Nightfall and Strike Cheese Tip of the Week

At the last boss, the Nexus, don't jump down that large drop. First take out the few roaming Minotaurs that are wandering down there until the boss spawns. Then, just shoot at the boss from the same spot, sniper rifles are your friend here.

There will be an Ultra Minotaur Vex that will spawn behind you every 40 seconds or sometimes less, but dealing with 1 enemy on a constant loop is easier than the hoards that spawn below on a regular basis.

If you have a defender Titan get them to drop their shield with "Weapons of Light" so when everyone passes through it, all damage on the boss will be buffed.

What's the secret to playing a Sunsinger well in PvP? It seems weaker to me than all the others.
Really? For PvP it seems the weakest IMO. It's great for PvE though. What about it makes you think it's the best?
Sorry for the delay, had a meeting and holy sweet fuck does thread move fast.

First off, take this with a grain of salt because my warlock is level 4. This is from playing against them and paying attention because they're rare.

Most important point of what I said: well-played. A crappy sunsinger is easy pickings, so "weak" isn't a surprising descriptor. But let's imagine a well played one and consider these aspects/skills that would be used to dominate during Radiance in the Crucible:

Offensive Benefits:
Grenade Spam: Massively reduced grenade cooldown means that grenades are essentially your primary weapon when it's Radiance time. With Solar grenades you can create impenetrable deathtraps with area denial; Fusion Bolt grenades can guarantee individual kills if you are accurate.
Scorch: during Radiance, the Sunsinger warlock special melee attack is a OHKO even to a fully shielded target. Obviously this doesn't make them into Bladedancers, but with a high Strength armor set, this makes them incredibly dangerous at close range- including shotgun range- for the entire duration of Radiance
Touch of Flame: During Radiance, Sunsinger grenade cooldown is... silly. You can essentially spam them at will. This skill adds: "All grenades ignite enemies, causing damage over time." This can turn a grenade "miss" into a kill from DOT, and probably quadruple the amount of Postmortem kills you can obtain when killed out of Radiance
Viking Funeral (optional, consider against Radiant Will): "Enemies you ignite burn longer and take more damage." Obvious synergy with Touch of Flame and the grenade cooldown spam. What this does is essentially guarantee any grenade contact is a kill or near-kill. And there will be lots of grenades.

Defensive Benefits
Radiant Skin (optional, consider against Fireborn, but usually the right choice): "While active, Radiance reduces incoming damage." This alone makes the Sunsinger dangerous for the entire duration of Radiance. Radiant Skin with no other action taken still allows the Sunsinger to withstand two Arc Blade strikes. If I'm playing a good one, slice at him in Radiance, and discover he's got Radiant Skin (he doesn't die), 80% of the time I go on to be killed by either a shotgun blast or Scorch.
Flame Shield: "Damaging enemies with Scorch reduces incoming damage for a short time." Obviously, synergy with Radiant Skin. This is similar to the Titan Defender's barrier melee (though not as strong). Combined with Radiant Skin (and assuming all traits focus on Toughness) this can allow the Sunsinger to survive three Arc Blade strikes or possibly even four from full health while in Radiance. It also has no tell whatsoever that I can see, other than noting the green overshield on their health bar after they get it (which, as a hunter, is merely a "Nope" indicator rather than something I can counter).
Fireborn (optional, consider against Radiant Skin): "Radiance can now be activated from beyond the grave. Doing so returns you to life." Yeah this allows you to self-resurrect. Not recommended for Rumble; having been killed "counts" toward the match-ending score, and you allow for the chance of getting outplayed by someone who sees it coming (I'm hyper-vigilant about this already) and giving out double points. However, in Team/Objective modes, this can easily turn the tide of a team fight after you go down and even turn a close fight into a massacre like no other super can. Fist of Havoc and Nova Bomb get blown and if there was someone involved in that fight that wasn't in the spot, there's a moment of vulnerability for the super user. This is like the opposite of that; an apparent moment of expected vulnerability (one less team member alive) becomes an advantage.

General Benefits:
Radiant Will (optional, consider against Viking Funeral): Just extends Radiance duration so all of these benefits translate into more kills/minute. Depending on your accuracy, this might be the better choice most of the time. Viking Funeral is extra leeway if you miss grenade throws; Radiant Will is the professional's choice IMO.
Auto-revive: Activating Radiance revives any nearby dead guardians. In Skirmish or any other potential modes allowing revival this is an absolute godsend for team fights.

Incredible, duly underrated class. Utterly nasty with skilled play, but high skill ceiling IMO. As a Bladedancer, I still hate Titans more- because if I roll up on a Radianced-out Warlock with Arc Blade active, I can just get my ass to safety by air dashing rather than getting instantly Fist of Havoc smashed or Barrier Melee Shoulder Charge Fucked.

Thanks todahawk for the gif!

is this picture true?
True...? Yeah I think so? :P Not totally sure what you mean :>

Nah, that XP is pretty good up until lvl20.

In my opinion, which isn't worth much, the cave is ONLY good for XP. If you're looking to get to 20 quickly, just go camp there for a while. In terms of getting good loot/weapons/armor, get up to 20 and then start rolling on the strike playlist and any weeklies or dailies at level 22. You'll start to rank up fast. I'm at 26 now and it didn't take that long to accumulate everything I needed.

