So fucking bullshit I cannot get past LV29 unless I exchange ALL armour I picked up with Armour I can RANDOMLY get from a fucking 6 person mission...

All of those Ascendant Shards were wasted getting to LV28 then...

I know right. Fun times. About to hit 28 but I'm kind of scratching my head in why to go further.

Dammit. Guess I gotta pray to RNGesus every week instead of daily now.

I will admit, each time I've looted the raid completely, I got a piece of raid gear or two. I already have the boots, chest, class item, scout rifle, and sniper rifle. However, I won a second sniper rifle and dissembled it. I'm hoping I don't get the same piece of gear again. That would be a waste of time.

That's a bit disingenuous. That's not the endgame grind. How would you compare Destiny's endgame grind to MMOs? To other FPSs? To other loot games (e.g., D3 where you literally run rifts and more rifts and more rifts all day, every day)?

I guess I'm not sure what people expected from this type of game. I'm not saying that's an excuse - being as shitty as others doesn't mean you get a pass. Bungie could have elevated it to a new level but didn't (although in some ways, they did).

All I can say is I had more fun playing MMO-lite endgames like PSO that came out almost a decade ago, but that's because they had better social features. Better social features would make the endgame grind at least less mind-numbing. I could commiserate with other Destiny players by /shouting FUCK in a chat window.

The rest of the game is shitty and repetitive so the solution is to stand, never moving, and shoot at a cave for hours?

By the way, the Queen's Wrath Missions and the Nightfall strikes do give out legitimately good gear.

And I'm going to take specific issue with this:

All loot games are supposed to be the same? The game is clearly designed so you buy gear to advance. Unlike every other loot game out there you control your advancement. You do the strikes, you get rep & marks to buy good gear. Could it be buffed? Sure, but it's completely viable. I hit level 28 last night just doing patrols, strikes, bounties, etc. But people apparently refuse to buy things and are trying to make the drop system their only method of advancement, when it's not tuned for that. No wonder they're having a bad time.

But it is not viable for me to rely on drops , No and that is the problem. I care dont if you can buy shit in order to level up but the player should be able to rely on the drop they get.
And both the cave and strike are repetitive but at least cave has given me more reward than doing a hour long strike.

I think i've reached a point where I can pass through just about any surface... (old habbits die hard)

I've played over 100 rumble games and I don't believe I have lost a game yet. I thought I would stream for fun in-case anyone was interested in watching. I think I have over a 4k/d in it.

Holy shit dude. Not seen anyone as good as you at this yet. You are a headshot MACHINE. Also pretty surprised you use the Suros. I always assumed the rate of fire would be too low for PvP. Guess not lol.

I have the ascendant shards and materials needed to push my character to level 29, but I don't want to waste them on non-Raid gear. I have one exotic helm and 1 Raid gauntlet fully maxed out, leaving me at level 28, so I may just wait until I get the Raid chest and boots before going for max level.

Hopefully the RNG Gods shine upon me next week when I play through the Raid with my group again.

Why can't I just pick what strike I want to do?! So annoying quitting out of 10 games in a row trying to get a specific one!

This is the worst. I am so freaking sick of the devil walker / sepsis prime cycle that I don't even enter the strikes anymore.

Oh yes. I love this stuff. Spent a good while underneath Mars. Tried my best to go beyond the walls of the Tower, but best I could get was peeps behind the events area.

Did you enter IDCLIP? Let me know where the secret chainsaw is so I can make these alien bastards pay for shooting up my ride.

Think I'm going to skip leveling to 29 and stay at 28 and hoard shards. Unless of course Iron Banner rewards are so epic and to contend you need to be high level as possible.

There may be a chance Iron Banner gear could get you to 30, do we know this to be true/false?

I finally unlocked the main ability for Plan C (Exotic fusion rifle) yesterday and got dayum. It wrecks in PvP. It readies almost instantly on switch and the charge rate is near instant just after.

