I haven't been keeping up with AE and I have to say this looks really nice. I can only imagine how great DR 3 will look when it finally comes out.

Oh, turns out that I have all three versions of Natural Doctrine. Guess I'll play the PS4 and Vita versions.
It is really crazy how the value of PS+ dramatically increases with every Playstation platform you own or plan to own. And not even just the simple idea of paying the same $50 (or $30 cause of black friday!) a year but getting more games, but also with cross-buy. Because of cross-buy, I technically got 4 vita games, 3 PS3 games and 2 PS4 games this month.
Say what you will about renting games or whatever, but when I can choose that many games to play that I got in a given month by paying $30 a year, that makes me happy.

I think you should go for the 3000 model. Because it has a better screen than the 2000. I only have the 2000 model. So I can't really compare those 2 models :/. But if I see some Youtube comparison video's, than it looks to me that the screen of the 3000 model looks much better :/(the screen looks more vibrant than the 2000 model).

Well it looks like there are ads for major Japanese gaming news websites too (4gamer, Inside, Gamespark and such), so all presses are bribed by Spike Chunsoft.

Man people get really riled up over hints! When teflon first mentioned it I was like "cool, hope I read the thread when it comes out to see what it was" and promptly forgot about it. Now that he said Thursday, I went "cool, now I will know what it is in a few days" and didn't care more than than. I like knowing that something possibly cool is coming to vita, but I don't really have any desire to know more about it until it gets released. Knowing earlier will just make me have to wait even longer between finding out about it and it being released.

Hah, yea I totally understand. I guess I read this thread so much that I would've seen it either way, so it doesn't matter so much for me. I'll never catch up to Shizuka on the wall of shame though, but I can live with that.

Wow the game looks really good. I remember when it was announced last year and it looked very... Not good.
Also it looks like there's a weird "Bear" version of Toro and Kuro in there in a Playstation advertisement.

Nobody is saying that these particular games were good, nor are they saying Sony didn't make mistakes. What I'm saying is that expecting Sony to laundry list all the mistakes they made, lament the state of the market, and execute the Vita publicly in an interview is never, ever going to happen - and it shouldn't.
Instead, they will promote indies, localizations, and remote play like any sane corporation would. Just like they should.
From their perspective, that's what sells. And that means... that's our perspective too. We're the ones buying indies in droves. We're the ones buying localizations in droves. We're the ones remote playing. We aren't buying AAA properties, and we never have. Not even brilliant ones like Tearaway, or can't believe my eyes ones like Killzone. They're reacting to us. Did they make mistakes? Sure. But reacting positively to what we buy certainly isn't one.
Furthermore, they can't always control the quality of every release on a system. And when they can, such as with Killzone Mercs or Tearaway, they've often hit the ball out of the park to no avail.
Even the games you mention as Sony "hitting it out of the park" had problems in their release. Killzone isn't a big IP and Mercs was overshadowed by the PS4 game launching weeks later. Tearaway was sent to the paper shredder by launching the same day as Xbox One, Mario 3D World and Zelda 3DS. Neither of them received any kind of noticeable promotional push in North America either.

Hopefully they'll make this one region free like the Vita TV version.

Man you just blew my mind that Killzone: Mercenary and Shadow Fall were released so close together. Though I think saying that it launched "weeks later" is a bit disingenuous, as it was over two full months after Mercenary that Shadow Fall and the PS4 came out.
But I agree with Tearaway, that it received more or less no marketing push from Sony. Maybe they felt it wasn't worth it having it come out the same day as all those other things?

I'm talking quality of release, not anything beyond that. Both of those games are stellar, and in a perfect world would shift systems. Instead, they didn't even sell to people with existing systems. This is moving the goalposts anyway. We are not discussing whether Sony made mistakes (of course they did) we're discussing why Sony moved away from AAA Vita releases. And that is lack of sales. The reason for those lack of sales is immaterial to their decision... it's not like you lose millions on, say, KZ and then say, 'oh, well, maybe it was the release date, let's invest in another property'. At some point they have to assume the games we're buying are what we want (indies, localizations) and the games we aren't buying aren't.
Unless a game like KZ released in an absolute dead zone, we could always claim the lack of sales was because of it being overshadowed by XYZ. And if it released in a deadzone, we could just be like 'nobody buys games during that month, what were they thinking?' Monday morning quarterbacking is simple.
And KZ is a pretty big Sony property. Not the hugest in the world, but it's nothing to sneeze at either.
I would say that Sony's poor timing and lack of marketing push were heavy factors in why these games didn't sell to existing vita owners or move systems. But again, that is immaterial, as the fact that they didn't sell kind of sealed the deal for future AAA games, as you said. It doesn't matter if it was Sony's fault or the consumer's fault (lol), fact is the games didn't sell and it seems Sony isn't keen to try again.
Which is understandable, because despite us in this thread being sure the games would've done better with a strong marketing budget and well timed release, who knows. Maybe they still wouldn't have, we can never really know. And it probably isn't financially worth it for Sony to gamble on the fact that they would have sold and try again.
I hate that fact, but I don't see a way around it. So I will continue being happy with what I get on the vita, and I will continue realizing that I would like AAA games to come as well, but that they may not and I still love the system and what games come to it anyway.

Dengeki's was an interview with Kaz (GT) for their 20th anniversary issue. The Bloodborne announcement was an Alpha Test recruitment or something.

PS4 GAF went crazy during TGS. There was a Dengeki 20th Anniversary livestream that resulted in the announcement of a magazine. A live stream by one of SCEJ's producers had them exhibiting games on the show floor. SCEJA's super secret special announcement was a Bloodborne beta.
