Blacksad is really just a great story with jaw dropping art. I always felt like I was watching an early 90's animated film=]

FurryGAF would love this :D

I hate to say this, but I feel like people need to be loud about Blacksad. I want pressure on the creative and Darkhorse to keep the ball rolling on these books and give them all the resources they need. It's one of the best series I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

Knowing that there is only one more book in October until having to wait years for a follow up is cruel.

He's more likely to try solving it himself and wind up speeding it up or something worse. Honestly, he'd probably have wound up teaming up with Namor and going rogue.

Who would he go to for help? The guy was a long wolf the whole series outside of finally giving Peter back control when he realized that he couldn't do what needed to be done when it came to saving Anna Maria.

Spock deserves to have some slack cut for him here, you have to remember that Norman had a magical anti-spock program and multiple anti-spock preptime strategies that magically stopped working when peter parker came back for no reason

I'm hoping that the Bill Mantlo auction is successful. things are still super quiet. Quieter than I expected. I think they expected this to hit with the Guardians movie crowd, and the truth is that they don't really give a fuck. They just like Chris Pratt and Groot.

Here's to hoping there is a 0 hour spike.

Think I am done with GL after this New Gods event. Venditti is such a lifeless and unimaginative writer. Oh well, onto Sixis, the premiere Marvel event of the year.

Oh well, onto Sixis, the premiere Marvel event of the year.

I already know the results of that event. We spend a shit ton of money on a book that has some highs, a ton of lows, and in the end Remender's ambitions will be hindered by Marvel Editorial. People will question if he was a good writer to begin with, and he'll go back to writing kick ass Sci-Fi books for Image and he'll be put back in his Marvel corner.

Then it will get a Hardcover in 6 months, and IST will sell it for more than half off what we spent on our floppies which are worthless because events are overprinted.

What's the word on the Marvel Dark Tower books? Are they worthwhile? I'm about to buy the omnibus collection.

I like em!
Dark Tower : Long Road Home was actually one of the first comics I bought when I got it to comics again.
I am currently ready Dark Tower: Gun Slinger Born HC at the moment. Totally forgot it's been on my shelf now for months

I really like and and enjoy it a lot. Love Jae Lees art and the story is great. Back ground art seems bland at time but still good.

Read Leaving Megalopolis last night. Absolutely superb work from the former Secret Six team, but damn if some of the scenes in it won't give me nightmares. It's not quite Crossed, but it's worse than some of the stuff in Invincible.

When Overlord picks up the Asian girl superhero by the head and smashes her down on the ground, Jesus H. Christ I wanted to vomit.

That was the only thing that bothered me. The backgrounds looked incredibly bland and uninspired but Jae Lee's art is surreal and dreamlike to begin with, so I let it slide.

Is it a companion to the books, or an adaptation?

I honestly don't know.
As far as the back ground art, yeah it is pretty simple, but for me at least it doesn't bother me to much once i get reading it.
Idk the story telling is really good and I kinda feel like im in that world, my imagination is building a world and really pulling me in as I read

As far as I am aware it's also the link between all of the King novels as well. I didn't know that and it's why I want to read both the comic and all the novels.

You just can't make this shit up. Blacksad is incredible.

Oh my god

I need to update my enemies list. So answer this for me.

Who you got

MJ or Gwen Stacy?
Mary Jane obviously. Gwen's really not that interesting, her death being the most crucial event in her history.

The first Spider-Man run I ever read was JMS's and MJ is great in that run.

Ultimate Gwen is cool though.

Gwen was blond MJ, until she became crybaby's Daddy Girl, and then she died about 40 years ago. But not before fuckin Norman Osborn, tho. Whatever lady.

One pretty good Spider-Gwen comic don't change that

The most important thing Gwen ever did was die at the hands of the Green Goblin.

This.

I also always hated how Writers wrote MJ in Gwen related stories. She was always like "Hey Tiger, I am completely OK that you still love her so much that you rather speak cassette tapes full with love confessions for her on Valentinesday than rather spend time with your wife you are married with for like 100 years now."

Every ordinary Woman would be mad jealous and those situations are always incredible unbelievable...

Who you got

MJ or Gwen Stacy?
MJ all the way. Original Gwen wasn't very interesting. Her personality was plain and essentially "nice and pretty". Near the end before she died it seemed she spent most her time in the book annoyed, worrying or just crying.

Gwen.

616 Gwen is a non character but i love her movie and Ultimate characterization. Current MJ is the least interesting female character in Pete's life and has been since OMD which i guess is what they were going for.

Speaking of JMS's Spidey run, what's everyone's opinion of it? Now admittedly, I haven't read it since I was like 14, but I thought it was pretty great while Romita was on the book, I really didn't mind the whole totem thing. Once he left, it was definitely a lot more varying in terms of quality with some obvious low points (Sins Past, OMD) but I enjoyed parts like Back in Black.

I loved it. I still dont go with the Spider-Totem thing, but I still love a lot of Characters introduced by JMS. Morlun, Ezekiel, all the new Villains he created.

Was also my first contact with Comic-Spidey :)

JMS and Romita JR is still the best Spider-Man run I have ever read,
granted I haven't really read anything before it
...

I figured they're using October as a month they could release the trade, LA Woman, which comes out October 21, and then release the two big conclusion issues relatively close to each other. The last issue, #22, is 30 pages as well

Besides Spider-Gwen, I like clone Gwen. I like her because she was a huge mistake and they tried to fix that mistake with another mistake and finally gave up and killed her again and tried to brush it under the rug.

Oh my God, guys, DC's been collecting Jon Ostrander's Martian Manhunter.

I better not be the only person excited about this.

If anyone is looking to pick up the new paperback editions of Sin City, my Barnes and Noble had them for 50% off plus an additional 10% if you have their membership card.
