

But anyways Destiny is the only I've managed to play consecutively since it released. I only played Titanfall for 3-4 days, and I didn't get far in Watch Dogs either. Of the 3 you mentioned, I've enjoyed Destiny the most.

yeah there was no hype. its not like there were 3 different destiny threads constantly on the first page, a "withdrawal" thread and it's not like it made over $500 million on release.

Titanfall easily delivered. Although I did enjoy WD. Destiny just has not been as fun as TF and WD. Its like a chore so far. Hopefully Bungie can tweak some things.

Exactly, the hype was almost non existent. Then people played the beta and found themselves enjoying it a lot more than they thought they would. That's all that happened.

I'd hardly call it nonexistant, but I agree that it was after the beta that it really hit a fever pitch.

That's probably why the disappointment was so much more palpable compared to the other two. It wasn't an exclusive and millions of people got a chance to try it themselves--and loved it. Thus people put more faith in the game than Respawn or Ubisoft ever got.

Bought all three day one.

Titanfall delivered from and I had fun with it. Watch Dogs was thoroughly meh. Destiny is greatly disappointing.

Publisher uses Marketing
It is super effective!!
Audience expectation has increased.
Audience hype has increased.

Publisher releases game.
It has no effect.
Publisher flees
You lost $60

Heeheehee

But seriously though, stop buying into the hype machine.

I honestly think Watch Dogs was fun and consistent.
Titanfall was meh
Destiny seems like the most disappointing because it has been hyped as THE next gen and it just isn't.

Watch_Dogs is probably the biggest letdown. You know it's a letdown when its one defining feature (hacking) gets old before you're halfway done with the game. Sequel will probably be dope, though.

Titanfall and Destiny will die with the servers one day. Maybe it`s just me, but I therefore consider Watch Dogs to be the best value for my money, but the downgraded graphics, poor story and mediocre gameplay didn`t live up to the hype at all.

Destiny and Titanfall are not the best, but they are still very fun. All 3 were overhyped and as a result didn't achieve, but none of them are bad at all. They're all quite good really.

None of them. This is why im not hyped for The Division, The Crew or Assassins Creed.

UbiSoft be damned.

This is a hard question to answer. If you bought one these games and had a lot of fun with it than yes(?) it justified the hype, but if you enjoyed the game but was disappointed with some aspects of the game than it only kinda lived up to the hype, but if you got one of these games and hated it because it wasn't what you thought it was than no they didn't live up to the hype.

I think Destiny delivered / will deliver more than the other two. Titanfall and Watch Dogs are done already, WD is getting some more DLC but that's it. Destiny is just getting started.

Titanfall.

For the time you play of it, it's incredible. Gameplay, graphics, sound. None of those are an issue. It's the longevity of the title that is broken. Too few guns, too few perks, too little customization, too little reason to play well.

If Respawn worked on the longevity of the game, rather than just new map after new map, the game would be better off. We all shit on Call of Duty, but there is enough just in the multiplayer to keep you busy for months.

The game Ubisoft brought to E3 2012 was not the Watch Dogs game we got. They lied about the graphics, and should suffer the same fate as Sega and Gearbox for what they did with Aliens Colonial Marines because of that.

What would we do without the grafix!

I only played Titanfall on 360 and I really liked it, but it lacks content and therefore longevity.
The new mechanics are cool for a few hours and then your just sad that there isn't more.

I haven't played Watchdogs. I wanted to buy it but didn't because many people said its not good.

I played Destiny for about 15 hours now(22hours in alpha and beta) and I'm hooked.
The gunplay is great, the world is amazing and getting better gear is just a lot of fun.
But all the criticism this game gets is valid.
No real story, the world isn't big, mission design is horrible.
So yeah, Bungie really overpromised in that regard and its sad because this games could have been so much more, but its still a really great game. By far my favorite of the here discussed.
I think the mediocre review scores are partially because people expected so much more of this game, not because its actually bad.

What would we do without the grafix!

That's what the game was sold on. And based on the resale value of the game, people weren't happy with what they got.

The PS4 version looked decidedly unimpressive. The GTA V Remaster coming out very soon will further cement Watch_Dogs place in history.

I played Watch Dogs and the Destiny beta, both were disappointing to me but Watch_Dogs was less disappointing when it's compared to its concept.

From everyone I spoke to about it, Titanfall was great but failed in having content for longevity (and to some, a weak variety of gameplay compared to other FPSs). I don't have a XB1, but from the sound of it, they all were satisfied with what they played, just wanted more out of the box.
Watch Dogs was a mess before launch, because the first reveal gave hopes that the game would be so much more than what it was. Repitition and boredom kicked in fast.
Destiny's beta turned me off of the game and so far the reviews are re-iterating everything that turned me away from it. But with that being said, I feel that Destiny's "overhype" came more from people who loved the beta rather than marketing. I don't know if I'd say it was unjustified hype in terms of marketing, considering everyone on my friends list owns it and is constantly playing/(I'd assume) enjoying it.

