I'm torn, the helmet's cool but I already have a legendery one and I really, REALLY waned those kickass gloves he sold last week?

Should I just buy the helmet or take my luck with exotic enagrams?

EDIT: nevermind, don't have enough for those...
 
Well, bought Suros Regime and picked up Exotic Engram. Gott that funky Warlock helmet with horns/spikes but I'm not too into the stats or perks so I threw it in my vault.
 
Not the titan chest I want...pass.

Bought. An engram and he gave me a hunter helm. Second week I have bought an engram and got items for other classes.

Exotic engrams should at least be for your class.

Getting from level 29 to level 30 requires RNG rolls from the Raid. And this is pretty radically different from engrams in the first place.

Yes the notion of the dependence on engrams is a problem but the engram issue is only a small part of the problem with Destiny's loot system. Engrams as a whole need to be completely revised or just cut out of the game entirely. The higher level player still needs either a large number of legendaries or rare materials to work with and praying that you could get a Legendary from an engram once you hit low level cap for Marks, was one approach.

Well shit, I need 12 more coins in two days if I want the auto rifle. That Titan chest looks mighty fine though. Gotta sleep, gonna binge play when I wake up hopefully.
 
Suros Regime bought, and I had exactly 23 coins. Man I've been using Shingen-E in both pve and pvp for God knows how long.

Xur saved me from abandoning Destiny, at least for this week lol.
 
That Titan chest armour doesn't seem all that great...or is it just me? Might just save my coins for next week. Still don't even have 13 yet.

I think I'm two coins short to buy both items, so I'll try and luck it with the engram first, then make my decision. Helmet gets priority though.
 
Also, lol @ the best primary weapon in the game being able to be bought. I'm surprised they didn't leave that one to the mercy of the RNG God's.
 
Gonna pass on Xur's stuff this week. Don't like AR's and the only helm I'd probably go for is the one that alters ward of dawn for titans. Time to save up for next week.

Doesn't alter any abilities. Just lets you revive teammates faster and holds more ammo.

And it won't be everyone. Just the people who are playing Destiny this week, who are aware of xur, and have enough coins saved up. Might be a lot but definitely not everyone.

It's easily the best gun I've used in the game, so it's well worth the 23 coins, just hope the AR nerf doesn't make it completely useless.

I'm not sure what to buy this week, I already have the heart of the praxis fire chest piece and I'm not sure I want to spend money on the helmet since it doesn't look that great.
 
Long ago during development, the Cryptarch decoded engrams of a given color into gear of that same color. Early in 2014 we added randomness, both for better and worse, to the decrypting process. The result was that end-of-session engram decoding got a lot more exciting and the Cryptarch himself suddenly acquired a personality. Both of these experiences were positive additions to the game.

The developers actually said this? That is probably the most arrogant piece of bullshit I've ever seen coming out of a developer's mouth. Great recipe to give an NPC 'personality'! Forget about character background and dialogue, just put him as a decoration for the game's main player griefing mechanic! I guess all the GIFs of the cryptarch with a trollface are the mark of all those awesome player-driven stories.
 
Damn I could use an exotic for my Hunter but that auto though. Even if I get both my alts up to 20 and get a full batch of coins I won't have enough.

Since I already have an Exotic Chest piece, I don't need this Helmet (the extra stats kinda suck). I need a new chest though. It completely sucks that my Motes of Light can only be used to get another helmet.

So I guess I will save all of my materials for next week then!

So long as I remember to not go LV29, all I have to do in this game is get EXP, so Bounties and Dailies. I want that Sniper from the Queen stuff then I will stop doing them completely, since we get no more Ass Shards.

This Auto Rifle looks peak though. But I prefer Hand Cannons...

there's no problem and there's no loot system, that's what I was trying to explain. i just got one of the best auto rifles in the game and a best-in-slot helm nearly perfect for my playstyle

oh, and advanced my exotic bounty, that's right. Xur is the ultimate bro

Gonna have to do the weekly heroic and weekly nightfall when I get back home. That exotic helmet is nice.
 
Heh, bought the engram hoping to land Helm of Saint-14 or a Hunter one for my alt. Ended up getting Helm of Inmost Light, the same helmet I bought from Xur last week. Oh well, 23 motes for 3 ascendant shards I guess lol.
 
Ok yeah, not getting helmet. I use my super to revive almost 95% of the time, so that extra bonus is useless for me. I'll get the AR and the engram.

I was thinking the same and thought I'd never get one. But it seems Xur's inventory might also be RNG. I don't think Bungie would have purposely had the same gauntlets the last 2 weeks in a row, although I don't put anything past them at this point. So it might of just been the luck of the draw this week. Can't wait to use it when I get home.
 
Damn, I'm so jealous. I have a paltry 14Hrs of gametime played since day 1 and am a few light short of Lvl21. I can only dream about acquiring the money to buy stuff from Xur and other vendors.

You can't seriously argue there isn't a loot system when the raids directly give you high level weapons and armor for completion. I would like certain handcannons but that's almost completely up in the air as to when or even if I'll be able to get something like Hawkmoon.

The loot system is just so terrible that it's better to buy most stuff.

Neither? Both?

The abilities on it are more auto and special ammo, and rez teammates quicker.

I got the helm that Xur had the first week from the engram which I already had, and the radar on the Hunter helm isn't enough to make me wanna fully upgrade it. So this week I just settled to get a exotic for both my alts, it's unfortunate the queen's event loot goes into the same slots otherwise I would have been a lot more stoked.
