agreeing with the sentiment of new avengers.
namor exposed for the bitchmade dude i and others have been claiming he is? check? doom putting my mind to paper to show just how stupid the illuminati has been all this time? check? wakandans being tragically fucking awesome, and shuri being about that life? check. im kinda hoping this ends with everyone having egg on their faces.

one question though...
i know that was the supreme power world that was first shown, but was the second world with the xmen established before this event?

What In fucks name...Edge of Spider-verse #3, that Kaori is fucking stupid. Lol that page when she came to Paul McCartney's apartment was X-Men 100th bad.

other than the phalanx like beings, this whole chapter was kinda ehh. maybe if we got more of the world, but the core characters arent doing it for me. thats where the spider gwen world has the advantage. we know of all the players before hand, so a different take is something we can appreciate.

Amazing Doombot Double Retcon

We have to go deeper.

good. the doombot shit is the laziest thing attached to doom.

I know I shouldn't have done it, but I went and read Avengers Vs X-Men before I started reading Uncanny Avengers.

What a load of crap.

Actually I liked the middle issues, but the first 3 issues and the last issue had me pretty annoyed. Since when is Captain America that much of a giant asshole? I don't know if I've ever read anything that had me actively rooting for Cap to get his brain set aflame. Oh well, onto better reads. Hickmans and Remenders Avengers, here I come!

i'm on board with this. I've liked spider verse so far, but this one just didn't do much for me. I understand that this is all the build up though- so we can understand the backstory and motivation of all these alternate spider men when shit really hits the fan, rather than spider guy #363 doing whatever for no discernible reason.

Oh man. Low #3. Senate. Closed session. Hahahahahahahahaha. More like
giant orgy
.

This book has been a challenge, but it has been incredible. I also think it is safe to say that the daughters have been turned into evil sex slaves.

Remender is making Saga look mild by comparison.

Edit: Speaking of Saga, this month's issue was great.

Low has been heavier reading than Saga, certainly. But they're both great books. Low just isn't something to breeze through in five minutes, even though this issue was much less dialogue-heavy than the last two issues.

My comparison to Dune stands. You have to invest a ton of time into every fine detail in the world. If you dedicate enough time to digesting the story and the art, it is an incredibly rewarding experience.

Deadly Class with that ridiculous over the top love triangle. Losing interest.

Them are fighting words cuz.... Jk ,, but I thought it was great. Book of da month

Batman Eternal was good. Really cool seeing Harper coming to life as Bluebird.
Yeah it was awesome. Ima tard, totally forgot about that she is Bluebird

Enjoyed the hell outa Saga. Always such a good read

Batman Beyond is perfect. Love the art. Good story. Happy I jumped on

Has Saga found anything resembling a direction in the post-18 issues? I'll probably still pick up Vol 4 for the art, but I really tired of the meandering soap opera of everyone being someone else's ex and the open-ended 'we have no plans but to run away' story. It's such a random pastiche of fantasy and sci-fi tropes without much internal logic. It pales in comparison to other genre books right now.

I got bad news Dan

I read the first trade of Forgetless, and I actually really liked it. It's a unhinged book with some attitude. But the jumping in time was a bit annoying at first.

What's CMX? Wasn't aware Fegredo and Milligan collaborated on a book other than Enigma. I'd like a look.

Milligan and Fegredo have three major books (Enigma, Girl, Face) and a bunch of minor collaborations (the most notable being Flowers for Rhino in Spider-Man: Tangled Web back in the day).

so ive just read guardians... and can someone answer a question for me..

does bendis refuse to read back issues of works hes currently writing?

This is why i can't commit to pre-ordering the Saga OHC vol 1. I don't regret buying it monthly and i enjoy reading it....but I'm struggling to see myself going back to something that's just chilling around.

So, for the last half-hour, I've been looking up old DC Comics house ads.

Why? I really like house ads.

It's always interesting seeing pre-release promos for books like Watchmen, like you wonder if anyone knew how big they would get.

Competent artist? Tons of them are more than competent.

Are you talking about the artist from the link? If so, where do you think they fail? I'd say they're several levels above competency.

In this particular preview:

Everything is utterly flat with no sense of depth or volume. Amateur (inconsistent and/or arbitrary) or altogether absent attempts at rendering.

Inability to compose scenes. Instead we see a series of grimacing or shouting figures posed in spatial voids. Competent artists don't speak in terms of "backgrounds" (as though they're the half-assed shit you fill in behind grimacing muscle men) but instead see everything in a scene as part of a whole in terms of perspective, composition, etc.

Thoughtless sequential storytelling.

Hilariously inept attempts to illustrate technology. No vision, no concern with function of forms. Shit looks worse than the shabbiest videogame art direction ever shipped.

No consideration of the page itself as a composition (unsurprising when the panels that comprise them show the same issue).

No dynamism, no character, no style. Need more?

For comparison, here's a random Risso page:

I've only read the first two trades. But what I'm hoping is that eventually the book makes a big shift in time-setting, and the narrator actually becomes the main protagonist.

I see no one is talking about how much Bendis is screwing over D&As work with GotG and Nova. The "Return of Richard" arc is just face palm moments deluxe, he really doesn't care at all about the source material or continuity, it's just inconsistency after inconsistency. It's not going to end well that's for sure.

For those still reading Secret Avengers...

MODOK IN LOVE WITH MARIA HILL

I'm telling you this now brahs, Kipp is going to be a STAR. Our plans have gotten much bigger over the past week. In the words of multimedia superstar Mark Millar, "This is my Manhattan Projects."

I didn't get to read anything last night, but this morning I read Superman Future's End, hoping for it to fill in a bit more of what happened to Superman during the war, and why he's a hermit now. It didn't give too much info in that sense, BUT it was a really well written issue, and I enjoyed it a lot. Up next is my man Booster Gold and then some Batman Eternal.

Multiversity 2 was exactly what I wanted from the series. Really great adventure story with some damn fine Sprouse art. The only odd thing was Atom being like
"Yo, Abin Sur is fucking dead, man!" and then Abin Sur coming in later and being like "Yo, I ain't dead. And I beat the hell out of Count Chocula Sinestro."

I just read Batman Incorporated Volume 2 and I gotta say, I didn't really feel it.
I think the art threw me a bit. Damien just looked weird.

How is Lee Weeks still such a solid performer? Dude's gotta be like 412 and he's still cranking out gold.

Lee Weeks is/was fucking sick, I'm always surprised when I hear him referred to as an old dude. For me, he's closer to that Lark/Epting wheelhouse - great human anatomy with a cartoonish edge to it. His old Batman work on Prodigal and The Gauntlet (great Robin story) was wonderful. I wish he was a bigger deal.

I like Burnham on balance but brah definitely has issues with eyes and chins. His Damo would sometimes look a bit too much like a furby but I think he got the surly mouth down well. That great page with Nightwing and Robin going out like heroes is kinda ruined by Nightwing's chin for me.
