PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

I have one screen of all "system" things, one full of hideous sort of organized folders and one with the games I mean to currently play. Will grab pics later

I've only just received my 64GB card, so I'm not quite used to having actual space on my Vita yet. This isn't all my games, just the ones I've installed so far.

So all being well with Minecraft Vita FINALLY in Sony cert testing it may be out for next Wednesday. And I can finally quit bitching in this thread about it not being out yet :)

Damn, just noticed my PSN plus expired yesterday. Probably for the best since I'm in the middle of writing for a major deadline.

Wait, if I resubscribe in a couple weeks, I'll get back all the plus downloads, yes?

I don't care lol, he's losing/despising a good game imo.

I hated the game for a good month before finally trying it out again last night. It's by no means perfect and there are so many things I hate but it all comes together in a strangely compelling way and I'm unable to turn away from it.

Now I find myself counting down the hours until I'm able to play it again.

It sucks that the Vita screen isn't really bright enough to use anywhere that there's a lot of daylight coming in. It makes dark games like VLR harder to play when you can't see a damn thing : /

You only lose something if you don't get it back in time to claim next months whatever, should you want to do so. not sure if anything happens to cloud saves, I've never had mine lapse but I know your game licenses are fine.

Yes. Not sure about what happens to your cloud saves though? Does anyone know?

Can't speak for Vita 2000, but yes, the screen is horrible outside. 3DS has this magic"-angle" where you still can see the screen in sunshine but you'll get terrible colors. I can't describe it any other way.

I've always been told they are available for 6 months after your subscription lapses but that people have been able to access them as much as 2 years later.

Edit - This is old but also says 6 months...

http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Announcements/Online-Storage-Available-To-PlayStation-Plus-Members-From/td-p/12558216

"If your PlayStation Plus subscription expires then you will no longer be able to access Online Storage until you renew your subscription. However, any game saves stored will be kept for six months and you will be able to access them as before when you renew the subscription, as long as you do so within that six month period."

Really? I have the LCD 2000 model and I play almost exclusively in direct sunlight (there is a window right behind my couch and light comes right in) and I've never had any issues. I have terrible issues playing my 3DS in the same place though during the day, with or without 3D.

Also all these people posting their Vita UIs is making me realize that, despite owning 100 GB worth of vita games, there are still so many more that I want!

My PS+ lapsed due to it saying it was active longer than it really was, and my saves were fine. It was only lapsed for like 12 hours though so I can't say the duration that saves are safe for though!

My major problem when organizing my 64 GB card and vita UI is deciding what to actually keep on my card, since I have over 100 GB of games, so 35 GB that cannot fit on my card. I also like to keep at least 5 GB free so that I can at least download a new purchase and transfer it to PC right away, even if I don't intend to play it that second. So much easier having all my games backed up to PC. Would be even more convenient to have them backed up to my laptop, but it has an SSD and could never accommodate 100 GB of extra stuff!

OLED or LCD? I've definitely noticed this on my OLED model.

Yup, OG Vita model. I solved a puzzle in VLR by the process of elimination and then found a binder that contained the answer afterwards. It was tucked away in a dark corner of a locker, couldn't see it the whole time : /

I find that with my 3DS and generally all portable devices though.

Iphones have never had that issue for me, so it's really frustrating to have a dedicated gaming machine not match the brightness of a phone. then again, pretty sure it's a more expensive piece of hardware so there's that.

You'd think a portable machine would work better outside of the house. Kinda of a shame.

Haven't used the new model vita but i'm almost willing to leave OLED behind if the 2000 is a brighter machine.

Hi there.

I've no idea if any of you guys will know the answer to this question, but it's worth a try.

I got my 64GB card today, previously had a 32GB.

Backed everything up onto my PS3, and then copied it all back onto the 64GB. S'working fine so far.

Can I just use the 32GB card in a PS TV if I get one in the future now? And if so, will the card get reformatted?

Cheers in advance.

P.S. I'd share my screens but I'm not happy with them at the moment. I need to photoshop some that I'm happier with, but I'm rubbish with anything like that!

Yes, it should work with the PS TV. And if you are going to use it with the same account I don't think it needs to be reformatted.