I haven't played any of them, so this is based solely on what I've read from others and reviews. I have no personal investment in any of them and don't plan to play any of them, so I think my perspective is unbiased in that sense.

Titanfall:
It seems like the problems people have with Titanfall are related to simply wanting more of what players already love about it. It didn't promise a story, characters or a huge world, just great gameplay. The general consensus is that it delivered, even if it didn't turn out to be as earth-shattering as it was hyped up to be (largely by the game media, if we're being honest).

Watch_Dogs: It seems like the hype had all but died down by the time the game came out. Aside from the graphics controversy, it more or less delivered what it promised on: an open-world game with hacking elements. Aiden and even the story was never prominent in the marketing or hype, and unsurprisingly those seem to be the weakest elements of the game, along with being the world somewhat generic and uninteresting compared to GTA5.

Destiny:
Of the three, Destiny seems to have most underdelivered on what it promised, or at least what Bungie consistently hinted at. As with Titanfall, people seem to enjoy the core gameplay, but the promises of a much larger world, story and in general a vast, epic experience thus far seem to have been unfulfilled.

So from the perspective of a relative outsider, it seems like all three were disappointing to some degrees, but I think Titanfall came the closest to delivering on its pre-release promises and hype.

That's what the game was sold on. And based on the resale value of the game, people weren't happy with what they got.

The game was not sold on graphics, it was marketed for its gameplay. But as always players took what was shown and focused on the graphics

Not to mention that when they did release a tech trailer a week or two before launch people were all like "this looks good" now its "unimpressive"

Titanfall's gameplay/gunplay delivered in spades.

It plays better than anything out there including CoD and Halo and I'm a HUGE Halo fan.

Watch Dogs didn't deliver graphically but I found the gameplay really enjoyable. some of the best stealth/gunplay I've seen in an open world.

Destiny and Titanfall (still) are just lacking in content.

Destiny has definitely delivered for me. Titanfall was good but the lack of real depth and single player kinda killed it. Watchdogs was enjoyable enough, but nothing special.

Yes, that wonderful Ubiworld, generic-ass fill-up-the-bar gameplay. People can't get enough of that shit, it seems.

Watch_Dogs' daytime lighting was absolutely atrocious. I could never call a game that looks like that impressive. The character models were pretty boring, too. Watch_Dogs was hardly a visual showcase for the new generation.

In the end, it will be remembered not for what it was, but what it could have been, and that's really all it deserves.

None of them. This is why im not hyped for The Division, The Crew or Assassins Creed.

The Division has a lot more going for it than Destiny ever did. One look at a gameplay trailer can tell you that The Division is a much deeper game than Destiny. It's exclusively on next-gen platforms, which will help from a technical standpoint. The Division also seems to be putting more of a focus on tactical gameplay. Massive doesn't have the celebrity of Bungie since they have been PC-exclusive until now, but they are a very talented group.

Personally I loved all three. Not to say that they are perfect games but all three were game changers.

Titanfall has changed COD for this year and made it a game I am actually interested in. BF4's final DLC looks to have inspiration from it as well.

watch_dogs put a large spin on MP in sandbox games and made a title where killing randoms and friendlies is discouraged. I appreciate both the changes and the theme of the open world.

Destiny combines FPS and RPGs much like Borderlands but it throws in a dash of MMO. I cannot wait to see how Bungie progresses this title and its impact on gaming in general.

Destiny has been excellent imo.

Watchdogs was passable but suffered from the usual Ubi pitfalls and got old fast.

Titanfall was just a snoozefest. Lost all interest within a fortnight, have had no urge to play again since.

Titanfall. It delivered exactly what it said it was going to be, which was COD with Mechs.

The other two games seemed to have greater ambitions. Which turned out to be a joke. "Press X to hack" ad infinitum was probably not what people thought they were going to get with Watch Dogs.

Destiny gave vague promises of being something amazing, a leap beyond Halo. It turned out to be... Borderlands, but without the charm. It was somewhat of an FPS, but without a good story or interesting NPCs or engaging missions or much of a competitive PvP suite. It was somewhat of an MMO, but without the breadth of content and social interaction and huge expansive world to explore.

Seems like the Metacritic scores speak for themselves. I guess everyone expected these to get 9's and 10's across the board?

Titanfall - Damn fun, scores reflect the lack of content no?

Watch Dogs - Reviewed well. Honestly, I think it's a really good game, enjoyed it quite a bit, especially the hacking and stealth. The graphics are what mostly disappoints imo, but PC is better.

Destiny - Judging by the disappointment being echoed everywhere, it seems they over-hyped this one too much. Have yet yo play anything outside the Beta, which I thoroughly enjoyed though.