Thank you! I'll keep on rolling the way I have been then. :)

Titan shield need a buff for pve

Hunters have invis for stealthy revives

Warlocks have self ress with fireborn

And Titan has a shield that is almost useless for difficult strikes

Eh. I was using the bubble with the ability to produce more orbs as it takes damage (you can produce 5 total orbs per bubble). Strategically place it so your team can peak around the side and use it / amplify their damage as well and it's amazing.

Our Hunter was Golden Gun'ng quite often due to it, which fed me orbs to do it again (and the Titan bubble already rechargse FAST).

It's a good move, but it requires cooperation to use it.

Some gaffers and I came so close to completing the weekly strike last night. It was pretty hectic but I had fun the whole time.

What's the strategy others are using? We had him to 20% but then the axis Minotaur killed the dude kiting it and we all died.

There is a little hiding spot behind where you drop down to fight the Nexus. It took me a while, but I solo'd the weekly heroic last night using that stratergery.

1) Your avatar looks delicious. I now want calamari for lunch.

2) In the nightfall, if everyone dies, you get booted to orbit, is that correct?

3) Any other tips for the Nightfall? I'm doing it tonight and am half-excited and half-"oh shit"

Well I did the 4 Queen bounties that are PvE last night. Are the two PvP ones worth the hassle? I've yet to do any of her missions but I only got one legendary from the bounties (a rocket launcher).

I use neither weapon so I'm skipping them.

I disagree. The cave is only good for loot. You also don't want to burn yourself out on it when there's a good amount of content that you still haven't seen yet.

farming the loot cave is actually pretty fun, especially when you get swamped by the huge mob every so often...i've gone up 3 levels today by doing that plus a mission and a few crucible matches. I could be at level 20 by the end of the day if I had the time to play some more. I haven't gotten any legendary or even blue drops yet, but then again I only farmed the cave for less than an hour today.

Where? Like an engram during the bounty? And what do you mean ONLY?! o.O
I use the hell out of my Hawkmoon hand cannon in PvE but I feel like I would get owned trying to use it in PvP.
Rage... maximizing... head... pressure... explosion

This is wrong. There's a bounty for collecting 200 ether drops from fallen as well as killing 200 fallen with headshots, in addition to the devil walker one. App won't show this, you actually need to be in game to see them for some reason.

Beautiful! Those were easy yesterday. I'm glad they're back today.

Sorry if it's been answered already, but any new stuff dropping for the queens wrath missions today? I know yesterday was mostly helmet/chest (I got both!) wondering if it might cycle on a daily basis?

I dropped in on two groups of people playing Queens Wrath story missions yesterday, both of them were playing the final heart of darkness story mission thing. I am starting to hate that one, and I haven't even gotten there in the story yet!

IIRC it was. I played a lot last night but I may have actually gotten it after a crucible match now that I think about it.
That's unrelated to the bounty for sure. You got lucky.

The ultimate rewards for Queen's Wrath are guaranteed legendaries (either a Helm, Chest, Sniper Rifle, or ship I think) from completing a Mission. Each bounty allows you to complete one Mission.
I love it! Most satisfying head shots ever!
I would give up all my legendaries and all my other exotics and all my other guns, if I could just have Hawkmoon. I would start from level 1, in a heartbeat, naked, just to have Hawkmoon. I'd run the table with it in PvP too. I care about nothing else

I like how doing the Queens Kill Order keeps giving me the same damn mission over and over again. And at this point I'm pretty sure the legendary gear you get is tied to the mission. Cause I've gotten the same legendary 4 times in a row.

Yesterday i got two legendary ARs. Grim citizen III and hex caster arc. Opinions?

By looking at the stats:

- Grim citizen III = High rof, decent impact, small magazine

- Hex caster arc = max rof, little impact, big magazine

I didn't have the chance to test them yet. Work...

It's not, it's random.

You can always go to orbit and retry the mission to re-roll it. And I got the helmet and chest from doing the Earth mission twice, so you just got bad RNG.

well that's the same thing, but you probably meant helm and chest XD
Basically this:

Cleveland-Falls-Out-of-House-in-Bathtub.gif
this is so true. people just flip out when they see a bladedancer running at them! it's among the most counterable supers! seriously!

I just got Grim Citizen III last night myself. I liked it a lot. Will probably be my primary of choice now, but my legendary Bad Seed Down pulse rifle is still pretty sweet itself.

I also got The Swarm legendary machine gun last night. Damn, that thing is powerful. Lovin' it.

1) Thanks.

2) Not sure, as I haven't tried the nightfall yet. I solo'd the level 26 weekly heroic.

3) I hear solar is good this week.

Just hit level 29! Need to find Raid gear now though. Didn't get any my first 2 times through
:(

Ugh, I have the proper armour and enough ascendant shards to level them up to get to 29, but I would rather use those shards on raid gear.

But then part of me thinks the game knows what I am trying to do and won't give me Raid gear. And I didn't when I did the entire raid and finished it this past Monday.

Gahhhhhhh
