So all games now should be open world or bust?
Really, you took this post serious? *sigh*
So all games now should be open world or bust?
Its a metaphor...
For fuck sake, it would seems it's literally impossible to have a DC thread not get shitted up with comment about framerate or comparisons to other (dis-similar) racing games, or talks about "delays" or crying about how the PS+ versions isn't the entire-full-complete game.
I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I went into the Forza Horizon 2 Demo OT and saw nothing but open (positive) discussion about the game... no one was in there saying "this looks graphically inferior to DC" or "the physics are too arcade" or, "Xbone".....
I guess it's too much to ask for a DC thread to have a similar level-headed dialog?
I'm surprised no one has compared Driveclub to Destiny at this point.
Now I have to know, do you try going off the tracks to "explore" for every single circuit racer you play? Do have any idea how asinine you sound right now?
So we both share the "glory" and I am forever in your debt, obviously.
If folks just stopped repeating the same joke/counter over and over again and ignored the drive-by posters these threads will actually become enjoyable to read.DC threads are too much....
Shit, and I thought it meant DC had really clean corridors.
Pfft. No clean corridors, no buy.
Sterile corridor racer running at 30 FPS that isn't free.
Err an adjective such as sterile can have more meanings than just clean. And you're thinking of sterilized when you describe clean
Well that would be one true next generation feature i guess, something that clearly cant be done on last gen. ATM fh2 and dc and 90% of the games this tear are games that could have easily been done on last gen minus the graphics of course.
Im not saying every type of game NEEDS open world
/s
Do I need to put it in?
I think it's fair to say Driveclub is offering a very standard track based racing with great graphics. I don't think criticisms of that fact are unwarranted. It just comes off as a very uninspired product. It's main bullet point feature is that it's a "team based racing game", with challenges interweaved. In this day and age those sound like features you'd just expect to be in a game of this type, with other bigger features being the headliner.
Leaving FH2 completely out of this, I think it's fair to say Driveclub is offering a very standard track based racing with great graphics. I don't think criticisms of that fact are unwarranted. It just comes off as a very uninspired product.
Didn't they say that some of the trailers were made purely with the game's own replay mode tools (by the same person who did PGR trailers). I remember reading something like that.Well, thanks for taking the time to reply seriously with a post that actually contributes positively, man. Guess I was hoping that there would be more to know about player customization and progression. Have they revealed a look at a replay feature and its functions? For a game that values its looks quite highly, I would think they would do more than just let people stream and capture clips.
This really should be the OT title. Maybe add "with no weather at launch".
Uninspired in that it doesn't allow for traversal off tracks? Will I have to wade through
this pointless complaint for every circuit racer from this point onward?
I meant that one true bottleneck for hardware is open worldness. Wouldnt you agree that GTA V with its massive map and detail and AI and physics and what not would have be seriously compromised if it were to run on a PS2?What does this mean? If you take graphics out of the equation, what games could not have been done on an N64 or PS1? Hell, the original Final Fantasy on the NES was open world.
Are we all going to start crapping on NASCAR because its a corridor racer?

Of course you don't. What is an "inspired" product? Does taking standard racing elements and getting rid of the track inspire it? I bought Fuel and Test Drive Unlimited 2, both sucked ass. Are they inspired? The bottom line is both DC and FH2 are exclusives which makes this a proxy for the console war, despite hiding behind rationalizations like calling a game uninspired for keeping the cars on a roads.
Well you proceed to ask him to be more constructive than saying "its sterile" and the you use sarcasm, which is opposite to constructive and doesn't develop your argument further.
For what he meant by sterile, its the inability to produce fruit/offspring. What is the fruit of gaming you might ask? Well, fun, joy, time well wasted/spent, impressiveness/ satisfaction, etc.
Looks blurry.New screenshot of DriveClub
According to these posters, driving on tracks is an outdated design choice.

That's not what he said. He said uninspired as in no defining feature. "Just" a circuit racer.
Right so what headliner features should it be having then?
Looks like Mario Kart.

I did somehow. I said that after timer is up, you're put back in the corridor.WTF who came up with the term Corridor Racer? Did this term come up because someone really doesn't like DriveClub? I mean have people not played GT series or the older Need for Speed games?!
Seriously, if you want a track racer this is the game to get for the PS4 this year. My god... some people...
I would buy a Wii U to see a Mario Kart with an Overlook hotel level where one of the hazards was gallons of blood pouring out of a lift and scary twins.
Sir. I would never ask someone to be constructive on a forum thread that invented the term 'corridor racing', got me into a conversation about the grammar of 'shit' and made me aware of the concept if auto braking in racing games.
Tush and fie at you, sir. Take back your comment, sir, and take this arboreal protrusion the body of which is covered in the faecal matter of dogs with it!
(It wasn't me who asked him to expand on it btw)

Sure it is.
I'd like to know as well. What headliner features should the spiritual successor to PGR have?
New screenshot of DriveClub
okay...what other racing games that are circuit based racers can you get for the PS4?
