PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

awesome to see Resonance of Fate come to PSN

Wait what? I was literally minutes away from ordering this on amazon last night after someone mentioned it and I decided to check it out, this is some miracle! Now I get to save $2 and not have to wait 2 days to get my game!

TOTP: Buy R.I.P.D. the game, on sale! The movie was so good the game must be great!
No really, don't
Also buy P4G because it is never ever, ever, ever, coming to PS+

Hah did Valhalla Knights 3 go on sale after we've been talking about it here or is that still one of last week's sales and thats why it was being talked about? Store not fully updated I guess, some of last week's sales still up in weekly deals but with no discounts anymore.

Thank you. Is there any problem importing one from other regions? Unfortunately all models except the E1000 are discontinued here but a 3000 from the US would be hardy more expensive.
The only problems would be the power supply(if you get a European PSP), the button input/layout(if you get a Japanese PSP), warranty(but that doesn't matter if you buy a used one ;P) and UMD movies.

In Europe they use 220-240 volt and Japan/US uses 110 volt. So you have to buy a Power Adapter Converter Plug thing(or a new battery pack + a new charger/power supply) if you get a used European PSP(I don't have experience with the Power Adapter Converter Plug thing. So I can't say if it works great etc. :/).

The Japanese PSP has a different button input/layout than the European/US one. For example: O is yes and X is no. But this only happens when you use XMB(and XMB related things like browser). When you play a game, the button input/layout will be reverted to normal(if it's a US/European game ;P).

Also you can't play UMD movies on a imported(European/Japanese) PSP(because of the region lock on those movies). But I have a feeling you aren't going to use the PSP to watch some UMD movies ;).

Firmware etc. shouldn't be a problem. Sony/Playstation always warn you with "This update is only for customers who obtained PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) for Japan (PSP-1000/PSP-2000/PSP-3000/PSP-N1000 series)". But if you search on the internet, you will read that most people downloaded firmwares from other regions ;P.

Finally. When this game was announced, I decided to wait for this one and leave Toukiden behind. Hopefully this game will be cheap ;P.

I have resonance of fate, but I'm hoping for it to come to PS now so I can play it on the vita (far Into the future as the alpha/beta haven't reached Sweden yet).

BTW how come noone is talking about Murasaki Baby. This is my short review (no spoilers):

The length of the game is perfect and too short, go buy it.

Edit: the price of Frozen Synapse:Prime seems fair. This is not a port, this is a remake. For example, they hired Bales stunt double from the Batman movies to do the mocaps in the game. So, the people that can afford it and have interests in the genra and say that the game is to expensive and they will wait for it to be on sale should be ashamed of themselves. :)

Resonance of Fate is in my top five (retail) games of the last gen. Everyone who likes a JRPG now and then should download this immediately.

I played it for 6 hours and it was a real struggle. I loved the characters and the design but the battle system was not only overly convoluted, once you have gems shattered = game over. I thought it had an amazing potential but the balance was just broken IMO.

i know on PS tv i can download PS1 games to it, is it the same with PS1 saves stored on my portable HDD, correct? just transfer PS1 saves to vita card via my PC/LAptop?

It'll never ever, ever, ever, happen.
lol Double Eleven. I knew it since they declined to tell us the price but Frozen Synapses Prime is $20. Nope. Too much. I got other things to buy. As much as I want it.
Yeah, maybe if they included the red alert expansion with the game, I'd be more apt to purchase frozen synapse. But I don't believe that's the case

I loved Murasaki Baby, and my girlfriend loved watching me play it. Length felt perfect to me, puzzles and small storylines didn't overstay their welcome. Had some metrico style "flip the vita" puzzles, but it worked fine in a game with 100% touch controls where you never have to use the buttons, and it was always a pure 180 degree flip so I had no issues with it.

I loved the world it created, and I really got the feeling of leading a child around to help her find her mom (in a creepy as hell in the best kind of ways world).

helping EA support the Vita.
One rehash kit at a time

Beautiful character and world design, surprisingly interesting story, better than average voice work, OMFG GEM BROKEN BATTLE SYSTEM BATTLES ARE EVERYWHERE TAKE FOREVERJESUSFUCKLJKLJKL

i thought that was a portal game as well..with all the cubes and whatnot..

For an instant i thought it was Portal lol.

Well, Portal started an entire subgenre of first person physics-based puzzle games, but those often tends to offer very different kind of puzzles. I think that this is one of those cases, judging from the PC footage it seems like it's based on gravity and attraction instead of portals.

I need something like this on my Vita, so bring it on! I just hope in a good level design and a decent level of polish.

Is it because of it being based on a smaller game that it should be cheaper?

Being a late port of a PC indie game that has gone through steam sales and humble bundles tends to devalue a game a bit, and rightfully so in some ways. I got Frozen Synapse in a humble bundle for like $5 (with a ton of other games), so it is harder to justify $20 for the same game I already own and got ages ago for $5. But drop that price to $10-15 with maybe a PS+ discount too and I am more likely to double dip.

