DriveClub Being Streamed Early by Twitch User

Yea but i think the silence may hurt first impressions of the game.
Maybe they will instead be blown away by the amazing sound design. Something something the sound of the engine is the games music something something ambiance. Personally, I'll play the starting race and maybe the first set of challenges without music then turn it on if it doesn't immeadiatelly click with me. Also, that problem could probably be remedied with a nice little prompt that tells you how to enable music if you so choose at the end of your first race. I don't think anyone is going to start the game, say "wtf no music?!", exit the game then delete the game.

I'm assuming he's using some drive assists? He made some giant mistakes several times but the game was extremely generous in not having him spin out of control and he barely lost speed when he rammed the side rails multiple times.

There are no configurable drive assists (other than if you use a steering wheel). With regard to how generous the game is, I'm going to have to pay more attention to the video before I can comment.

The only worry I have about the game's visuals is image quality. I have not seen one indication yet that the game has great image quality. I played the Forza Horizon 2 demo a little bit ago, and while the graphics aren't absolutely incredible or anything, the image quality is FANTASTIC, which means a lot to me.

I generally enjoy music in racing games, so the silent default is odd, but w/e it's a few clicks to remedy.

Played a few hours of FH2 tonight, and while I think that looks great, this looks INCREDIBLE. Watching him play from the hood cam made me realize I don't think there were headlights reflected in on the cars while I was playing FH2.

The good news is that they seem to be two different types of racing games, so different people should be able to enjoy them for different reasons.

Look at most all of the sharper turns in that track. The streamer hits the side pretty much every time. This instance in particular, he recovers nearly instantaneously. He also collides with the other drivers frequently but barely loses speed, feels like he's hitting pillows.

The generous physics are especially obvious in this part, especially where he's nearly perpendicular to the rail but still glides along at a pretty high speed, and again manages to recover stability nearly instantaneously. He only restarted by pure choice.

Joke right? The jaggies on foliage and other cars are so visible, its impossible to miss.

I know i shouldnt be doing this but for people who think DC look sterile of course it does it is racetrack game. Well if you want to get some thing more wild Evo made some thing previous gen you should all get it

This is a deal breaker for me, it's one of my major issues with driving games and I was hoping next gen would tackle it. Apparently not.

Here. Tons of stuff about Driveclubs framerate, anti-aliasing, pop-in, ect. Don't know what Forza has to do with anything but if this doesn't answer your questions, there's plenty of Direct Feed and HQ Off Screen Footage I can find if you want.

What Forza has to do with it is that it has great image quality and it made me think about how we haven't really seen any real indication whether this game does, too. What we haven't seen is any really high quality videos of Driveclub that gives a clear impression. I've watched pretty much all the gameplay out there of Driveclub. Same with screenshots. I'd love to see some uncompressed direct feed screenshots of the game.

There's this subtle warping effect on the look of the cars when they get up close to the camera. Not sure what it is, but it's there. It's like you're going at hyperspace and everything looks at an odd proportion.

From PShare, so still some compression, but the image quality is fine.

How do you define IQ versus graphics? I played it as well, and I wasn't overly impressed. It's looks good, but it's nothing to write home about (model/rendered vehicles look great, as they should). I'm waiting for DC (Project CARS) to set the bar.

Agreed. I can already tell the IQ is superior in DC compared to FH2. I wish I could post a FH2 screenshot, but I just found out that Microsoft hasn't added the Screenshot feature to the XB1 yet...go figure.

IQ only refers to quality of the image displayed on the screen. So clarity, sharpness, aliasing/antialiasing. It has nothing to do with lighting, model detail, or anything like that.

Found 5 minutes here. Grab it while you can!

My God this game is a technical marvel. I have never seen graphics like these. They really need to do a new MS with this engine. I think they will match that original MS target.

Hope they hit the sales, don't want them to be closed by Sony.

It does seem pretty generous. But that's expected of a sim-cade racer, no? I think it requires hands on time to really determine if it feels right. From all previews I've read so far, it does sound like it feels right, if not realistic.

It looks really bad.

The textures lack detail.

The car models look rough.

Even the environments look messy.

I hope they can up the resolution.

It just looks so blocky right now.

Don't know if to take you seriously? Your watching a low quality stream. It isn't going to show the game in all its glory now is it?

This puts your posts in the FH2 thread in the right light.

That's garbage. I'll be critical of it, I don't care. When I played the demo earlier this year I was looking forward to messing with the assists. If they don't fix this I'm definitely passing.

It's not a sim racer. Chances are that they will never 'fix' this.

Driveclub threads are fucking annoying. Can we not have one where it doesn't poop itself when the afterglow of the gameplay gifs wear off?

I'm gonna go watch a Boxxy video so I can stop being so annoyed and then go to sleep. G'night GAF.

You can't fix something that's not broken, btw.

I guess arcade games would tend to only really have assists of the racing line and auto braking. They don't need ABS or traction control stuff because they're games where you can floor it without wheel spinning for half a mile and slam the brakes without fear. You will still wheel spin and lock up but not to the point where you need help to keep it under control.

So if someone is going to pass on a game because they can't toggle auto braking I'd say they're probably not that interested in the game anyway.

Yeah I don't think it's everyone's cup of tea. Many have misconstrued the game to be a sim racer just because it looks realistic.

Is it confirmed there's auto braking in the game?

Sucks major donkey balls if true, but I won't be missing the game beacuse of it.

I really fucking hope not....

That would be majorly off-putting for me. Why the fuck would that be enabled with no option to disable it? Please don't be true.

From there, just thought to be sure.
