After bounties, what is the best way to get Vanguard rep? Just do Vanguard strikes yes?
hand in spirit blooms or relics (easiest to farm imo)

Do them while getting patrols in as well unless it is a "scan" or "kill target" then cancel and grab a other patrol mission, stick with kill area or collect from kills.

I do not do it much but i'm almost rank 4 because of this.

Bounties too.

Edit: My heads gone; sorry! How I missed the first line I don't know.

Yes, Do them as high a level as you can manage. 24's aren't particularly challenging as long as no ones under leveled.

maybe that was the problem. gunslinger was good for harpies and oracles but useless on the boss. i was debating switching to a sniper, but i kept a fusion rifle in place for lingering minotaurs and oracles.

Could be, I'm pretty sure you have time to spare using this strategy, we didn't hit the enrage and I don't think we were close. I'm not sure how many loops it took us on our run, but it wasn't many.

Once you get into a rhythm, your group gains confidence and speed getting into the shield and unloading on him (be careful with rockets!), and he takes insane damage every burn phase. I want to say maybe 5 portals and he was down? I'd have to check though. He enrages at 8 minutes I believe.

Also, I think it may be possible to do the portal team as two people, and have the remaining four outside pound on the boss with the added firepower. A Hunter with the perfect weapon loadout can probably kill all the oracles in time, and a Gunslinger + the Relic bearer can absolutely kill all the adds easily past the first one, which will be the stickiest.

Not something I'd recommend until you're geared up, but after this week or next, anyone with a Raid weapon that has bonus Oracle damage can probably pull it off, and that will speed up the killtime on Atheon from the extra damage.

the kill delay is one of my biggest issues as well (the automatic doors even lag too), and the audio glitch is also still there. they're the kind of glitches i expect to be fixed after two public tests.

It's shocking from a company known for its multiplayer, but more than that it's unacceptable for any game with competitive mp.

Have a good Spirit Bloom route? Took me almost an hour yesterday to get 16.

Am I the only one finding it easier to gain strange coins and ascendant materials through loot drops? By that I mean decrypting rares and hoping they turn into one of the two. The vast majority of my coins, shards and energy come from the cryptarch. I want to say at least 15 of the 21 coins I've earned so far were from that.

Just thought I'd share that. I'm finding the Christmas Cave is the best thing going in this game, once you hit lvl 20. Until that point, grinding for loot isn't necessary, but from that point on, the cave gives you the shortest path to lvl 28. It even offers a nice source of weapons xp. Especially if you've cleared all the bounties for the day.

I think the marks limit for the week should be raised to 150 marks. 100 is pretty low given the cost of goods. I need 270 marks just for the helm and scout rifle I want. Another 215 if I can't find a legendary heavy or a body armor only carried by crucible guys. I think this week I'm going to make sure to gain max marks across my 2 main characters so I can use them to buy and swap around gear.

I'm not even going to attempt to rank up in crucible anymore for my warlock. I'll leave that to my hunter. I don't need to join a faction. The crucible and vanguard vendors carry similar kit, and have the pieces I need with intellect and light, as well as the desired perks.

Anyone know if the legendary selection at vendors will change on a schedule? I want to make sure the specific gear perks I need are there when I have the marks. PEACE.

Wait, hand them in? To who? I keep collecting them but never know what to do with them. =P

Harvest moon (and Earth and Mars and Venus): Each planet you’re able to visit in Destiny has its own collectible resource: Spinmetal on Earth, Helium Filaments on the Moon, Spirit Bloom on Venus, and Relic Iron on Mars. Much like Crucible/Vanguard Marks, these are more of an endgame concern, though it’s best to harvest them whenever you see them.

Each resource can be traded to a merchant at the Tower in bundles of 50, rewarding you with some amount of Crucible/Vanguard Marks. In truth, we’re still learning how these late-game systems work, so these and other resources you might collect (such as Strange Coins) remain a question mark.

Ahhh...

It's something that should have been on the top of the whiteboard. "Hey, our audio cuts out and our multiplayer lags. We need to hammer these bugs out." My first Raid had virtually no audio...

Patrol missions. Especially the ones where you are set to kill a specific enemy. Mission symbol looks a bit like a crosshair. Will get you +25 rep in less than 5 minutes. Other patrol missions are +10. Strikes give way to little Rep to be worth it.

Best is a combination of Patrol Mission, Events and resource farming.

Thanks, that seems decent. I am trying to get to rank 2 to get 1-2 epics i can afford.

Ahhh...

Vanguard quater master by the ships, there at the bottom of his stash.

I just do it while doing patrols, no real method but i pretty much know where they all are now and same as the loot chests (2 bloom per chest most the time)

Only issue with them is it usually take you out the way and takes 4-5 minutes to get there and back, i stick to the 10 rep bounties and the spirit blooms.

Best way to get Vanguard rep is join a fireteam, pick a planet, and do split patrol missions with each player in a different zone.

Combine this with chest/resource farming while you're doing the patrols and the odd public event and you'll get rep/materials/engrams/ships/glimmer/marks and all the excess materials can be turned in for more rep/marks/bounty-level xp back in the tower.

... now if Bungie would just fix the 50 VIP Patrol Grimoire reward that's supposed to award materials for completing patrols...