I understand that it is a remake with a lot of extra stuff and not a straight port, just explaining possible mentality behind wanting these late ports to be cheaper. They have every right and reason to charge more for it, but similarly I have every right and reason to not feel like it offers the value that the price is asking for.

All that said, I loved Frozen Synapse and will probably be buying it for $20 because I love indies on my Vita and I do think this game is worth that to me, though I understand why others might not.

Get back to WERK

Oh look, Atlus games are currently not on non-sale this week.

Wait, what?

Could this...

Could it really?

Could this possibly mean Sega can also bring Valkyria Chronicles to PSN?

The game is still pretty cheap on the used market. (Which pisses me off, it's a cult classic and therefore should be worth like $100 now)

Isn't Frozen Synapse Vita very different from the PC version?

There are a ton of differences and even the graphical style has been totally re-done. But the main essence of the gameplay is still the same, and if you totally had your fill of the PC version I doubt the Vita version is different enough to make you want to play again. But the asynchronous multiplayer sounds really awesome so that might get you back in.

Get back to WERK

Work sucks, GAF is better.

Why is AC4 PS4 is 60% more expensive than the PS3 version? I'd have bought it for 20 but 32 is too much.

Hey, you get more than double the pixels with the PS4 version! only a 60% price increase is a steal! Disclaimer: I do not actually know if the PS4 version has a higher resolution than the PS3, but pretend it does for the sake of this joke.

Because they know they can charge more for a superior version. Runs at 1080p after you patch it, locked 30FPS from what I've been told, and likely has other visual bells and whistles.

This doesn't make any sense, they have been working on this remake for 2 years. With this logic every sequel to to a game should be a little cheaper than it's predecessor and games like FFX, that is both a sequel and a really old game, should be free without micro transactions. ;)

I am not angry, I am heartbroken. Frozen synapse is the first real strategy game on the Vita and I am not suggesting that everyone should buy it. but the ppl that are into this kind of games and would like to see more games like this really should.

Hey man, I'm just playing devil's advocate here expressing why people might not want to go in for it. I am still likely gonna buy it because I really liked it on PC. But you really can't call this a sequel. It has tons of improvements and new gameplay modes, but the core gameplay is largely the same. You get the same experience as you would have playing on PC or iPad with some additions.

And honestly, they made some changes that weren't really necessary. Did the game need a whole new look and graphics overhaul? Maybe it would've been a better decision to not spend some of that money retooling the graphics (which I really liked before) and maybe launch at $15 instead. Again, devils advocate, but I know I personally didn't need some of the changes to still enjoy the vita version.

Whatever web host for images you use is killing me, stupid hospital internet blocks them every single time. Though at least this time the name of the image was descriptive.

I would like to see Valkyria Chronicles go to PSN for compatibility reasons. It could open it up to PS Now making it available to PS4 and Vita. I probably still would need to hold onto my PS3 for the KH HD collections though unless by chance they re-release them on PS4.

It would surprise me if the KH hd collections didn't end up on PS4/XB1 at some point

I use postimage.org 'cause I don't have to sign up, it takes every format and I've never had them remove an image due to bandwidth. Got a replacement I don't have to sign up for?

On another note, it seems like Akiba's Trip just keeps getting DLC costume pieces - I'm kind of loving it since when I go back for platinum I'll have a ton of choice :)

I understand your point, but I find it sad if developers get complains because they chose to make something more then a "simple" port. I guess it would have been the same with BOI.

Opinions.

I use imgur.com for my image hosting. Don't need to sign up and it has lots of useful editing features built in like crop and rotate, plus it gives you quick links on the side with the tags already placed.

Yea, I totally understand. I just wish the best price and the best game could have perfectly lined up so everyone bought it. And BoI gets a free pass because everyone who played it before will instantly jump for joy knowing the game isn't running in god damn Flash anymore, eugh. BoI should not have slowdown on my laptop, that game is not graphically draining. God damn flash...

Don't know if we are friends allready, but you're welcome to add me, just write who you are.

Some image hosts delete old images after a certain amount of time and recycle the image url for new uploads. We've had old topics where images changed to porn after a while.

Not an issue with postimage that I know of, as it uses the original filename and not a generated code for the link.

I'll look into imgur, but I seem to remember dropping it for some reason in the past.

Defense Grid 2 is out. I loved the first one but $25 seems a bit too steep. Anyone play this?

This needs an answer. It looks a lot like my dear old Savage Moon, but on some sort of metal future tech base. I don't recall Savage Moon going for $25... so I'd want to know if this is good good or just eh good.

Well then the PS4 version should be 40% more expensive than the Xbox One version either:) (just continueing the joke).

Since it was the same price at launch it should be discounted by the same amount. I can stomach a 5$ extra maybe but 12$ is too much. In my case they lost a customer for their greed, I'd have bought it from the store but now I'd rather spend it for something else on the store or find a used copy (though in my country finding a second hand copy is difficult).
