So how is Brave Dungeon? Never heard of it before seeing in the Recently added page. Dungeon RPG + Switch is definitely interesting to me, and the price is very tempting. Is it any good?

Maybe I'm in the minority but I really like some of the icons without titles, like Pankapu and Sonic Mania. You get the title when you highlight the game on the system menu, so I don't know what the big deal is.

Anyone have recommendations for this huge week? Is there a good place to go for reliable reviews of everything coming out? Feeling overwhelmed by the Switch goodness lately!

I just gave the BUTCHER demo a shot (http://www.indiedb.com/games/butcher/downloads) and had a lot of fun with it! Reminds me of the good old PC days, kind of like ABUSE crossed with BRUTAL DOOM.

I've been relying on YouTubers for first take impressions because other outlets seem underwhelmed given the abundance of indie titles flooding the system.

I was expecting Sine Mora EX to be an insta-buy but for some reason Switch reviewers seem much more subdued about it compared with the folks who graded the recent Xbox One and PS4 releases despite citing that it's a perfectly competent port.

Zonic

Gives all the fucks
*sees Mighty Gunvolt Burst DLC* Oh cool!

*no free promo like with Ekoro or with the Master Blaster Zero characters* Oh well....

So how is Brave Dungeon? Never heard of it before seeing in the Recently added page. Dungeon RPG + Switch is definitely interesting to me, and the price is very tempting. Is it any good?

It's basic but pretty fun. You run around dungeons fighting monsters, collecting materials/currency, and opening doors so you can skip all the walking and fights when you come through later. The enemies start getting way more powerful once you reach the second floor of a dungeon though (or sometimes even at the first floor's boss) so you're meant to continually go back to town to raise your stats and buy/craft items to help you survive.

The Dark Witch's Story: COMBAT half of the game is kind of terrible though, it's an auto-battle card game that's entirely based around luck and grinding as far as I can tell. It has no connection to Brave Dungeon outside of reusing assets though so it's easily skipped if you don't like it.

I vaguely recall among the shmup community it wasn't considered that good so that might be part of it. Not necessarily that it was bad outright iirc, but more of a different strokes for different folks kinda thing. Course maybe there is something up with the port but I haven't really followed it.

I only got through a few level of Sine Mora back in its first round, and wasn't particularly impressed. Not bad, but wasn't very interesting to me either. I don't feel like buying it again here.

Why this released in this state? Well, I'll be candid; we should have tested it more. It's the same build we've used for all platforms and we we're fools for assuming since it works well on X it'll work fine on Y. When we did test it it seems we would beat the levels around day 20 to 30 with a much leaner kingdom, or others were so bad at the game they failed much sooner. We also never tested playing from an SD card. This lead to us not hitting the more game breaking FPS during testing.

We've learned a valuable lesson from this and won't repeat this mistake again. Also, we're working on a patch for the game and Nintendo has given us a priority for their compatibility testing. Our goal is to get it to them by Friday, but it could slip a day or two if we find more critical issues.

And since I was the one leading this I personally apologize to everyone this has affected for not catching before release and I will do my best to ensure we fix it and not make this mistake again.

About the sorry state of Kingdom. It baffles me that there are gamedevs who don't know you have to properly test a game on the platform you're putting it on. There is so much information out there about gamedev troubles and stories about testing and this and that. And people to talk to about this who've been through it!!!!!(!)

Yikes, was kind of afraid of that. Really not a YT person... I prefer to read a bit and form my own opinion. Tough to do in a week when 18 games come out that all look varying levels of promising. For now I went with Golf Story (and Mario, but that was the other day).

I really liked the non-EX version of Sine Mora, for what it's worth.

My current issue with Switch releases is based around how much I prioritize portability. These games will always be a few dollars on Steam which is where I prefer to do most of my "gaming" (really, curation) so the cream-of-the-crop will get the Switch treatment. Just wish there was a good way to get some concise info on the games.

I downloaded Picross S, Steamworld Dig 2 and Golf Story now, and picked up Thumper as well because I've heard good things.

Now I'm stuck on the decision on what to play first. Completed the first set/world of Picross and got through the tutorial in Golf Story.

Help me GAF.

Steamworld Dig 2, just because of the fantastic polish. Picross S and Thumper are the type of games you can play in parallel with other main games IMO. Haven't played much of Golf Story yet, but it seems to be very charming.

Agreed. Mainline Steamworld and play Picross when you want a break from it. After that, dig into Golf Story, since it's probably longer.

Thanks guys, but I already have a "mainline game" in Mario+Rabbids. These were supposed to be my side games lol :D

Still updating the USA/Canada/Mexico Switch eShop comparison spreadsheet. Price differences have gotten a whole lot less common as of late, aside from the USA generally having the lowest price.

It's worth noting that Sine Mora Ex is almost $5 cheaper in Canada than in the USA. Also, the Lego Ninjago game isn't on the Mexican eShop.

Hi, i have ask to Subset games if they could bring FTL for Switch. They respond that they have no plan to bring FTL to the Switch at this time. But they said that email like mine help them understand how much interest there is in the Switch as a platform and give them more information to eork with.

Maybe they will bring one of their next projet!

I bought Sparkle 2 and found it surprisingly good, been playing it for 4 hours straight during a flight.
It has many modes, unlocked via the story progression. Like challenges mode, survival and cataclysm.

With around 90 stages in story mode, high replay value, I think it worth the $7.99 price tag ( I bought Zuma Deluxe at $4.99 in Apple Store years ago with half of this game content.)
The only minus thing is that the music kinda lack in variation, hopefully they patch it out.
