PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | September 2014

my two nieces beat the Tokyo Jungle Story mode the other day.

o.o

but the last two unlockables:
the robots dogs
didn't unlock

There wasn't anything like that for sale on Play-Asia, so I'll try to find something out on other stores, like I did for my OLED Vita. Can you share that ebay scalper page? I want to see more pictures of the system, if there are any.

Nothing else but the plain Vita box under the slip cover.

Haven't used any skins myself, just seemed like the best option. It's a liquid application skin, though. $17 on ebay instead of $25 on that site.

Oh, at least the pictures got me excited. And regarding Ebay, I'm not sure it'd be the best thing for me since I don't live in the US and things might get trickier buying from a third-party seller.

The first two are $3.29.

Not that expensive, maybe they're all cheap because PSM is cheap.

Why the hell did that scalper open it?? That only decreases its value. He failed his job as a scalper.

Is there a nice game for 16 bucks?
If you can wait for price drops,EDF vita drops to 9.99 once in a while. I know, since I've missed the previous price drops of that game.

Other than that, Entwined looks good. I can't say anything about it since I haven't bought it though.

Finally found it, do you mean this one? Have you ever used one of these?

I used one like that for my OG vita and it was a massive pain in the ass to apply, it had so many small parts that it never seemed to line up correctly. So it is very likely as you mess with it to get dust or hairs or stuff under the protector. If that doesn't bother you and you just want full protection they are decent.

How's the MGS Collection port on the Vita? I already have the collection on the PS3, but would much rather play on the go. Would it be wise to experience the series for the first time on a handheld (MGS1, MGS2, MGS3)? I am also curious on how well the controls are.

And yes I've never played a MGS game before despite me owning all of them for the longest time ever.

It's a great port, MGS2 and 3 are not native res but they still look really good, 2 runs at 60fps when you're inside a building and 30 when you're outside, 3 always at 30.
The controls are fine, the control scheme is clunky to begin with but they did a good job. There are some actions mapped to the touchpad that are awful to use, but you basically don't even need them so it's not really an issue.

As for MGS1, yes, in my opinion playing PS1 games on the vita is the best way to play them nowadays.

Remember to sync the save file to the cloud the first time you create it so that you can use it on the PS3 too.

Thanks. Also, I heard MGS1 had some audio issues on the Vita, have they fixed it yet? It's the main reason why I haven't play yet.

I don't know, I don't have the digital version.

I forgot to mention that the cutscenes and codec calls, especially in 2, are really long so keep that in mind when you're choosing between ps3 and vita.

Gave Hook On a shot, and it's not the worst thing I've played. The fishing itself is decently entertaining, playing like a mechanically limited iOS game ported onto the Vita without too much effort put into optimization or feature utilization. It seems like an okay waiting-for-class-to-start time waster.

The only real unacceptable negative so far for me is the totally unvoiced story mode that is obviously supposed to have VA. You're forced to wait 3-5 seconds for text boxes to advance while characters shift poses and expressions, and you can't advance the text manually, only skip the cutscene outright. I'll probably still dump a few hours into playing the game though.

I'm not too worried if I already have a great protetor applied on my screen.

I just rage quitted and rage deleted Metrico after the 10th time falling prey to the terrible enemy collision detection within 5 minutes.

As a Vita exclusive this game is such an utter disappointment. None of the puzzles are interesting, it's always just "figure out which input triggers which world element".

If I were to describe what makes this game a failure, I'd say it's the fact that it totally lacks the most essential ingredient of what makes a puzzle-solving game addictive, which is making you feel clever after you solve a puzzle. Every time you solve a "puzzle" in Metrico, you never feel clever at all, you just feel like a dumbass who tried stuff until it worked.

Anyone following PlayStation TV? would it be wise to buy the Lego bundle with the DS3 or do you guys think a better bundle will come out later with DS4, maybe another color (like Japan's white Vita TV), also with a better game and a larger memory card???

The Lego games on Vita are reportedly mediocre (by everyone I know who has played them) and you're not really getting anything else of use (you're probably going to want a DS4 and a bigger memory card too).

I say wait 'til there's a bundle that offers something good, instead of three of the lamer items you can possibly get with it.

Or buy it without the bundle, and then get the good stuff.Haha.

Don't get the bundle, it's also compatible with the DualShock 4 so there is literally no reason for them to bundle a DS3 with it, it's a completely stupid decision, especially considering how they're heavily advertising it as a Remote Play box.

Just get the 100 dollar version (or better yet, a used/referbished JP one if it works with NA/EU accounts once the PS TV launches over here).

I mean, if you have a DS3 or DS4 + a Vita memory card already, the bundle is effectivly useless. The extra game really isn't that amazing anyway (the Vita Lego games are just top-down beat-em ups now with some mini games thrown in, I think at least. all the pre-Lego Marvel games were all very PS2-like Lego games).

