These Hellboy Library Editions have left me speechless. These things are treasures. I just want to rub myself all over the covers all day. So damn fuzzy.

Comics are the only medium where your top shelf books are on the bottom, out of the fear that they may collapse the weaker shelves.

:( If volume 4 doesn't pop up for me on IST soon, I think it'll finally be time for me to email them.

Also, I ordered the complete Justice League TV show box set from Amazon and it's been "out for delivery" all day, and it's getting pretty darn late now. Bleh, it's probably not coming today I'd have to imagine, so now I guess I'll just have to get all grumpy at Lasership for getting my hopes up and failing to follow through.

This is absolutely true. But holy shit, too many tpb's are no good either. They're nothing but paper. At least the covers themselves on the hardbacks are light and put some space between volumes. Only shit I put on the top shelf is manga.

What EXTREME comics should I order to read with my Surge? I was thinking a little Spawn since I haven't read it. Maybe some Heroes Reborn? Extreme Thor? Hope Teen Tony has a collection.....

I have a confession. Crossed has always been pretty far outside my wheelhouse, but I've always been curious. This new Crossed +100 series with Alan Moore writing is too tempting to pass up.

Bro. Surge. Spawn Omnibus. Sega. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Do it.

You've gotta be a complete badass to have manga + comics. All 30-whatever volumes of Berserk is like an entire shelf by itself.

I don't understand where the blood is coming from.

You don't have to accept it, you just have to embrace it.

Also I'm in the middle of reading a book I think you might like (maybe others in comicgaf too). It's called Ex-Heroes by Peter Clines. It's basically about a bunch of Super Heroes trying to keep a small band of humans alive during a zombie apocalypse. There's blatant analogs too, there's a take on Iron Man, Etrigan, Batman, and some others. It's alright, not amazing but still entertaining. I picked it up cause his other book Fourteen was amazing.

Anyone collecting the Fantagraphics' Donald Duck hardcovers? I was looking to buy volume 1 but it seems to also be listed as volume 6 on a few websites? I am a bit confused.

Make sure you post impressions once you've finished it. It's been on my amazon wishlist for a while. I actually really like novels based in the superhero genre. Its a nice change from super hero comics.

I looked into them a bit back but haven't pulled the trigger yet, but as far as I can tell what's happening is they'll all be released eventually, but they're not actually putting them out in order.

Spawn. Early spawn is kind of fun. How about prophet? Stephen Platt!

Ooh how about shadow hawk? Maybe not extreme enough but other early image titles you've got cyber force, savage dragon, wildcats, the Pitt, storm watch, etc

I finished Wonder Woman New 52 Volumes 1 and 2 this weekend.

Better than I expected. Lots of stuff dealing with
greek mythology, of which I know very little.
Lots of interested characters, including
Mr. Stoneface and the surprising traitor Hermes
. Speaking of, that twist at the end of the 2nd book left me legit shook for a minute.

By the way, the character design was fantastic. I absolutely loved the look of several characters.
Hades was awesome. A child with candles burning on the top of his dome was so damn cool to look at. Absolutely loved the look of him. And the fact that he pretty much acted like a childish dick at all times was pretty cool too. Poseidon was coolish. A giant fish creature was different than what I expected. Apollo/Artemis were cool. Hephaestus was cool. His wife looked hot, from what I saw.

Overall, like I said, a lot better than expected. It's not something I'll actively look toward but I'll read them whenever my gf buys 'em.

Now, on to the last TPB in my backlog, Uncanny X-Force The Complete Collection Vol 1. So excited.

I boxed up Berserk until they start releasing that shit in America again. 37 manga volumes takes up some serious space. On that bookcase, I've got Gundam Origin, Flowers of Evil, Bride's Story, Sankarea, Monster Musume and Pluto. I have Claymore and Yotsuba! on a different bookcase.

...What the hell, Lasership? Amazon now says they "attempted delivery" a half hour ago, but I see nothing at the door and they definitely didn't try to knock/ring the bell. I better not actually have to get in contact with them. Ugh.

Edit: I am seriously going to have to take pictures of my current massive all consuming collection of manga, because the idea of 30 volumes being a lot seems borderline silly to me when I've got like 2000 of the things. Double booked shelves everywhere, plus I've had to resort to putting stuff in storage containers lately. I'm literally drowning in books here!

Gundam Origin books are so fantastic. I honestly think ComicGAF should take a look at those.

Oh yea new MU comic day. I'm loving this service now that the gap between when I stopped buying comics and MU has closed. 6 new issues to read. This week. Welcome back daredevil!

I could have sworn that Rosario + Vampire has a collection like Origins. Or maybe it was Vampire Bund (weird). I just remember it being near origins at. B&N when I got them.

I love Rosario, and I think Messi would too.

Did anyone else order from the Top Shelf sale? Have y'all recieved an update on your order or anything?

On IST? When I got my email from them after sounding like a crazy person they more or less told me they sell through books they don't have and wait for a new shipment. I had go wait a complete month before my books got processed.

Yeah, it was Dance in the Vampire Bund. Have an interest in loli vampires, do you?

But a lot of manga series are getting to omnibus phase. I'm tempted to get the Battle Angel Alita ones.

No, this is straight from the publisher. Made an order about a week back and haven't received any notification, I'll probably shoot them an email tomorrow.

Getting ready to read Translucid #1-5 for the last issue this wendesday :).
Pretty excited to re-read this. Its been very good so far,, and them damn colors.

( first book is a C2E2 #1)

Love those covers. Also, you have very straight feet.

morning glories, man wtf. need to go ly down

I dropped it a few issues back, finally. Love the art, but the story? I can't I can't I just can't.

I hated what little i read of Crossed (first two issues or so). I will end up checking this out though. Whats the last good thing Moore did?

Some omnibus editions for manga are very nice, but some are definitely also the cheap option. In Viz alone there's a huge, huge gap in quality between the VizBig stuff (which are quite nice, love my DB/Z collection) and Viz 3-in-1 stuff (which are pretty crap, with particularly cheap paper for the most part from what I felt). But there's definitely something great about manga in hardcover. I've got Ayako from Vertical sitting in a very proud position on my shelf, and I'm still kind of bummed Tokyopop never finished their "Ultimate Editions" for Fruits Basket. And on a similar topic, I've absolutely fallen in love with the Bunkoban format for import manga. A little smaller, a good bit thicker, but with some real nice paper that always makes it pop!

Also, kind of pissed at Lasership. The Amazon tracking updated to "Delivery Attempted: Not Home." I was anticipating that dumb package all day, and at the time listed my hearing was 100% unimpaired, plus I have dogs in the house that would've barked if anyone got nearby (especially with a delivery vehicle), and they didn't leave any kind of notice near the house (and it was too cheap of a package to need a sign anyway!). I'm guessing the driver was running behind and just BS'd it rather than coming over my way, but either way I sent them a grumpy message. It probably won't matter and I'll (hopefully) get the package tomorrow anyway, but it still definitely annoys me quite a bit.

Ok, really odd question...
How do you tell second/third etc...printings these days?
DC and so forth?
It used to be easy, look at the credits page and it would say.

I noticed on a couple of random marvel issues I've bought that it's on the cover. It'll say it in the bottom right or left corner what printing it is.

It does sound interesting. Badlands got boring pretty quick so I haven't checked out Crossed in awhile. A future setting would give it more of a sci-fi post apocalyptic vibe.

Seeing that Gabriel Andrade is doing the art suggest it will be heavy with the gore horror. Ferals made me go wow.