The amount of times I got caught being rushed and just swap shot they for an easy kill. I felt bad. Oh and the range and accuracy on it is insane, I can fire at someone at medium range without scoping :D

Does anyone know exactly what "Additional resources are now granted for completing City tasks in any destination" implies?
zWsMaqV.png

My guess is that doing beacon missions gets you a little of that planet's resource on completion after you unlock that? aka WANT

Nope. doesn't do shit. I'm pretty sure it's broken. In the beta you used to get materials for killing VIP targets (like 10), and after 50 kills you would get 1-2 more, now you don't get any.

I don't PvP and apart from 2 Nightfall missions, I mostly play Solo. To hear that I am completely unable to level up past 29 because of the Raid, AND getting to 29 a bad idea, sucks shit.

What's the record for most OTs for a single game? Or more importantly.... the most OTs in a game's first month?

The speed at which Destiny threads move is ridiculous.

How did you get so much gear from the Raid? All I've gotten is gauntlets, scout rifle and a hella load of shards lol

I'm with you there - PSO was great and does a few things better than Destiny does 10 years later. That's really disappointing, and the social parts of Destiny are downright atrocious. Why can't I talk to people at the Tower? People standing right next to me on a map?

I wish the crucible also had a chance to reward you with materials from the planet you played on. So if you play on an Earth map, you have a chance at getting some spinmetal. Play on the Moon and get some helium, etc.

I basically played PvP exclusively to get rep to rank 2 and get the PvP gear but now I have to go run around the moon picking up helium to level up that PvP gear. Doesn't make too much sense.

I suppose this might make people drop out of matches even moreso if they get put on a planet they don't need the parts for though?

I don't know, it just seems like it would be nice if I could fully live in PvP land if I wanted.

You can't rely on drops in any loot game ever. If you do chances are you will be sorely disappointed or spend a ton of time grinding for said item(s). Its the nature of the beast.

It is not viable for you to rely because they want you to buy stuff. This is your hang-up, not the game's. You want it to be something it's not. You might as well complain about this game not being in 3rd person. It is not a problem that you can't rely on drops because there are alternate systems that you're supposed to be using.

Can you imagine how much more broken the loot cave would be if you could rely totally on drops? Everyone would be fully geared in 5 minutes. Loot drops are bad because of the loot cave. Because of exploits like it where people can get a zillion drops with no effort.

Yeah, I really wish they had something like this or let you buy upgrade materials at some point. The game just comes to a halt when you need to walk around collecting shit.
Maybe I'll get to 27. The grind to 28 and on just seems ridiculous.

Oh I got a lot of shards as well. No idea, but if I'm lucky, I'll nab a headpiece next week.

Here's a list of all the things I've gotten from the raid within clearing it twice.:

Solar Scout Rifle
2 Raid Sniper Rifles
Raid Boots
Raid Chestpiece
A Legendary Ship
Chatterwhite Shader
A ton of shards and energies.
Forgot to add - I got the Raid Class Item. It's kinda cool and I'm a Warlock.

Thanks for the links!

It kinda sucks that I want to get to 30, but the Raid Armor isn't even guaranteed. With my luck, I'd have to go through the raid 10 times to get all of the pieces. Definitely not going to level up to 29 and waste more shards.

Wow - that's such crap. Here is my list:

-Cloak
-Shards/energies
-Chatter white.