The ones that have you kill a specific enemy are like a circle with a star in the middle.

Standard kill enemies missions look like an X.

Missions that require you go to a location and stand in place are denoted by a compass.

The ghost symbol is a scan mission, requiring you go a location and activate the ghost.

Finally, the triangle/pyramid is kill and collect.

I tend to stick with standard kill missions when I can. I do the assassination/target missions when I'm not on the moon... The moon can end up sending you deep into the temple and screw going to orbit/walking back out lol.

If only Patrol missions weren't so boring.

An upgraded legendary sniper does 9k of crit damage. combined with a 6 shot mag. you end up doing a lot of damage.

My group had the shield bearer focus on the ads letting the other two deal with the oracles.

i'm debating whether to spend my marks on one of the vendor snipers (Amina or Final Boss...can't remember which one i wanted) or wait for a drop of Patience and Time

Never do patrol missions exclusively, always pair them with chest/resource/public event hunting, weapon leveling, grimoire upgrading and of course, bringing a fireteam so you have two bros to chat with (or more if you're in a party).

I can farm something like 75+ materials in 15-20 minutes or so, plus all the other chest rewards. I'd need to test if I can do it faster when I'm not dawdling, I don't stick to singular loops, I roam the planets as patrols move me around to keep myself entertained.

Is there a place where I can read about the Grimoire rewards other than read them at bungie.net?

If I see a assassination I do that unless an event is coming soon. Else I do kill or collect while waiting for Events or moving to next event area. Also collect all chests or resources I see. I rarely just stand and shoot stuff. So way better than farming Engrams =P

I do prefer strikes though but the reward from them are terrible. But it is still what I play the most =)

If only Patrol missions weren't so boring.

Combine with Events and resource/chest hunting and it is ok. But only because of the rewards.

Just decrypted 4 legendaries, one coin, two blues and a fking green..

The Vault of Glass is incredibly fun and a real challenge too. It feels like they saved everything creative, interesting, and unique for this one long instance while neglecting the rest of the game.

It's a shame you had to go through so much nonsense to reach the point where you can enter the Vault. They spent too much time trying to gate player progression to slow people down because of the limited endgame content but all it did was make people mad.

How far did you guys get?

Just raised my alt Hunter to 20, and immediately jumped to 22 with the exotic chest and blue gear my Titan had found.

Your move, rng.

Now to raise a Warlock and really give it the finger.

How do you know when and where the public events are scheduled?

I've barely scratched the surface of the patrols really but want to give it a go.

This is really sad because I have friends that have no interest in grinding for the light level required to do it.

They really should have made a level 20 or 22 raid as well.

You can be raid geared in a little over a week if you cap both marks. Two weeks if you only cap one.

Not much of a grind unless you try to get it done faster than that.

Are you guys going to play this every day until the Expansion hits? As much as I love the game, I can't see me playing this for more than a month.

If the stability is less than 50% then probably not. It sounds like you have a Sahara-like gun. See if you can get consistent headshots with it, that's the main thing you need for pvp. Also, check the perks, if there's a stability perk further down the line, it might be worthwhile.

.
Stability affect recoil, am I getting this right?
With some auto rifles, perk wold bring it from let's say 40% to 60-70% and no difference at all to recoil. Is it broken or am I doing something wrong?

I always planned to have three alts just to try all the classes but now I want to do it just to have more sources of upgrade materials. Even if the only ever do easy public events the potential 2 shards would be great to have. I finally have all legendary and exotic gear but I can't upgrade them.

I also think I need to play them just to understand their capabilities better. When I spent a day in the Crucible I saw stuff I didn't know was possible. There were times where I thought "wtf?" while waiting to respawn cause I didn't know what the hell had just killed me.

The stability perk makes no real noticable difference on those high mag/high fire rate auto rifles.

Just got my third exotic bounty. I've got invective I'm on the bounty for Bad Juju (just completed the 25 strikes), now I have one for super good advice.

Got my first Epic yesterday.

I know you can buy it from the Crucible Quartermaster but it sure as hell beats grinding level 2 rep till I could buy it.

I guess its the process of getting said marks that isn't enjoyable for them, running patrols/strikes that drop nothing can get pretty tedious.

So I'm now level 25, 3 story missions left to do and only played 3 normal Strikes so far. The rest has been bounties, patrols and farming. Been enjoying it so far because the setting and the combat are so good IMO.

Just a bit disappointed my only legendary headgear drop was for a Titan and I have a Warlock, and my only legendary primary weapon drop was a pulse-rifle while I mostly use hand-cannons and scout-rifles.

So, last saturday while still at level 22 I tried to do the Weekly Heroic Strike twice but both times I was just dumped into it alone, without any matchmaking attempt. Are Weekly Heroic Strikes like the Raid, there's no matchmaking?

If so, I can kind of understand the why they chose to not to do matchmaking, but I still disagree with the decision.

Managed to get to the last boss of the raid before people got tired, probably the best thing this game has going for it right now. It's a shame Strike's don't offer any kind of training to prepare players for this sort of things, but it was quite enjoyable. Got myself some raid gloves with bonus damage to Oracles and the other big minotaurs guys. C:

Yeah no matchmaking I'm afraid.
