The issue was that the PS2 and PS3 are both very different to a PC and so porting the games would require a fair bit if effort on Squeenix's port, but with the upcoming streaming service, Squeenix has incentive -- the alternative to porting the games to the PC would be to literally use PS3s as servers, as Sony is doing with PS Now, which is far from ideal.