These levels are supposed to serve the purpose of making farming for better stuff more efficient, not be the actual goal.
That isn't the purpose levels serve to me. It's fine that you feel differently. "Efficiency" hasn't actually been a major concern in my mind playing this game.
At least in the mindset of a loot game, which again is how they described the end game.
What? No. Raid gear itself can be shit lol. I have a piece of raid gear, it doesn't have the stats I want, it needs to be replaced eventually. None of my weapons are the weapon type nor have the mods I want. THAT is how loot games work.
how loot games work. this idea is beginning to get on my nerves. why do they all have to work the same way? Is it even fair to call Destiny a loot game if it then requires a formula to be followed to match the description? is your argument that I'm not really enjoying or satisfied with my progression in this game, it just seems like it?
You can get the item you want but not the actual mods and stats you want. You keep trying to perfect those.
Look at the modifier slots. All those slots that can roll, 3 5 or 6 different possibilities. That is what you're supposed to be working against. You keep trying to get the perfect one, not any one. Getting The Supremacy, for example, isn't the goal. Getting one with the abilities you want is.
I do view that as a very long-term goal, but since it ISN'T something I can control... no, getting The Supremacy (well, no, I don't care about that at all as I don't like snipers) is my goal, or rather getting Hawkmoon, getting a great legendary hand cannon (I'm sure I will buy one that is the closest to what I want), a great legendary fusion rifle for when I am using one of my exotic heavies rather than Pocket Infinity, and raid gear with the requisite light to hit 30. Those are what are most important to me now and I can get a substantial part of the way there solely through my own effort. I'll make the best of the mods on the gear I obtain. Yes, I am desperate for Hawkmoon and jealous of people who have acquired it through luck; that's just the way it goes. There's no solution to this because I don't want it to be easy to get- an exotic bounty would be perfect (I love the whole concept), but I don't think there is one since it's PS exclusive. So it goes.

It's not working toward like a linear progression. You deal with pure random. But you get SOMETHING shiny fairly often, even if it's not a good shiny. And that keeps you going. Until you do get an improvement and then it's bliss. Here, you're lucky to get a garbage legendary after hours of playing.
Or you could still legitimately play for 50 hours and never get an improvement, right? No bliss?

Trying to play this game like diablo is a recipe for fucking heartache. I don't know where else to take this line of conversation.

Did they turn up the frequency of how often you get higher end loot?

Up til now I haven't gotten anything good and then last night I ended up with a Legendary Zombie Apocalypse machine gun, an Exotic rocket launcher that I can't remember the name of, and the Exotic Universal Remote shotgun.

One of them I got as an engram from turning in a bounty, one I got as a Crucible reward, and the other I got as a pickup during a patrol mission.

what he said^^^ :)

Ha, somehow I knew Hawkian would step up with a solution for me.

That said, anyone want to get on my fireteam in 20 mins and farm relic irons for a bit? I don't have much time until later tonight but what to see if I can get enough to upgrade some armor and hit 27 at some point today.

PS4 PSN: GKW212

WOOH! I just got 2 purple engrams from levelling up the Cryptach to level 15 and I decrypted them for two purple weapons!

Steel Oracle Rocket Launcher and 77 Wizard Fusion rifle. Nice shit.

I can max out every armour but I won't now. UGH, May have to wait until December before I can level up when they allow us to get Raid equivalent gear without doing the Raid.

Got so much good shit now though. Hand Cannon is AMAZEBALLZZZ. Enough Ascendant Energy to max out at least two Exotics, so I will wait until I get a really nice Sniper. I think upgrading weapons is not really at all important however, unless I play against LV30 enemies.

Good To know, I'll stop trying to figure out what my bonus was now.

This fucking game, I swear every time there's a perk to limit the obnoxious levels of grind
, it's removed or just broken.

No, but you do actually get strung along. You get that subpar legendary every so often, and aspire to get something better.

Here you don't even get that. You get a blue, and another blue, and more blues and then maybe a subpar legendary after 3-4 hours lol. They failed with the carrot on a stick.

I think the best way to describe how I feel about Destiny is they took good core gameplay and then the worst parts of loot games and MMOs, like timegates and crazy RNG, and left out the things that make those okay. Tons of RNG is fine, but you tease people by making them feel like they got something nice frequently along the way.(Or have it be a low drop rate from a specific target. Having a 1/1000 chance of getting a special weapon that only comes from a certain boss is more bearable, because at least you feel like you're trying).

yep, i was gonna explain my general path to chests and being opportunistic with natural deposits but those links are good.