Wonder if anyone has any experience with the PS3 backwards compatibility? The PSN sale on Atlus games is tempting me but I already have all those games on PS2. I have a backwards compatible PS3 that I can use to play them but is it worth it to get, say, Nocturne or Odin Sphere digitally? Do these games have noticeable changes running from disc? I bought Persona 4 on PSN despite having it for PS2 specifically because it had a bug in the dialog box.

I don't feel like this is worth reviving the OT, so I'll just post this here. I find it amusing (and also a bit comforting) that at some point the game description for Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds was updated, and is no longer Engrish.
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds, inspired by a 2D fighting game, is a side-scrolling beat’em up, that can be played with a group of friends, or enjoyed alone. It retains the classical 8-bit style graphics for key art, but takes advantage of modern animation and particle techniques to deliver a truly unique experience. The music is nostalgic, inspired by classic video game notes, but arranged for today’s hardware.
Not only that, players can customize, and raise their characters in their own way with talent specs and special attacks. Once the characters are ready, bring them to the arena, to compete against friends, putting everything on the line!

It still seems a little awkwardly phrased, though. Too many commas.

As I recall, there are two different PS3s with backwards compatibility. The earlier ones have full hardware BC while the later ones have partially software based BC. If you have a full hardware based BC PS3, then it will play PS2 discs perfectly as if it is one, but software based BC might have some issues.

Honestly, the main draw of getting the PS2 games digitally is to guarantee compatibility on whatever PS3 you may own in the future. The older PS3s with BC aren't the most durable or well made things, and if it breaks in the future you may have a hard time finding a replacement. But if you buy the games on PSN you will be able to play them as long as PSN for PS3 exists. I don't think there is any real advantage to the digital PS2 games otherwise.

Is there a way to redeem a code on the PlayStation app? I want to be one of the 20,000 people who gets in to the Dragon Ball xenoverse network test on Friday, October 3rd but I'll be at work and will only have access to my phone and not my systems when they post the download codes.

Yes, under the "account" tab in the mobile store (the store the app takes you to anyway). There's a Redeem Codes option

Anybody know whether Persona 1, Eternal Punishment, and Innocent Sin are worth playing? I've been thinking about getting them since they're on sale but I heard they haven't aged very well.

Man, every once in a while my save game on Terraria Vita gets corrupted. I don't even know why. I looked it up and apparently it can be caused by closing the game while it autosaves, but I turned that feature off (And completely redownloaded the game from the PSN store from scratch) but it still keeps getting corrupted. Also, the game starts to freeze up after playing a save file for a while.

Welp, at least I got this for free. Not worth continuing playing when I know my stuff is going to get wiped in a matter of time :(
Maaaan that's awful....my feelings go out to ya. I've played tons of Terraria, but never ran into these issues before...

You could try to resurrect the Terraria OT...you may be able to get a few responses there..

I don't understand gaming journalism.. I tried out Podcast Beyond and one of the guys has no clue what a PlayStation TV is..

Before that some dude was critiquing Destiny after getting to level 7, and not even trying PVP. I've heard more insightful commentary on the Old People React To videos.

Edit: Now they openly laugh at DriveClub, and subsequently dismiss it at the same time stating that they are not racing fans, haven't followed or seen it recently, ... wow.

I don't like podcast beyond or IGN at all really, but you are a bit off base with your issues. First of all, the guy who didn't know what PS TV is was a guest on the podcast this week, and he covers Xbox stuff on IGN, so he has no real reason or obligation to know what it is. Also, Colin is weird, and absolutely hates any interaction with people in gaming, be it co-op or PvP, so he would never do Destiny PvP even if he got to max level (he is a weird guy). But for those reasons, he made sure not to be involved with Destiny reviews or site content, because he knew it wasn't for him. I don't think he shouldn't be able to talk about his opinions on his casual Destiny playthrough though.

I think podcast beyond is pretty bad and I disagree with most of their opinions, but I don't think there is anything wrong with someone talking about his experiences with a game after a few hours. Not like he was trying to hide how long he played and pretend like he had extensive knowledge.

Thanks! I am in the middle of gather images to make some Senran themed ones for Versus.

Ya it is a game changer hehe, easy to make too.

Speak for yourself! I am awful with photoshop and any time I try to make transparent PNGs I end up with awful jagged edges that really stand out. I just get by with pre-made ones, but it does look absolutely awesome when it is done!