I personally think that it would be best to just wait till more Vita games work with the thing :l. From what I saw of the compatibly list, there are ALOT of glaring omissions from the thing; Wipeout, Gravity Rush, Killzone, Sly 4, Sly/Jak/Rachet Collection(s), Unit 13, Ys MoC, SAO: Hallow Fragment, and LBP Vita for example. Basically, while a decent amount of the third party Vita games work with the thing, a large amount of Sony's OWN games don't X(.

So, that is why I think it might be smart to wait at least two or so months to see if the games you really want to be added to the list and/or US and EU gaffers can give stronger impressions of the device.

Hope this helps somehow :).

Maybe there will be a Disney Infinity 2.0 PSTV bundle, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lego is the only one.

Considering the Vita version is coming out early next year (plus the fact that the PS TV seems to be cheap to make), I can see a 120$ bundle of that early next year when the Vita version launches :D.

I mean, Sony DID pay for the port (if SCEE's partnership with Disney Interactive on PSP/Vita is any indication), so they might as well leverage from it and sell some systems with it :).

I think that's because a lot of first party games, like Uncharted, have touch/camera gimmick stuff worked into them, probably at Sony's behest. Some could be fixed, certainly the PS2 game collections should work. In many cases the screen just replaces the buttons that the Vita is missing. Others, like LBP Vita and Tearaway, are very much designed around the touchscreen, and will never work. In Wipeout's case, there is the problem that Studio Liverpool no longer exists :(

And actually, Killzone: Mercenary and Sly 4 are on the compatibility list.

^^ I'm with this man,

Also, Unit 13 has the same issue as Wipeout; no studio left to patch it.

Really? Damn X(, should have read the list more clearly :l.

But, I would think that Sony would want to push their first party Vita games out (as they are solid games), so them putting, I don't know....the TIME and EFFORT to do something to make the Vita TV sell is reasonably expected :l.

Well, I'm sure the PS2 Collections will be patched out not long after launch (as they already did that with God of War) and Uncharted could work quite well if they make that use the DS4 (gyro stuff = tilting the controller, rubbing relics = rub the touch pad, finding treasures = press a face button, the swiping stuff = movements of the D-Pad/Left Stick). Wipeout and Unit 13 should work with the PS TV in the future too (both make minimal use of the touch screen/rear touch pad).

Well, couldn't Sony commission Santa Monica to handle the patch? I mean, they did do that with PSAS well after SuperBot stopped working on the game, so this example did happen already :l.....

But would doing so actually make them money? Unlikely - so it's also unlikely to happen.

Money makes the world go 'round. :/

Good idea, but then we'd have games that are only compatible with the PS TV if you are using a DS4, which is a problem since Sony has decided that the bundle should include a DS3. Well, maybe they could just remove all of that nonsense altogether.

Well, they COULD get away with it :D; I think by clicking both L3 and R3, you can use the 'touch screen' mode and use the sticks like one would use there fingers on the Vita (I'm really not sure here :l....). So, they could have DS3 users play the game like that while the DS4 owners use the touch pad. Granted, that would be unfair to many PS TV buyers but then they should have bundled the damn thing with DS4's to being with :l.

Well I actually don't have a PS4... or PS3... or anything Vita related so a bundle with everything needed to make work the PlayStation TV is my best option. Seems I should wait for a better bundle. So far the only games I want to get and that are compatible with the PSTV are Killzone Mercenary and Persona 4 Golden... any recommendations of games (that are compatible with PSTV)?

Like to ask if anyone used SuperUFO before? I ordered 64gb from them a couples of days ago but status haven't change, email both their site and facebook no reply :(

Since I think you have a Dark Souls 2 avatar, I'd wager that you would appreciate Soul Sacrifice Delta. Though that is not compatible with PSV yet I suppose..

Sorry :(, not good with double quoting people X(. Still gotta get used to that :).

I feel like there has to be a more elegant way than I use to double quote. What I do is I quote one person, write my full message, then copy what I wrote (plus the quoted text). Then I go back, quote the other person and paste in what I wrote before. Seems like such a silly workaround and that there has to be a better way.

A good deal of people, myself included, have ordered from there successfully. If you pick the free shipping option it is slow and the status does not update often, I think it took a little under two weeks for me to get my 64 GB.

Well, all of the PSP and PS1 games that work on Vita work on PS TV :D. With that, I recommend the following PS1/PSP games.

-Crash and Spyro series (IF you are a EU PSN user; they don't work in NA PSN for some stupid reason X()
-Final Fantasy VI-IX
-Chrono Trigger
-Tomba 1 and 2
-Klona
-Ape Escape: On the Loose
-Daxter
-Persona 3 Portable
-Megaman Maverick Hunter X
-Megaman X4 and X5
-Megaman 1-4 PS1
-Rayman 1 and 2
